Advantages: It's hilarious!!! Disadvantages: You might not get all the jokes
...a very recent convert to Family Guy, and after managing to watch seasons 1, 3 and 4 in the space of a week, I found myself wondering, 'how did I not know about this before!?' I think the answer to the question is the fact that Family Guy never really took off in the UK, due to competition from other popular shows, and never getting the right kind of publicity. I must admit, before I watched the DVD of season 4, I thought Family Guy was a cheap, rude ... ...more…
The humour of Family Guy is spot on, with humorous characters, perfectly timed jokes, and some of the most random and totally unexpected moments that make you either groan, giggle your arse off, or look around with a bewildered smile on your face. It's a 15 certificate, which I think is fair, because there is some occasional swearing (but it's done so well, it heightens the humour), and references to sex and drugs. But again, these aspects ...

...will. It was time for Family Guy, season 1.
I actually discovered the show by accident. I happened to be flicking through TV one night and, as said animal show ended, the announcer...um... announced that Family Guy was on next. Initially, not knowing what it was all about, I thought it was just another generic American comedy much like Friends or The Fresh Prince Of Bel Air (also popular at the time, by the way!). However, when I first saw the introduction ... ...not many people knew about Family Guy, they were too wrapped up in watching The Simpsons or South Park. They were seen as the "in thing" and Family Guy was next to nothing being the new kid on the block. Five seasons later and you can see how everything has changed.
So, season four then. Family Guy, after being cancelled a SECOND time by Fox (who apparently don't know a great comedy when they see it!) and then picked-up yet again had a lot to live ...

Basically, the series of Family Guy is about a family of 5 (with the exception of a talking dog!) who live in Quahog, Rhode Island and have lots of wacky adventures there. ... ...not in any way takeover Family Guy as I thought Family Guy was more grown up and slapstick which I love.
It is an American, animated comedy created by Seth MacFarlane and aired on FOX in 1999. This was banned several times in 2000 and 2002. DVD sales brought this back on air but most channels will not show this as they do not agree with it's purposes. BBC three is one of the few channels that actually air this which I think is disgraceful as lots ...

...if you to are a family guy fan or you may not. Back in 1999 Family Guy first aired in America on Fox and had a large audience because it was shown straight after the Superbowl (which is HUGE over there). Anyway overtime the rating started to plummet due to the competition on other channels, with programmes like Friends that were never going to be beaten. It was constantly moved around from it's slot and even the most avid viewers had trouble catching ... ...Over here in the UK Family Guy aired on channel 4, but as far as I remember I was one of the few people who watched it, it never really took off in a big way. Anyway re-runs of the shown started being shown on American channels Fox and The Cartoon Network, and this time they were getting high ratings. In 2003 the first season was released on dvd and fans went nuts- sales were through the roof! As each of the DVD's were released the sales were huge ...

...those not familiar with it. Family Guy is a cartoon, and is basically a cross between South Park and The Simpsons. It's not as dirty as the former but not as clean as the latter, and arguably funnier than them both. Now, the show centres around the Griffin family - Father Peter, Mother Lois, Daughter Meg, two sons Chris and Stewie and Brian, the family dog - from Quahog, Rhode Island. Peter is quite slow at taking in information, and is pretty much ... ...for alcohol.
Outside the family are other key characters such as the afore-mentioned Quagmire (sex addict with an attraction towards Lois), Cleveland (neighbour) and Joe (disabled and a Cop), as well as Adam West (Mayor) and Death (Death).
If you're a fan of the family Guy series then this DVD really becomes a 'must have'. I didn't find it as funny or as addictive as the previous 3 seasons, but it's still brilliant in it's own unique way. The DVD ...

Family Guy - Season 4 is the fourth season of the popular TV show, Family Guy! It was created by Seth McFarlane, who also created "American Dad", and was the first season back after they were canceled during the third season run. Understandably, Family Guy fans were furious at this and started again to try and get their show back on the air again. Petitions were created garnering thousands of signatures, and people wrote into Fox and staged protests ... ...2002 showing Peter telling the family they have been canceled. He then lists off all the Fox shows that would have to be canceled (they were) before they could return to the airwaves. The last three episodes of this season were the basis for the feature length film "Stewie Griffin: The Untold Story". "North by North Quahog" is a great start to the season where Peter and Lois go on a second honeymoon and Peter ends up impersonating Mel Gibson so they ...

...of you who've never seen Family Guy I'll give you a brief description. Family Guy is about a man named Peter, who each week gets himself into trouble and requires the aid of his dog and best friend Brian. Peter is joined by the rest of the family, his wife Lois and children Chris, Meg and Stewie, who by the way wants to take over the world (Even if he is only one).
Two years ago I was on a popular DVD website looking for something funny to buy when ... ...the network striked back and Family Guy returned to our screens for a fourth season.
I couldn't wait for the release of the box set so I downloaded a few of the episodes. There was something different about Family Guy this time round. After being converted to the family guy community after the 3rd season I eagily awaited the date of release of the Griffin family newest dvd.
For those who have never seen family guy i will briefly explain the storyline. All seasons are based around a family called the 'Griffins' who live in the town of Quahog. The family consists of Peter, the father, an overweight, idiot husband to Lois. Chris the eldest son who seems to be following in his fathers ... ...friend when needed.
The family is closely linked to other successful animated comedy programmes like the simpsons. Although its humour is more adult and may not be suitable for many younger children. (hence the 15 ceretificate) This is definately the funniest programme I have ever watched! I have noticed that Family Guy is funny in different ways to simpsons or south park etc. Family Guy takes moments in a story line and reverts back to previous ...

Advantages: Loads of special features, episodes retain hilarity after several views. Disadvantages: Too few episodes for its price.
...The Simpsons and South Park, Family Guy has made its own unique impression on the animated comedy market. For those that don't know with Family Guy is, it follows the lives of the Griffin family (one of the most dysfunctional families on TV). Peter Griffin (the father) is all too similar to Homer Simpson, in that he has good intentions, but can't help but be a bumbling idiot in the process.
Family Guy Season 4 contains 13 hilarious episodes (including ... ...going blind from eating too many coins, and Chris being befriended by a talking zit) I think that this particular season is hilarious, despite in my opinion not being perhaps the best, and is the first to feature strong swearing in its uncensored form. Each episode has a commentary from the writers and directors of the shows. The only disadvantage is that there aren't a lot of episodes for its price. At an average price of around £15, 13 episodes ...

Advantages: Great US cartoon comedy, Disadvantages: lack of DVD extras, smallest episode count of the lot
This is series 4 of Family Guy - the show bought back from the dead after strong DVD sales persuaded FOX to recommission it onto US screens.
THE SHOW ITSELF!
The show is all about the hijinx of the Griffin Family: Peter - the lazy, dim witted father, Lois - the loving wife and caring mother to their children: Chris - the simple-minded son, Meg - the daughter everyone ignores and Stewie - the infant son who dreams of ruling the world....or at least ... ...Griffins.
As with other Family Guy DVDs, there are not many special features therefore it can be a bit of a let down for fans who want that little bit more. I believe the episodes could be fitted onto 2 discs and the third disc be for other special features like proper interviews with cast/writers etc. However this should not be a deterent for anyone interested in buying it. ...

HOW DOES IT COMPARE WITH THE PREVIOUS 3 SEASONS?

Advantages: Hilarious and Funny a great Show Disadvantages: Not as good as the first three seasons
Family Guy is a short (20 minutes an episode) animated comedy series about the Griffin Family - Dad Peter (A fat idiot, his words not mine) his wife Lois, their three children Chris, Meg and Stewey (a baby with plans for world domination - kinda like a baby bond villain) and of course their taking dog Brian who is Peters best friend.
First of all I need to point out that this is in fact not all of season 4 but just the first 13 episodes. From TV.com ... ...I love the show.
Family Guy originally ran for 3 seasons but was cancelled by FOX a few years ago. However due to online petitions and the phenomenon sales of the first three seasons on DVD FOX brought the show back late last year. Ahh yes! Family Guy, what's not to like ? The first half of this season is hysterically funny in places. Peter has another fight with the guy in the chicken outfit for starters!!! However something seems to be lacking in this season, I really enjoyed watching this, although it needs something to keep people watching. Other than that its great, Children will love it!. Normally they have me in hysterics at how random they are (the firetruck hunting it's prey is a classic) there's enough here to keep you entertained for a while and your mates to when they pop round. ...
