...of my fave shows The Family Guy. I was only able to watch odd episodes and never the whole season. My chance on getting the whole season collection on DVD was when I was given a £50 HMV voucher recently in an award ceremony during the Leap festival (http://www.lsbu.ac.uk/leap) organized by my University. It consists of a regular US family, The Griffins lead by a weird father Mr. ...

Advantages: 21 episodes. Good value for money Disadvantages: Some US jokes lost on UK audience
The Family Guy is a cartoon about an average dysfunctional US family and their talking dog. It has been the subject of controversy and censorship in the US and was dropped by Fox. In the pilot episode, Stewie, a talking baby with a British accent, was openly contemptuous of his loutish dad and already hatching a plan to kill his sweet-natured mother in a quest for world domination. Sounds weird right? But worth a look if only to see what the US censors ... ...to completely miss The Family Guy. In fact I’d never even heard of it until a mate offered to lend me the Season 3 DVD box set. I accepted coz I’m always on the look out for free entertainment, as the variety when I’m away at work is limited. I work on a survey vessel, currently in the Gulf of Mexico, so nipping down to Blockbuster ain’t an option.

Family Guy - Season 3 is the third series of the Emmy award-winning show, Family Guy. It was created by Seth McFarlane and was first broadcast in 2001. During this season and the previous one, Fox frequently moved the show to different days and times with hardly notice, and the ratings suffered a lot for this. In fact, Fox had already canceled Family Guy at the end of the second season, and it was only because of huge amounts of people creating websites, ... ...boundaries of what is acceptable and what isn't. Family Guy - Now it's third fantastic season there are 21 brand new episodes across 3 DVD discs. If you have never seen the show before don't worry because if you have a husband, boyfriend or son aged 15+ they will love this. I'm not saying it's just for men because it's not women will love it to.

i'd describe family guy as the simpsons for an older audience. my friend showed me a few episodes and i thought it was ace and led to me buying the box sets.
meet the Griffins:
Peter Griffin - father of 3 children (meg, chris and stewie) husband of lois. fat, lazy, drinks and has a crap job never fails to make comments such "lois you're lucky, all the things you like doing - cooking and cleaning - are right here in the house waiting for you." and ... ...Brian - not just the family dog, easily the most polite/well mannered member of the Griffin family. well spoken and well educated, always the person peter turns to for advice.
there are so many hilarious episodes of family guy, my favourite is probably "kiss seen around the world" where meg and a geek from school who fances her kiss on television because meg thought she was going to die and stewie has his tricycle stolen by a bully.

Family guy follows the lives of the Griffin Family, Peter an obese imbecile with a dead end job, Louis a stressed housewife with no life outside her family, Brian the talking dog with an addictive personality, Meg teenage social reject, Chris with an Iq similar to that of a glass of water and Baby Stewie, the toddler Genius with both Homicidal and Homosexual tendencies. ...out an outline of what Family Guy is about, there's two things you can do. You can read one of the other informative reviews here or you can take my word for it that it's mostly about nothing. Okay here we go....
There should be and is no comparison or similarity between the two cartoons apart from they both feature a family life in the US. Here ends the comparison.

The Griffins:-
Roger - Fat bloke with a heart of gold, very funny, very fat, always looking for those moments in life where he can fail and he loves KISS (the band)
Louis - The mother of 3 very different kids; Meg, Chris n Stu and wife to Roger. She's the straight one and usually ends up picking up the pieces. Oh yeah, she's a 'red head' with the temper ...

Advantages: So funny it gives me stomach cramps! Disadvantages: Some jokes do tend to drag on slightly!
Family Guy is amongst the top humorous cartoons I have ever watched. The characters are funny, the jokes are brilliant. Yet I feel somewhat disappointed. This disappointment stems from the fact that Family Guy has copied The Simpsons in many ways. The creators did not plagiarise but they incorporated many characteristics of The Simpsons into family guy.
Advantages of watching Family Guy: 20 minutes of pure humorous indulgence, a talking evil baby ... ...American Dad are slightly conserved, but Family guy is in your face , crude and is a mix of South Park adult humour and The Simpsons.

I've been a long time Family Guy fan, and as wonderful as Seasons 1 and 2 were, the massive change in writing staff in preperation for Season 3 really pays off.
Family Guy has often been unfairly tagged as an "adult Simpsons", but that doesn't begin to do it justice. Family Guy's originality is in its thick and fast pop culture references, which range from accessible references to movies and TV shows with which we are all familiar, to the obscure, ... ...problem. The three discs of Family Guy's golden age is more than entertaining enough :)
You should also check out the first 2, and the following 2 seasons that have been released so far. Although personally I found this season to have that slightly stronger edge, Family Guy has always been consistently fantastic, and whilst 'mature' isn't quite the right word ;) - adult, intelligent and very, very, funny are. Although the constraints of American ...
