Action - Seagal Style!

Advantages: Entertaining.
Disadvantages: Boring.

...The film they chose was Exit Wounds and to be honest it was actually quite a lot better than I thought it would be. ----- The Film: The film starts with what seems like a plot to assassinate the Vice President and of course at the last minute Seagal's character Boyd jumps in and saves the day by blowing up loads of cars and then killing a load of guys. One thing he shouldn't have done though is actually threw the VP over a bridge and into water ...
...Features: The making of Exit Wounds feature is actually exactly what you would expect from this type of film so expect to see how they do certain stunts and a lot of action from Seagal. Quite enjoyable to watch though which was ok. It wouldn't be a DMX film if it didn't star a music video from him so you have quite a good, R n B/Rap version of 'no sunshine'. The final feature is a day with Anthony Anderson which is hilarious and because he was the ...

Advantages: Good mindless fun, not a film that should be taken seriously
Disadvantages: It's another Seagal cop action film, if thats not your thing it certianly is a major disadvantage

...cast Seagal with DMX was Exit Wounds released around the middle of 2001. While it was still a straight to video release it was a major change to his usual films. It really caught my eye but with straight to video releases I generally forget they are there until I see them on the shelf in Tesco's. So I decided recently it was time to catch up with a load of his films I've missed, starting with this one. Seagal stars a Orin Boyd, a Police Officer ...
...Having saved the Vice President from an ambush in an unconventional manor, disobeying every order given, Boyd is reassigned to one of the City's worst precincts. He quickly stumbles upon some dodgy dealings between some of the other Police officers and a local rich kid. The biggest problem facing Boyd is exactly who he can trust to try and sort it out. While Seagal has very much become typecast in these police Action type of movies it is a role ...

Exit Cinema

Advantages: some interesting twists and fight scenes, some decent acting at times
Disadvantages: stale plot, some rather overdone and pointless violence, I can act better than Seagal

...on offer at your cinema, Exit Wounds appears to be the most worthy choice. I guess that all depends on how old you are but my mate and I didn't want to see kiddie flicks so that was ruled out, nor romantic tosh that's been recycled fifty times, nor did we want to see stuff that was totally panned by everyone. So, we ventured along to see a nice no-brainer action flick, and everyone was happy. The vague sense of unease I felt building up before I ...
...this movie to be named Exit Wounds, a much more apt name would be Everyone Dies, for rather obvious reasons. This movie is not subtle. Rather, it takes a heavy blunt object and beats you around the head until it finishes. There are some rather gruesome scenes involving sharp objects that made me cringe so if you are a bit squeamish you might not want to be going along to watch this one. Exit Wounds is a rather cliched actioner, because we have all ...

Smile, It Might Never Happen

Advantages: Imaginative action, not as dumb as I expected, good soundtrack
Disadvantages: Average.

Ten word review: Segal and DMX fight corruption and drugs in “gritty” thriller. Steven Segal is actually quite a jolly man. The reason for his constant grimace is his constant fear that his usual happy go lucky smile will make him seem less of a hard man. So every day when he turns up for his acting job, he sucks twelve lemons and watches John Carpenter’s Vampires. Feeling suitably sullen (and a little angry), he goes on to a productive ...
...Now, the last time Joel Silver put his name to anything other than The Matrix, it was the superbly average Romeo Must Die. Mercifully, this effort has far less wire work, is believable, and… dare I say it… A Good Steven Segal Movie. In the mood for a slice of “pulse-pounding action” as the sleeve puts it (I’ve heard that phrase a million times, and not one lentil has been stood on yet…), I sat down with the lights ...

...and persuade you otherwise – Exit Wounds is no Oscar winner. This film is designed to look and sound good, and the filmmakers don’t want the audience to focus too much attention on the plot. It won’t win any fans over to the genre, but for a dumb weekend movie, I thought this was pretty good. Recommended – as if you didn’t already know! ...

EXIT WOUNDS IS NO CITIZEN KANE

Advantages: There will be no pop quiz about this movie. High IQ not required.
Disadvantages: It's a dumb action film with Seagal.

...If you're interested in Exit Wounds at all, it's because it's an action movie and has a somewhat interesting cast. You're expectations for it are probably pretty low but your curious if Seagal is still a reasonably entertaining bad-ass and if DMX can act. The answer to both questions is a qualified yes. Exit Wounds is low-brow entertainment. It's not a film you study or savor for its intricacies or sub-texts. You watch a film like this very much ...
...a t.v. program does. Exit Wounds is what non-critical genre fans expect it to be. Perhaps a tiny bit better. Seagal does not really act, but he does have an interesting charisma. At his best he's a poor-man's Clint Eastwood, who's spare Akido influenced martial arts moves are bone break-ingly no nonsense, macho stuff. He frowns a lot, he grimaces once in a while, he's sometimes photographed at unflattering angles, has vampire like teeth, and he ...

Walking Wounded

Advantages: Some good action
Disadvantages: lame plot, seen it all before

...eyebrows raised last year when Exit Wounds went straight to the top of the US box office with a $19 million take, the reason for this was the fact that any film starring Steven Seagal in last few years hasn't had the fortune to even make it to a cinema screen. Why this film was the exception is anyone's guess as there's nothing that makes it stand out from the pack in any way. Seagal plays Orin Boyd, a chicago cop who doesn't do things by the book ...
...in the genre. Exit Wounds is ultimately a film that is complete crap but still one that I didn't completely hate. For the 90 minutes I was entertained as the film is like all those dumb big banged action films of the 80's, however it's instantly forgettable and one that will only appeal as a keeper to those who love these kind of films with no question. ...

Advantages: some good action

...all. BOTTOM LINE Exit Wounds entertains, but it is limited. Andrzej Bartkowiak forces the semi interesting twists around the hip action. The overall heavily visual style doesn't make the film the most accessable. Although I have seen worse, this is not up there with other action classics. It is forced and somewhat ill concieved in certain places with a few good ideas burried deep under typecast characters and forced action and conflicts. It does ...

Seagal does it AGAIN

Advantages: Alot like Seagals other films, Realistic Fight Scenes, Anthony Anderson and Tom Arnold's sketch during the credits
Disadvantages: Alot like Seagals other films, Maybe a little too much like 'Romeo Must Die'

I went to see ‘Exit wounds’ knowing that the critics had given this movie a bad review but, as I’m a bit of a sucker for Steven Seagal movies, I went with a more open mind. I wanted action, guns and a couple of great fist fights, so I wasn’t really that disappointed and truly think that the critic’s opinion has been a little too harsh. Orin Boyd, played by Steven Seagal (Under Siege 1992), is a cop with a bad attitude ...
...in Detroit where policing is a little more heavy handed. Through the whole movie he investigates what appears to be police corruption with partner George Clark, acted by Isiah Washington (Out of Sight 1998). In the middle of the scam is a suspect criminal Latrell walker, performed by DMX (Romeo Must Die 2000) , and his friend night-club owner T.K., acted by Anthony Anderson (See Spot Run 2001), but as the film evolves Latrell isn’t all he seems, ...

Actually not that bad

Advantages: DMX looking good enoungh to bite!!
Disadvantages: Some more fighting scenes

Exit Wounds starring Steven Segal and the very HOT and talented DMX. ~ Steven Segal is a cop who doesn't really do his job "by the book" and therefore, his chief got feedup of all wrong doings and sent him to Detroit, which is one of the roughest areas in America, so that is tough anticts might be straightened out there. DMX is the brother of a "criminal" who was set up by the police to take the fall for there own law breaking activities. DMX who ...

But then in a fight scene which is director is known for, we later find out the hiden story about his brother, and his fight for justice. Segal who has some comedy lines in this movie, joins together with DMX to uncover the illegal business of some of the police officer. As we go through the ...

Exit Wounds - A comically bad film

Advantages: DMX - fine performance, excellent soundtrack, nicely choreographed fight scenes
Disadvantages: Horrific plot, horrific script, Seagal not improved his acting skills with age.

Steven Seagal stars as Orin Boyd, a tough American cop who gets rebuked for his handling of an assassination attempt, and ends up being transferred to a rough precinct in Detroit (though the film was actually filmed in Canada). There, he uncovers police corruption, and is soon on the trail of Latrell Walker played by rapper DMX (‘Romeo Must Die), and his sidekick T.K., played by Anthony Anderson (‘Romeo Must Die’, ‘Shaft’). ...

The title ‘Exit Wounds’ may invoke images of guns, fast cars, beautiful women, explosive action, martial arts and plenty of killings, and ‘Exit Wounds’ fulfils all these things, ...

DONT MISS THIS ONE

Advantages: great action throughout,Good story line, brillant acting and shots.
Disadvantages: none

I have just watched Exit Wounds on video and I must say that I really enjoyed this film, as I am a fan of Steven Segal, and have seen most of his films. This was action packed right from the beginning, and had some twists in the story line. I also love the way George Segal comes out with humorous phrases, throughout the film. Well, I’m now going to tell you about the story. Steven Segal, plays (Orin Boyd) who is a tough cop from Detroit who ...
...him, trying to save the vice president from being assassinated, he pushes him off a bridge into the water, saving his life, but he gets no thanks for it, instead he gets fired by his boss Frank and sent to the down town 15 precinct. He gets off to a bad start as he walks through the doors and asks a lady, where he can find the ring master running the circus, only to find out that she is the commander. Her name is Katie and she has read up on him ...

don't bother

Advantages: Sooo Cliched, so i suppose one may find it amusing
Disadvantages: predictable, cliched, steven segal!

This film is by no means worth watching. The Plot was predictable (Good Cops, and Bad cops, rough neighbourhood, club owners, drugs Blah blah blah etc....), the script was sooo cliched, and Steven Segal should have given up a long time ago! This film also stars the rapper DMX, although some people may enjoy his music,he should have stayed well away from the acting side of showbiz. Throughout the film, his efforts to show himself off as being intensly ...

Awesome film - A must see

Advantages: See above
Disadvantages: See above

After a string of straight-to-video clinkers ('Fire Down Below', 'The Patriot'), Steven Seagal made a surprise return to the top of the US box office charts earlier this year with this all-action thriller. At 49, the 'Under Siege' star is looking rather pudgy these days, and his famed martial arts prowess feels distinctly underpowered compared to new kids on the block like Jet Li, who appeared in director Andrzej Bartkowiak’s last picture, ...
...never going to win any awards for charisma, his beefcake heroics are ideally suited to an efficient slice of Hollywood mayhem that isn't afraid to make fun of his impassive macho persona. Seagal plays Orin Boyd, a no-nonsense Detroit cop first seen rescuing the Vice-President from an explosive ambush. His reward for his labours is to be busted down to traffic duty and transferred to the city's worst precinct, where he is soon embroiled in a million-dollar ...

30 million dollar film. 10 cents of thought. Oh.

Advantages: er...the film ended.
Disadvantages: Alas, it also began.

As no brainers go, this film doesn't need anyone reaching for the formaldehyde... Die Hard is a wonderful movie. Why do people get the idea that that means it should be xeroxed ad infinitum, and then even the SPINOFFS paralleled and copied into oblivion? For example, Under Siege (Seagals first really big success) was merely Die Hard on a boat. This film is merely Under Siege in a Detroit Neighborhood. Here's the plot...Orin Boyd (Seagal) is a Detroit ...

Shove him into the line of fire so Detroit PD can get their asses sued off when he kills someone. Do these scriptwriters think?) There he quickly encounters some corrupt cops selling heroin to drug dealers. The problem is, it's very difficult to tell who is ...
