Advantages: Great film based around true events Disadvantages: Not overly memorable
...of the gangster underworld, club and drug culture of East London and Essex were I suppose reasonably accurate. Certainly the writers and producers had researched things and Sean Bean did give a reasonably good performance.
Not the most memorable film but one which holds a particular significance to me. ...

...involved with the gangsters in Essex who controls nightclub security and hence supplies their shipments of illicit substances. Sean Bean plays Jason a nut case, who has been inside for 5 years and didn't tell any tales on his chums whilst doing time, but comes back in a bad mood because he doesn't get much reward for his silence and annoyed because all his boys are minted. THIS IS A TRUE STORY. It’s about an absolute hooligan (played very well ... ...edge, treats women terribly and doesn’t trust anyone. He’s not very smart either! The film takes a while to get going and there’s no real story for almost the first hour. There are just different scenes of violence and Bean re-establishing himself and making more money and taking over from different gangs. In these scenes you meet new characters, Beans sidekick (played by the bloke who robbed the train and did one to Acapulco with ...

...toss up between MI2 and Essex Boys, Essex Boys won.
The film is derived from the Essex Range Rover murders case from three or four years ago. The potential for a good story was good but I came away dissappointed.
I you know the Southend area you'll me more interested in picking out local landmarks than the story line. The only decent character was the driver Billy Wizz. Sean Bean (the star) tried too hard to be Vinnie Jones, some of the humour ...

Advantages: Good performances Disadvantages: Another 'Lahndon' Gangsta Flick
...an action/thriller based in the Essex underworld. It takes its main event - a multiple murder in a Range Rover - from a real event and puts a good story line around it. It is not the same league as Lock Stock but is still a good entertaining film. Sean Bean is very credible as the Hard Man, and has some good up-and-coming actors and actresses supporting him. The twists and turns in the plot offer plently of brain action as well as mindless violence ...

Advantages: I got a pack of tortilla's Disadvantages: No story line
I went to see Essex boys with my other half last Saturday as he really wanted to see it, I had to miss the chance of around 5 drinks in the pub, we bought our tickets and walked into the small cinema room which then made me think this film isn't going to be good, the film began and after 15 minutes I just wanted to run out of the room, it had no story line, and they tried to put on the Essex accents its was so crap (excuse my language) and then they ...

Advantages: all in all good film Disadvantages: hard to follow at times, sean bean not very convincing
I watched essex boys last night and the only other gangster flick i have seen before is lock stock so i was kinda expecting the same thing - wrong! It is based around a true story of a murder in essex in which 3 blokes were found mysteriously dead in a range rover. The plot is based around billy whizz who acts as the driver for 3 gangsters(one being sean bean)and he finds out what life is really like on the other side. There are some twists and turns ... ...the storyline away! There is a bit of comedy in it but its very dry. I didn't find it very gruesome or compelling in fact i actually lost the plot a couple of times. I didn't think sean bean was very convincing as a gangster either but then again the same could be said of vinnie jones but that worked. Alex Kingston (better known as Elizabeth in E R) was very good in it though as a gangster girlfriend but she couldn't quite get the cockney accent ...

Advantages: very realistic Disadvantages: very violent
This is a true gangster flick, and i loved it, which was a real surprise to me because my usual movie genre is girly films. This british film is without a doubt extremely violent and the characters are, well, i would not want to meet them in a dark alley. Based on a true story it shows the drug scene for what it really is and it has wonderful actors such as alex kingston to glamourise it as well. the main theme of this movie is you always reap the ...

Advantages: None Disadvantages: Poor film bad language and violent
I was really looking forward to the release of this film as I had seen some of it being filmed close to where I live and it was based on some killings and a Range Rover that was found in a field with dead bodies in. I was disappointed with the content of the film and thought the story could have been improved greatly. It stared Sean Bean and consisted of lots of swearing and violence. The special effects were non exsistant and in places the film ...

Essex Boys is based on a true story and book written by Bernard O'Mahony, who was a member of a gang which was tricked and brutally killed in Essex.
This true life crime left 3 men dead in a landrover in which a lad called Billy (Wizz) Reynolds was driving.
Billy was hired by this gang of drug barons to drive the members around from nightclub to nightclub, most of which this gang ran.
With every gang comes a rival gang and thing turn nasty when ...

Advantages: a gripping watch Disadvantages: lots of swearing
A typical British gangster flick and if like me you like Lock, stock / snatch / football factory etc you will love this film. Main character is Jason Locke (Sean Bean) who just released from prison soon slides back into the seedy underworld of nightclubs, drugs and guns based around Southend in Essex. He acquires himself a young chauffeur by the name of Billy Whizz, a young lad who starts of quite innocently driving Locke around only to end up having ... ...not liking what he sees, but its hard to say no when you've seen what you've seen, and realise it could be you next. Locke realises that times have changed since he's been inside and a vicious turn of events sees shootings and drug dealings getty nastier and nastier eventually ending up in a double crossing over a drug deal with a thrilling end. this is based on true events and is a good watch. lots of swearing probably a bit excessive in parts but ...

...it at a reasonable price. Essex Boys is a british film inspired by the Rettendon Range Rover Murders, a truelife event which left three men dead, two serving life imprisonment & another living under an assumed identity. The story is about a power struggle and whoever controls the nightclubs in southend is also in control of the illegal sale of drugs. Its a film full of doublecrossing and violence and its all just for pure greed. The film has lots ... ...to your seat.I found this film quite enjoyable though I wouldn't recommend it if you are of a squeamish nature. The film is directed by Terry Winders. His performance as this character is very real and convincing. The film also stars Alex Kingston, Charlie Creed-Miles and Tom Wilkinson, and ...
