...adverts on the TV when Eragon was in the cinema and thought it looked ok but never got round to seeing it. I had actually forgotten all about it until I received it the other day. My mum who also watched it with me likes these kinds of films such as The Chronicles of Narnia and so on so she joined me in watching this one. Although he directed Eragon this is the first movie he has directed. He is known for his brilliant works on visual effects of adventure Sci-Fi films which include classics such as- The Bourne Identity (2002), Dreamcatcher (2003) and Wanted (2008). He has been nominated for three Oscars and has won several awards for his work. I think he did a great job directing this and he is considered a man amongst one hundred people from Hollywood ...

...much worse... The problem with Eragon isn't that it's a bad film, but that it is a terrible adaption and it is in no way what it could have been, had the producers had the slightest interest in maintaining SOME symmetry with the book - rather than making a quick buck from a film that you don't need to have read the story beforehand - and to be sincere doesn't need to have half a brain cell - to understand.
Right, down to the dirty business. The ... ...as Dragonheart (see that, it's Eragon done with more passion), simply because the characters aren't completely two-dimesional. And Sean Connery's Draco could kick Saphira's butt by sheer enthusiasm.
Anyway, admittedly there is a lot wrong with this film, but there is also quite a bit that makes it enjoyable to watch. One of them being Jeremy Irons. Though in truth he struggles along with some regrettably clichéd dialogue, he does manage to bring ...

...was mixed up too.
Eragon is played by Ed Speelers. Ed isn't a favourite actor of mine, in my opinion he's not that good of an actor to be totally honest, and I bet you anything he has never read the book, and therefore that may have made me hate this film more and more, as I did expect the character to be brave but scared at the same time, however Ed did not show that in the film and changed the character all together. Eragon is a farm boy in his late-teen years who lives in a small village named Carvahall in the fictional and magical country of Alagaësia that contains dragons and other such fictional creatures. ...characters and the character of Eragon made the change from farmer to dragon-rider/ warrior/ mage far too quickly and unbelievably. Furthermore, the primary antagonist, Galbatorix, gets practically no screen time at all and became a minor character, working from the shadows.

It matches all but the best of films on action, however, it's poor, copied storyline puts it near the bottom of it's genre for plot and characters. In fairness to Stefen Fangmeier, this was his first film as a director so he should'n't be judged to harshly on it.

We have wanted to see Eragon for a long time and actually got round to it last week. The film is broadly a fantasy film and from looking at the trailers / advertising you could be forgiven for thinking it is just a "Lord of the Rings" rip of but there is more to it than that.
Yes it is, like many other films about the power of good over evil and it also features dragons but really that is where the similarites end. The movie is set in the Kingdom ... ...is where a young boy, Eragon (Ed Speleers), finds the egg whilst out hunting, and takes it home believing it to be nothing more than a very nice, shiny purple stone.
Not long after, the 'stone' hatches (it hadn't hatched before as dragon eggs only hatch when cared for by their true fated master) into a relatively cute dragon, Saphira (voiced by Rachel Weisz). As Saphira grows so does Eragons realisation that he is destined to become a dragon rider ...

Jeremy Irons excels as Brom, and Malkovich, although not featured much, is the perfect menacing tyrant. The graphics and special effects in this movie are stunning. Advantages: Some good acting talent and good action scenes Disadvantages: Not faithful to the original storyline
Not what you might call a smash hit. This movie has caused fans of the series by Christopher Paolini to cry out in horror. The movie rarely sticks to the book's plot, adding details such as a shadow dragon and dragon fight towards the end, and omitting key points such as the twins and Katrina.
This has not only upset fans, but has made it nigh on impossible for movie makers to create a sequel to this movie, as both Katrina and the Twins play key ... ...Ed Speelers has also been branded as wrong for the part of Eragon. He seems to be in a state of permanant surprise/wonderment/stupidity. The fact that Arya was played by a blonde was also a sore point with fans, and there is no sign in the film of her pointed ears. In fact, they are noticibly rounded.
However, if you haven't read the book, then you will probably enjoy the movie. It is, admittedly, full of good action sequences, and there is some ...

Advantages: None Disadvantages: Everything - plot is a Lord of the Rings copy, never seems to end, boring
I watched this film last year on the big screen (cinema) with my school. The trailer looked interesting and I was genuinely intrigued with what the story might actually be about.
Then you actually start watching it and wonder why you bothered to waste your money on this trash! The plot is a complete cop-out of Lord of the Rings with a few subtle differences. The film seemed never ending - the screen dims down and you think "wow I can finally get ... ...you realise it's not yet over.
Lord of the Rings in my opinion is very entertaining and an interesting story. This on the other hand is a copy of it, done fairly obvious but with the plot completely mucked up! Even the name of the film has allusions to Aragorn in Lord of the Rings - how obvious do you get? The theme and appearance of dragons is constantly annoying and reminds me of the Ringwraiths of LotR.
Complete waste of time and 100% NOT recommended. ...

...film adaptation of the book eragon by Cristopher Paolini. The directer and script writer must have beat themselves round the head repeatedly with a brick. This film was a real let down after being a massive fan of the books.
