I'll admit that I didn't go into this film with high expectations. Off the back ... ...to blend them into the Elektra style. I'm not familiar with the comics, but the story was so disjointed and uninteresting that it in no way encouraged me to look out for them.
The film is made by long time X Files director Rob Bowman, which initially made me think I'd enjoy it. I quite quickly found the opposite and the direction didn't really help to uncomplicated the story. There were too many needless flashbacks within the plot, where one would ...

...at the end of “Daredevil”, Elektra is resurrected and taught the way of the Kimaguri by mentor Stick. Unfortunately, he ... ...good things from this film; Elektra was the most interesting character in “Daredevil” and Jennifer Garner has proved engaging in “Alias” and “13 Going on 30”. The director has made some strange assumptions about his audience; thinking that everyone viewing the film must have already seen “Daredevil” and therefore have some foreknowledge of the character. In fact he seems to have made a film strictly for the fanboys, as he introduces so many poorly ...

Advantages: Good costumes Disadvantages: Ham acting
From the moment I knew Elektra was coming to the big screen, I eagerly awaited it's arrival. From the outset it was clear to see I was going to be disappointed.
Jennifer Garner (from tv's "alias") plays the indomitable Elektra, a highly trained fighter and assassin who, after being extradicted from her training camp and sensai, begins to get a grip of herself and life on the outside world.
Elektra is hired to kill a man and his daughter - the details ... ...moment of "will-she, won't she", Elektra decides she will help Mr Miller and his daughter escape the clutches of "The Hand".
That's the main premise. A bit vague and very basic to say the least. Directed by Rob Bowman, the man behind the X-Files, Elektra fails to deliver the excitement and hype it comanded. The acting in this film compares to that of Kylie Mingoue, Raul Julia and Jean-Claude Van Damme in "Street Fighter". It's bad.
One thing that ...

...of Elektra. Having been resurrected Elektra is trained by a blind tutor called Stick to be more badass than before. When Elektra takes on an assassination job she finds herself targeting a young girl and her father. They are wanted by a mysterious group known as 'The Hand' because the girl has some powers or something. This all leads to a bit of kung fu action where people have clearly been watching too many Asian films.
The thing with Elektra is ... ...episode of Alias. Elektra is a boring waste of time that really shouldn't have made it to the big screen. The Daredevil movie was a pretty average affair so why they decided to make this movie is a mystery. Needless to say it was a resounding flop on its release.
I would try and offer you more but there's not a lot to write about and even thinking about it coma inducing.

Advantages: Superb Action, Jennifer Garner, So much better than Daredevil Disadvantages: Not the greatest script, some of the supporting characters
...not quite the case with Elektra but it is all her without a doubt. The plot, to be fair, is not really as bad as people have made out, especially as it's a comic book adaptation which some seem to forget. The script on the other hand leaves much to be desired. And to be fair so do the vast majority of the supporting characters.
This of course leads to certain Miss Grner who carries this film superbly, she really does put in a sterling performance ... ...other reason you should see this film, the fight scenes. Ayone with even a passing interest in maial arts/fighting should watch this. Some of the techniques just make you smile!!! I seen the making of and she does all the fighting herself!
My final opinion is that while not quite matching the X-men films it beats all the other comic book adaptations and does what it says on the tin.

Advantages: Jennifer Garner! Disadvantages: Other actors let it down, and the script is crap
I highly anticipated the release of Elektra, having been a fan of Jennifer Garner. However I was pretty much disappointed. I felt the plot was awful. Going back to Elektra's past was a good point I felt but there was a lot of different points, and it got confusing at times for me.
The script was ok. Not of the quality I like in a film, but enough to keep the film alive.
The action was what made the film somewhat enjoyable. Using slow-motion, which ... ...if so then yay! The stunts were incredible, and made it worth watching.
As for the performances, Jennifer was the one I paid to watch and basically she was the only one I really liked. Terrence Stamp made a cool appearance as Elektra's mentor of sorts, a nice addition as I admire the man's talents, and he acted well. As for the rest, I would have wiped them off the casting list. Overall it wasnt the best film. Excellent costumes, makeup and stunts ...

Advantages: Jennifer Garner in tight outfits. She also makes out with a chick! Disadvantages: Poor acting especially by the villains, overuse of special effects...
Elektra continues from Daredevil, were Elektra (Jennifer Garner of ALIAS fame) was killed off by BullsEye and here she has been mystical revived from the dead and here is here quest to fashion her own path, often deviating between bad and good.
That is as far as i will go with the plot as i do not wish to spoil it for you guys but i thought it was a fairly interesting film, despite some poor acting in places. The story i though was quite brilliant ... ...pretty shoddy. The final fight scene between good and evil was hugely anti-climactic and overused slow motion which made the fight scene drag on where not needed.
Its still a nice way to spend 90 mins for comic book fans and Jennifer Garner admirers out there.
It also has a nice special features bit where you can link back to Daredevil and Ben Affleck gets a bit of a cameo.
All in all a nice action film, without being overly happy! ...

Advantages: kick ass super heroine!!! good visuals, great soundtrack Disadvantages: marvel rushed the film, and this is its main problem
...people seem to think that Elektra is a sequel to the previous Marvel film release Daredevil, Elektra is a standalone DVD in the superhero genre in more ways than one.
Whilst it is certainly true that Elektra did first appear to the masses as a part of the plot of Daredevil, she is also very much her own person in the rest of the Marvel Universe.
Elektra is the first of the newer Marvel enterprise's release to feature a female superhero, and in ... ...not all it seems and Elektra turns protector for the pair against a much more sinister foe, whom she has personal history with. Some interesting characters in the film cried out for a little more development, including Typhoid Mary, and it is these things that mainly frustrate me, as while i fully admit i like my comics and thus my superhero genre to begin with, there is so much more Marvel could have done with this film if they had only waited a ...

Advantages: Good SFX, good action sequences, deeper potential Disadvantages: Too shallow, too simple, too half-hearted.
Elektra dies at the end of Daredevil. Sorry for spoiling that, but it's something you'll need to know for this film. However, death presents few problems in the Marvel Universe, and Terence Stamp's blind sensei resurrects the basque-wearing beauty for the good of mankind. We learn that she isn't just a kick-ass assassin dressed like an Anne Summers mannequin, oh no: Elektra holds the balance between good and evil in the palm of her hand. As expected, ... ...once or twice but never made into much. For fans of the superhero genre, however, Elektra is sure to be a hit: far better than Hulk and The Punisher, only slightly worse than Daredevil, but sadly nowhere near the likes of Spiderman.
