HIS SCARS RUN DEEP. Review ofEdward Scissorhands (DVD)by

Advantages: A magical film with a wonderful story. Disadvantages: None.
...dilapidated state, depressing and gloomy. Edward Scissorhands is a strange invention, born of an elderly inventor who died before he had a chance to complete him. Edward has no social skills due to his isolation; he is painfully shy and barely utters a word, save for small utterances. He is a gentle soul under a definite handicap. In place of hands he has a mass of varying size scissors. The inventor, (Vincent Price) had plans to give him hands to ...

Advantages: Excellent storyline, superb acting Disadvantages: There aren't any at all
Edward (Johnny Depp) isn’t your usual man, not only has he been invented by a renowned inventor who has since died but because of the premature death of his inventor Edward wasn’t finished. He has been left with scissors for hands and after his inventor and only friend passed away Edward has been living in a creepy looking mansion all by himself.
That’s until local Avon representative Peg Boggs (Dianne Wiest) makes her way into the mansion for ...

Advantages: The ultimate cult-classic Disadvantages: The story is too daft and far fetched for some people
Edward Scissorhands is the ultimate cult-classic DVD must-have. Released way back in 1990 the film looks a little dated, though for me this adds nostalgia and fondness to the whole film experience.
I first saw this film more than a decade ago and have watched it over and over again on my Special Edition DVD. As with all good films it has never lost its charm or magic and is still as appealing to me today as it ever was.
The film is directed ...

Edward Scissorhands reminds me of when I was a child. I used to watch it every year at Christmas and it was one of my favourite films.

...let him off. However, Edward Scissorhands must be his finest moment. I must admit I've only just got round to watching it, despite the fact it was made 16 years ago - it was definitely worth the wait.
Johnny Depp looks about twelve playing the Edward in question; a monster created by a mad professor (Vincent Price) in a spooky castle at the top of a hill. Sadly, the professor died just before he fitted Edward with his human hands, leaving him with ...

But Edward's flare for inventive haircuts and gardening make him the perfect houseguest and he finds himself in demand by the local housewives. However, a brush with the law, and a proclaimation of love for Pegs daughter Kim results in the townsfolk turning on him, and he soon finds ...

...film about a creation called Edward that was never finished by his creator. The part of Edward that was never finished was his hands, so instead of Edward having normal hands with fingers, Edward has scissors in their place. Edward lives alone in the same gothic castle that he was created in, and hasn’t been outside the gates of the castle at all. However one day Edward is surprised to find that the ‘Avon Lady’ (Peg Boggs) turns up at his castle trying ...

...pleasure to watch his movies. Edward Scissorhands is one of his finest, a slight tale which retreads the Beauty and the Beast formula, but with magnificent wit and imagination.
Edward is created by an old inventor, living a solitary life in a typically gothic Burton castle. The inventor dies before completing Edward and he is left with scissors for hands. How this film ever got funding with a premise like that is quite astounding, but when the ...

Advantages: Gorgeous visuals, solid acting, good story, Elfman soundtrack Disadvantages: Not on DVD yet
...If you have not seen Edward Scissorhands, then you are missing the best example of his work. Johnny Depp and Winona Ryder are perfect in their roles, and help drive the emotion that runs through the movie. The visuals are Burton at his best - dark, imaginative, and twisted. I feel the movie combines Burton's typical style with the black humour of films like Pleasantville and Truman Show. This is the sort of movie that you would be best to buy on DVD, ...

She cheesily accepted his hands as being long noisy pieces of stiff tinfoil – at least, that is what they sounded like! All the houses are eerily aligned and painted bright colours to emphasise the cheerfulness of the community, it's a picturesque perfect world that seems odder than the gothic clouded castle on the other end of town.
Then one mother and housewife from that ...
