Advantages: All new material, So funny even Americans can get it, The opening Alcatraz segment - pure genius. Also, there's a book that you can get! Disadvantages: Some might find it a bit TOO political
Eddie Izzard's fifth video release is the first that sees him stray from the relative comfort and safety of these British Isles and dare to have his gig recorded in that bastion of the American judiciary system, San Francisco.
Opening on a video of tourists going for a visit to Alcatraz, accompanied by Eddie's commentary ("An FBI agent takes close-up photos of someone's kneecaps" and "Drugs money is exchanged for favours and... well, drugs, mainly"), ... ...but plenty of big laughs.
Being in America seems to open up a lot of new areas for Izzard, and so we are treated to his take on Scooby Doo and Shaggy ("Two of the greatest characters in American literature"), JFK's (played by James Mason) visit to Berlin ("Ich bin ein Berliner"... but a Berliner is a type of doughnut they have over there") and the moon landings ("Help, there's a monster behind me!"). As well as this, he explores the origins of the ...

Advantages: Funny, Clever, Interesting Disadvantages: Cant think of any
...My sister buys a video, Eddie Izzard, I think to myself who is this guy dressed like a woman, or dressed like a real cool guy but has make up on. At first I was reluctant to watch it “Turn it off, its boring me” I kept yelling at my sister, I wasn’t paying much attention to the guy at first. Then one summer morning I couldn’t go to sleep it was around 3.30 and I was so tired, but I couldn’t go to sleep. So I go downstairs ... ...I watch almost everything, and Eddie makes some good points about films. For example;
“Saving Private Ryan, was about the 2nd World War, but there was not a single Brit. in the film, Tom hanks never asked the British where Private Ryan was, and we could of told him we all knew, could of saved him 2 hours.”
“In Star Wars you never see the Death Star’s canteen for all the staff, why is that?”
And then he would act out ...

Advantages: Eddie can take the p*ss out the Americans without them even realising! Disadvantages: He talks about the Queen Mother - who's unfortunately dead now!
This is Eddie Izzard's fifth show released on video and is set on the infamous prisoner island of Alcatraz in San Francisco. This is his first show in America and possibly one of his best!
For those of you not familiar with the 'Man' he is a stand up comedian who can everthing funny ranging from the Big Bang to dogfood! He is also a transvestite which just adds that little bit of glamour and glitz to his fantastic outfits and stage lights. He made ... ...focusing on tourists visiting Alcatraz. Eddie here adds his hilarious and frequently irrelevant comments to the 'drug dealers' and 'prisoners' travelling to Alcatraz.
As this is Eddie's first show in America he can experiment with other jokes, like when JFK visited Berlin stating he was a doughnut in German! Eddie still takes us through his favourite thoughts of the wars and Hitler - 'The mass murdering f**ckhead! - as many importent historians ...

Advantages: The 1st Battalion Transvestite Brigade Airborne wing Disadvantages: You will annoy your mates by constantly quoting it
Eddie Izzard probably the best stand up comic in the World (bar Billy Connolly) and who can take that away from someone who can take the absolute mick out of the american audience and leave them dying of laughter like i was.
This DVD is a film of his show on Alcatraz island in San Fransico or "The City" for those of you who have seen the DVD. It was Eddies breakthrough show to the US and won an Emmy. For those of you who dont know who eddie izzard ... ...tourist heading to Alcatraz, with Eddie talking hilarious bollocks over the top. It then cuts to Eddie coming on stage with the first lines "I'm a professional transvestite so I can run about in heels and not fall over" as you do. His act is mostly about teaching the Americans about two things they know nothing about, history and everywhere else in the world than America. Such as the formation of the Anglican church and the two World Wars "Hitler ...

Advantages: Izzard is a stand up genius! Disadvantages: Overly political at times.
Lets start out with this. Eddie Izzard is a great stand up comedian. However, those of you who like to be told jokes should buy a Chubby Brown video.
This video is set in San Francisco ("not San Fran, no apparently not, its THE CITY!). This means Izzard starts with a short tour including a hilarious offbeat look at trams and the prison of Alcatraz.
For observational humour Eddie is second to none. For those of you who remember "Glorious" this video ... ...it is great to see Eddie ripping apart American gun culture and the American dream (see title). He doesn't stop at Americans though he also takes apart the British Empire, Ottoman Empire(famous for its furniture) and the Germans.
The great thing about Izzard is he does all of this with you agreeing with every word even the things about your own culture.
With many laugh out loud moments this is a must buy for all fans of observational humour.
