Advantages: Jeremy Irons, special effects Disadvantages: Extrememly weak plot
...mornings for the cult cartoon Dungeons and Dragons, and I few weeks ago I was overjoyed to finally hear about the movie. In hindsight, I shouldn't have got so excited.
The film wasn't exactly afwul, per se, more awful elements that pulled down the overall effect. The acting was only kept up by the eccentrically evil Jeremy Irons and the wryly weird Richard O'Brien. Simply put, these were the only memorable performances and certainly didn't save ... ...explosion.
So, simply sitting and waiting for the final battling dragons scene wasn't really worth the money. Sure the name may lure you into it and if you are a real Dungeons and Dragons fans you may actually like it. Everybody else, rent the video when there's nothing better on. ...

Advantages: Cool sfx Disadvantages: Plotline, what plotline?
I went into "Dungeons and Dragons" with no expectations whatsoever...and I'm quite glad that I did! Don't get me wrong, I thought it was OK, I'm not really into fantasy films anyway and this one seemed to be a good yarn...although I'm not entirely sure exactly what the plotline was!! It was something about trying to find a rod or something, the usual good vs evil stuff. I always think that Jeremy Irons is at his best when playing the bad guy and ... ...O'Brien is in it too, so it was nice to see him, seeing as how I'm a huge fan of his (it's a Rocky Horror thang!)
I loved the dragon battle especially, and I thought the special effects were fantastic. But as I said in my title...the ending. What the hell was that about?!!! I wouldn't class this as a must see, but it's reasonably entertaining. ...

Advantages: Good effects Disadvantages: Awfull acting
Im sorry but this film seemed as if it had been directed and written by Quinten Tarentino. I say this because there was so much taken out of other movies, just like he would do. Not forgeting of course that it took about half an hour for a plot to be developed, even then it was hard to distinguish what the plot was, was it to kill the evil "MP" or to find a magic wand.
The film was about a young thief who finds himself on a quest to find the magic ... ...his journay he meets up with other people of different species who help him to his victory. I felt this was a bit of a cliche, espechially with the boy meets girl boy saves girl aspect of it
Putting aside all the basic structure of the film, I shall say 1 ting on its behalf, the effects were stunning and beutifull, te first scene in the film was of a river and the town, and i found it hard to believe that this was not real.
In conclusion, if you ...

Advantages: none - it's that bad Disadvantages: don't get me started
This is going to be a short opinion - why?
Well heres the storyline
Some Dragons and some FX, er, ok cool lets make a movie to rip of D&D fans.
I am not a big role play fan but this blistering pile of dragon shite is not worth even a free admission ticket.
The fx are OK - OK being they look good - well good enough to be the inbetween sequences on that D & D PC game you just brought.
Please, please wait until you can see this for free, do not ...
