This 2006 BBC adaptation of Bram Stokerīs novel manages to make something scandalous : turn Dracula as dull. Stewart Harcourtīs script has young aristocrat Arthur Holmwood marrying Lucy despite horrible sickness in his family and searching cure from ancient blood cult. Marc Warren is not very good Dracula - yes, the Count is there too, but seems to be added as an afterthought - and, thanks to the flat photography, atmosphere is non-existent. The film simply LOOKS bad - typical BBC period drama instead of gorgeous and atmospheric Gothic vampire classic. Sophia Myles and Stephanie Leonidas are so-so as Lucy and Mina.
