Domino comes tumbling down

Advantages: Some great actors, good action scenes
Disadvantages: The story, all flash and style without content

Domino is the latest film from Tony Scott, brother of Ridley, a man whose career has been almost as star studded as his brothers but has never quite hit the same critical acclaim. Not to say he doesn't make good films, he does, or maybe that should be he did. Top Gun and Last Boy Scout are great films but they are long in the past now and he has now seemingly decided to concentrate on star studded action films full of inventive, stylish touches that ...
...begin to grate. Domino is the true story, sort of, (their words not mine!) of Domino Harvey, daughter of Laurence Harvey a British actor who starred in the original Manchurian Candidate. A rich girl who rebelled against her life of privilege, she had attitude in abundance and became a high class model, she hated that life though and decided she wanted a career as a bounty hunter, so that she could do all the things she wanted to….legally! Domino ...

Advantages: Knightly is great, fun from start to finish.
Disadvantages: Could have been more thoughtful than it is, and more effective as a result.

...captions. It just didn't work. DOMINO is Scott taking it to the next level, not only are the violent scenes depicted in an even more hallucinogenic light, but the whole film is filled with that said stylisation. The difference between the films though is that in DOMINO's case this actually works in its favour… A big reason it works so well here is the way the story is told. Based very loosely on the true tale of bounty hunter Domino Harvey who tragically ...
...showing the audience both how Domino entered the world she inhabits, and telling the films complex main plot about a bounty pick up gone wrong. Because of the way the film is edited and looks there's a highly kinetic feel to the whole thing that just makes it flow oh so smoothly no matter how often we jump back and forth in time. At the heart of the film and ultimately why it works as well as it does though, is not Scott's direction, but Keira Knightley's ...

My Name Is Domino Harvey I Am A Bounty Hunter

Advantages: Great Storyline Characters And Actors
Disadvantages: Not A True Likelyness Of Domino Harvey

Domino DVD Samuel Hadida presents A Tony Scott Film This film is meant to be loosely based on the life of Domino Harvey. However the only similarities there are that can be mentioned is the upbringing and job of the character. The character Domino Harvey played by Kiera Knightley (Pirates Of The Caribbean / Bend It Like Beckham) is a girl who is from a well of background. She is english with an actor dad who died when she was young. This led to ...
...hard rock cafe and Domino was placed in boarding school with her pet fish Sammy . When Sammy dies she decided never to become emotionally attatched to anything ever again. Domino faces a short time as a model but this obvious does not fit her fiery temper and decides this isnt for her. When Domino sees an advert to become a bounty hunter in a newpaper advertisement she quickly decides this is what she wants to do. This is where she meets her future ...

Heads you live, tails you die

Advantages: Pretty entertaining stuff
Disadvantages: Hard to tell what was fact and what was fiction

...days - 'My name is Domino Harvey and I am a bounty hunter'. This was enough to put me off the film. That was until I read an article about the real Domino Harvey and realised that if the film was anything like her actual life it may be worth a look. Domino Harvey was (according to the film) a rich girl gone bad. Her father was an actor before he died and her mum was a model, more interested in her social life than paying much attention to Domino. ...
...the UK to Hollywood. Domino cut her hair off, developed a bit of a bad attitude and decided she wanted to be a Bounty Hunter. Obviously I've already mentioned her violent tendencies so add this to her skills with various weapons and she may have found the perfect job. Enter Ed Moseby (Mickey Rourke), the bounty hunter / con man with a heart. He and his sidekick Choco (Edgar Ramirez) have a reputation for getting the job done. Domino has to prove ...

Bounty Hunter Knightley

Advantages: Decent enough cast
Disadvantages: Poorly cut

...real life of Bounty Hunter Domino Harvey, played pretty well by the lovely Keira Knightley. Most of the film is shot in the very Tarentino style of flashback as Domino is questioned by an FBI agent played by the woefully under used Lucy Liu. The film follows the life of Domino from childhood to her arrest and whoever made this film had definitely seen FAR too many Tarentino films for their own good. The film is a the story of 3 bounty hunters who ...
...money, implication of the wrong people for that theft, staged but fake killings of those people and another double cross to involve the Mafia and FBI. The film and it's various double crosses are far too complex and as such this is why the film is almost an hour too long. It could be cut very easily but the director was determined to play out all the various plot lines to their conclusions no matter what happened and how much he bored the viewers ...

The Domino toppled

Advantages: Interesting story
Disadvantages: Everything else is crap

...her films outbefore passing comment. Domino was my film of choice, and guess what - it's still the silly rich girl trying to do grown up boys things - this time she plays the part of bounty hunter Domino Harvey who before her death commented that she was unhappy with her portrayal in the film and I'm not surprised at all. Knightley plays an unconcvincing rich girl turned punk who is good with num chucks, her phrases are dull and the scenarios are ...

Rourke initially turned down the film, saying he did not like the role, but agreed to do the film when Tony Scott had the role rewritten. * Edgar Ramirez as Choco * Riz Abbasi as Alf * Delroy Lindo as Claremont Williams III * Mo'Nique as Lateesha Rodriguez * Dabney Coleman as Drake Bishop * Lucy Liu as Taryn Mills * Jacqueline Bisset as Sophie Wynn * Christopher Walken as Mark ...

A Girl named Domino

Advantages: Good story
Disadvantages: ------

...scenes and images. Domino Harvey was a beautiful and rich girl, daughter of a model and an actor. She lived in Hollywood and started her "career" as a model. But Domino was a rebel, she wanted something more from life. The girl found out what she was looking for: she became a "bounty killer": she met her collegues in a rather odd way, then started her job: haunting criminals. Domino became the core of the "team"; they organized projects, untill ...
...wanted Domino and her buddies to shoot a "reality show". Soon the situation starts worsening.. There are violence, weakness, sadness and the rest, which I leave it up to you to discover... Tony Scott prefers a baroque scene, with irregular shoots, colors supersaturates with green, black ocher and an invasive and omnipresent soundtrack. As for actors, Mickey Rourke plays Mickey Rourke well and often, but here, despite the violence, he shows signs ...

Well worth a watch

Advantages: lots of action, good performance from Knightley and a interesting storyline
Disadvantages: becomes quite hard to follow at some stages

...the story. The film follows Domino (played by Keira Knightley) from childhood to retirement as a bounty hunter and shows how her work collegues become her family-as the only people she can trust. I was surprised Knightley managed to play the daring, dangerous Domino so well, a role I wouldn't have labelled her as being able to do, but credit to her. If you like action films and a good plot, then don't miss out on this film ...

Domino

Advantages: A fair bit of action, Kiera's accent
Disadvantages: Confusing, story not portrayed well

...It is a story of Domino Harvey, the model turned bounty hunter, daughter of Lawrence Harvey, British actor. Domino is played by Kiera Knightly who is very harsh and firey in this film. The film starts with Domino talking to an FBI agent (Lucy Lui), presumably she has been arrested for something but at this time we do not know what. Domino goes on to tell her story, how she was a bit of tom-boy and how her mother left her at a boarding school in ...

Meeting with the person running the seminar, Ed Moseby (Micky Rourke), Domino ends up joining his team much to the disgust of his right hand mand Choco (who insists on speaking Spanish even though no one understands him, played by Edgar Ramirez). The team run around swinging their guns and taking people who have skipped ...

Domino: Mean Machine

Advantages: lots of big bangs
Disadvantages: acting not amazing

...based upon the life of Domino Harvey, the english born model turned all american bounty hunter. As a peron and a character, she is flawed, but you love her all the same. Her bording school manners have long been forgotten in this full throtle film. If you like Knightley, this will be a surprise, though her 'method' of acting I find the same. Not that I could see Elizabeth Bennet replacing Domino. Also, its one of those films, in which you catch ...
