...long and, being the only Doctor Who story to be filmed entirely on location, looks rather gorgeous. Still there's a tendency to spend the first fifteen minutes thinking how gosh darned lucky it is that, out of the whole planet, the transmat beacon the Doctor's been asked to repair and the survivors from the crash end up within a good few hundred yards of each other.
Leaving aside mad coincidences, there's also the bizarre fact that, given almost ... ...at each other, whilst the Doctor gets to be terribly clever and then gets Harry (for a lovely change) to save the day. Highlights include the utterly unconvincing robot hunting the settlers on the moors, Harry falling down a whacking great hole and the Doctor delivering a rather smashing line about clocks.
There's just about enough story to cover the very limited screen time, but more than enough scenery to distract from the shortcomings there. ...

Advantages: Another good episode Disadvantages: none
Doctor Who the sontarran experiment is a two part adventure which i must admit, a very good two part adventure. Since Doctor Who has never been good at doing 2 part episodes, i thought this would be another bad adventure, boy i was wrong.
The Story
The Doctor and his companions beam down from Space station Nerva to the scarred remains of earth to find it deserted, calm and peaceful, as it should be. But trouble is bound to be around the corner ... ...of a crashed ship. The Doctor discovers that one being is behind all of what had happened, A Sontarran scout who is scouting earth and experimenting on humans to find out whether earth is a likely planet for sontarran invasion. But can the Doctor stop the sontarrans?
Well, to start, the story for this episode is very well done and very original. It really is a good story.
The performance were good all round. Tom Baker kept that humour of the doctor, ...

Advantages: Strong story and excellent pace. Disadvantages: None.
This lovely 2 parter immediately precedes the greatest Dr Who story ever, 'Genesis of The Daleks'. It takes place on an allegedly abandoned earth in the future. But the Dr , Sarah and Harry stumble across some shipwrecked colonists, who one by one are being dispatched in ever more lethal tests, by a lone Sontaran, who are hell bent on taking over this part of the galaxy, as they continue their never ending war against the Rutans. This is a fast paced ... ...is really well acted, particularly by Elizabeth Sladen, as she becomes the victim of the Sontaran experiments. Although there are some obvious scenes where the Dr is played by the stuntman, this can be excused, as Tom Baker suffered a serious shoulder injury during filming. But overall this is a delightful little story.
The extras again are good value. There is the usual cast commentary and interesting facts, plus a lovely photo gallery, which has ...
