...only thing I knew about Doctor Who was that it used to scare my Mom silly and she used to hide behind the sofa when she was little as her brother would always make her watch it. Being a science fiction fan as soon as I heard they were remaking Doctor Who I decided I would sit down and watch it despite never seeing any of the older series. When it finally came on TV, I was addicted and now I own all of the episodes on DVD and have watched them all ...

Doctor Who hits back with a bang!

Advantages: Great rebirth of the doctor
Disadvantages: None really

...consistently watched the revival of Doctor Who, first with Christopher Eccleston as the Doctor, then with David Tennant taking over the role. She tried to persuade me to watch them, but it is something that I had never really been fussed with. Growing up at my parents' house, I would occasionally watched a rerun of one of the older Doctor Whos, such as Patrick Troughton and Jon Pertwee, and I found them interesting, but I didn't really follow them ...
...bigger than a house! The Doctor is a Time Lord, and has taken many forms, and each time he disappears he reappears having regenerated in a different human form. This explains the numerous different actor who have played him. The show ran successfully until 1989, when viewing figures plummeted. There was a TV movie starring Paul McGann in 1996, which I vaguely remember, and then a 9 year gap before Russell T Davies revamped the doctor as Christopher ...

Advantages: The best re-invention of a popular sci-fi series that there has ever been......
Disadvantages: None- this is as good as a new DOCTOR WHO show was ever going to get.....

...when I was a kid DOCTOR WHO was one of those programmes you just had to watch. My era started mid-way through the Tom Baker years and carried on through his next incarnation as Peter Davidson. During the Colin Baker/ Sylvester McCoy years, I strayed from the fold as stories got a little silly and the acting became a little over-the-top. Then The Doctor did what he does best. He disappeared from our screens destined possibly never to return...... ...
...was announced to bring The Doctor back, with the help of American funding, and featuring Paul McCann in the next regeneration, the idea was met with much anticipation. Unfortunately the Americans never really got Doctor Who and to be fair, the movie pilot wasn't THAT good and so the idea never got recommissioned as more than a one-off..... Which brings us to 2005..... Russell.T.Davies announced the return of The Doctor as you had never seen him ...

And his performance must have been so strong as we as a whole are still obsessed with this gripping programme, 44 years later! Since then, we have met 10 Doctors, and adored every one of them! Advantages: ot your typical serious sci-fi series
Disadvantages: DVD is lacking in the extras department

...just finished watching BBC new Doctor Who series and it's better than I thought it would be. I had only seen the first couple episodes of the 1979 Doctor Who series as a kid and loved them. I got up to the episode with the green slime, got to scared to watch any more and stopped. I had also seen a couple of Doctor Who movies with Peter Cushing, but that's about it. I am no Doctor Who expert, but I know what I like. And the 2005 season I liked it ...

The Doctor and his companion will travel through space and time with the help of the TARDIS (Time And Relative Dimensions In Space ), team-up with a bisexual time traveller, and encounter a few Daleks, evil mannequins, aliens with bowel problems, Parasites that live in time paradoxes, Ghosts, Zombies and other imaginative enemies. New Era

Advantages: Who is back.
Disadvantages: No Extras, not the best stories.

In 2005 Doctor Who returned to our screens after a long break. It was a ratings success and was the undoubted BBC hit of the Summer. This review of the first 3 episodes of the re-imagined series will be longer than the rest of my reviews, since I will be giving some background info. Those of you familiar with the concept of the show can quite happily skip the next few paragraphs. The Doctor is a Timelord, an alien with a time machine called a Tardis ...

The Doctor is the last of his species, the Timelords were wiped out in a Time war with a as of yet unmentioned enemy. The Doctor can change his body when his current one is worn out or injured severely. He will change appearance and personality, though his core values will remain the same. The Doctor is currently in his 9th incarnation and is played ...

The return of the doctor...

Advantages: A great DVD for all the family to watch!
Disadvantages: Its only the first three.....

When I first heard that Doctor Who was coming back, I groaned. For me, it seemed that it was out of place in the 21st century, best kept for stories of 'the old days'. Yet, now, after the end of the first series, I am , I admit, a Doctor who addict. So, as you can tell, the first series, to me at least, was pretty good! This DVD contains the first three episodes- Rose, The End of the World and The Unquiet dead. The Doctor is played by the brilliant ...

As he tells her, there is a plot to take over the world, by..... well, I won't spoil that for you! It's very funny, addictive and has lots of great special effects. In the end of the world, the Doctor takes Rose on her first long journey in the TARDIS (The Doctors time machine) They go to the year 5 billion, where the sun is expanding and going ...

I vaguely remember watching Doctor Who in the late 80s and I have seen some of the old episodes since watching the new series hit our screens, but they have nothing on this!
