Advantages: 1st in the series, a good bond Disadvantages: can be a little slow
James Bond, the suave, sophisticated, womanising and deadly British agent from MI6 with a licence to kill. I don't think that there is a soul that has not at least heard of this legendary character. Starting it's movie life way back in 1962 with Dr No, and currently on its 21st official movie (Not including Never say never again which is not classed as an official James Bond movie), Casino Royale which has just been released at the cinema, surely ... ...most successful book to film series ever.
Everyone has their favourite bond out of the six actors that have played him. After having seen Daniel Craig in the new Casino Royale I am thinking that he may be very close to the top of my list, if not THE top, although there were questions about him not being "Bond" like, however It's worth mentioning that Sean Connery was not "Bond" in the eyes of Ian Fleming, He wanted David Niven to play him, but hindsight ...

Advantages: Great iconic film, Connery is marvellous Disadvantages: A bit dated
Dr No is considered the first of the feature films featuring the British Secret Agent James Bond and based on the book by Ian Fleming. There have been other televised and radio releases featuring Bond, but Dr No is the first official film.
The Plot
James Bond is sent to Jamaica to investigate the disappearance of agent John Strangeway. On arrival, he teams up with CIA agent Felix Leiter and his number 2, Quarrel. Bond is suspicious of Professor ... ...his employer, the mysterious Dr No. Bond discovers the location of Dr No's hideout, and goes in search of answers.
The Cast and Performances
Sean Connery cements Bond as his own role in this first outing for him as the secret agent. His on screen charisma and suave aura make this film excellent. Ursula Andress is the first Bond girl, Honey Ryder, and oozes sex appeal. Bernard Lee is M, and Lois Maxwell Miss Moneypenny, and the two featured in many ...

Advantages: Clear picture and remastered soundtrack. Disadvantages: Considerable reuse of older extra's.
When I read that the Bond films were being re-released I though here we go again, another money spinner. Having bought all the "Special Editions" a couple of years ago, I was very dubious about spending loads of money to repurchase them.
However, when I read about the difference in quality between the special and ultimate edition my curiosity was peaked. I decided to purchase the first movie, Dr No and watch it to see if there was a marked difference ... ...quality is a massive improvement is a little bit of an understatement. The special edition was basically a transfer from the original film to DVD with some special features bolted onto the side. The Ultimate edition has basically gone back to the original film, transferred it to a computer and then each frame was edited, frame by frame, to remove all the picture speckles and dirt from the print.
The result of this is a pratically brand new print ...

Advantages: Exciting classic film Disadvantages: None!
A classic James Bond film about the world famous spies' adventures based on Ian Flemings novels. Starring Sean Connery, this was the first James Bond of many throughout the last few decades. I love the image of James Bond which is well-known throughout the world and will appeal to all those wannabe James Bonds or spies. I found the action in the film is relentless and provides exciting gun-battles and memorable baddies! The exotic location of the ... ...espionage lifestlye. Also, if you watch closely enough a subtle James Bond humour can be seen which adds to the excitement. With some great acting this is a must for film lovers as it is a part of film history. In conclusion, the film is well worth the money for all the family to watch. ...
