What stops this from being just another running-and-jumping cop thriller is the sheer brutality of some of the sequences. In one scene, Callahan tortures information out of Scorpio by stomping on a leg wound. I realise that this is meant to be a "Clint Eastwood" film, but whoever played the psycho who buried the girl deserves major recognition.
