Advantages: The bad-assery of it all, the script, the direction, the acting... Disadvantages: Could do with more explosions.
...the best Christmas films around. Die Hard is at times hilarious, over-the-top, cheesy and there are more explosions than at a Girl-Guides firework party (strange metaphor, that one). But it works! As a film, Die Hard is never anything less than entertaining, whether McClane is exchanging wisecracks with his wife, or hanging by his fingers from an air-vent, or throwing people off buildings. You find yourself gripped by it all, and it leaves you wanting ...

Advantages: Good acting, easy to buy on video and DVD Disadvantages: None
"Die Hard" was released as a very un-traditional Christmas film in 1988 but I didn't see it until 1997. It is rather a lot more than a typical action film.
On Christmas Eve John McClaine, a New York cop goes to LA to visit his estranged wife at her company's Christmas party, which is being held on the top floor of a huge skyscraper. The building is invaded by apparent terrorists and John has to save himself and everyone else. Of course, even this ...

...pinnacle of 80s action movies, Die Hard is one of the enduring classics of modern action cinema. Not a movie to provoke much thought or reaction, but one filled with high octane thrills and spills which is enough to keep anyone on the edge oftheir seat - I defy you not to enjoy it.
New York cop, John McClane(Bruce Willis) arrives in Los Angeles to spnd the Christmas period with his ex-wife(Bonnie Bedelia) and their two children. He meets her at ...

...lovers would be familiar with Die Hard. It's the movie that really out Bruce Willis in the big hollywood league and still remains a movie quite a lot of others try to imitate.
For those not familiar with the story let me explain. In a sky rise LA office building a team of terrorists have taken over and claimed hostages all with the goal of finanacial gain. Leading this gang of euro-baddies is one Hans Gruber (Alan Rickman). Many consider Rickman ...

Before today, I had only seen bits of this film, but now I have seen it all, and like other peoples ratings suggest, it is one of the best action thrillers ever.
The story is: John McClane (Bruce Willis), a policeman from New York, is visiting his wife in Los Angeles, and they are having a party at the Japanese owned Nakamoto tower, but thungs quickly go wrong.
A gang of 12 terrorists, with the boss, Hans Gruber (Alan Rickman), takes over the ...

...a great classic action movie. Die Hard just works as a movie. Die Hard signified a change in how action movies are made - no more Arnold Schwarznegger, no more Jean Claude Van Damme. None of that. This is just Bruce Willis at his finest. He's not turned in to Robocop or the Terminator. No. Just Police Officer John McClane.
And that's what makes this film great. The lack of having bloody Robocop or Judge Dredd coming around dealing with their brand ...

Advantages: outstanding film, flawless in every respect Disadvantages: where did the extras go?
For me, Die Hard is possibly the best film ever made, barring Terminator 2. To see the film finally on DVD is a joy. After years of seeing it in normal TV aspect and boring old mono sound, I have finally basked in the glory of the Dolby 5.1 and the films original dimensions of 2.35:1. Call me picky, but when it comes to watching films like Die Hard, you have to enjoy the full potential DVD has offer.
I have seen the film on numerous occasions on ...

...get around to watching the Die Hard films, somehow I'd missed them. What a fool I've been...
Made in the height of the 80's/90's action/adventure phase, Die Hard stands out from the crowd despite still having many of the usual action characterists. Could it be that we have a more well thought out story? Better defined characters? Who knows but what we end up with is the story of ordinary cop John McClane getting caught up in the biggest robbery ...

Advantages: fast and action packed Disadvantages: the sequels arent as good
Originally director John McTiernan was reluctant to show Bruce Willis face on the poster for ‘Die Hard’ in fear that it might scare away potential movie goers. The cast are largely unknown apart from Bruce Willis and Alan Rickman (who incidentally turn in some of the best performances in their careers). Alan Rickman is the evil bad guy Hans Gruber, a smug and confident super villain who invades a skyscraper and holds the workers hostage. ...

Advantages: Great Action, Great Acting, Great Plot Disadvantages: None
This is a great action movie. When you think of Bruce stuck in a skyscraper fighting for his life and for that of a lot of hostages you think great but what you get is even better than that. There is some incredible action and stunts in this movie and the acting isn't half bad either. This is typical of Bruces older movies involving large explosions and him throwing himslf off a skyscraper with a fire hose tied round his waist. This is one of the ...
