Advantages: A great mix of action and comedy. Disadvantages: Frequent strong language may offend some people.
I can remember the first time I watched this film, I was very impressed to say the least and still feel that way now. Although it was made in the late eighties and some say a little dated, it still makes modern day action movies look a little lightweight. The plot revolves around a group of terrorists (lead by Alan Rickman)who take over a multistory office in order to make a few pennies. One thing they didn't rely on was John Mclane (Bruce Willis), ... ...mixture with the potential to explode, all it needs is several kilos of explosives...wait, its got that to!
With superb acting from Rickman and fine one liners from Willis, this is the ideal movie for a quiet night in on a saturday night. If you are easily offended, be warned, this film contains frequent strong language and bloody shooting scenes. Apart from that, it is my opinion this is one of the best action films of all time. You should be able ...

...a few weeks ago with Die Hard 2 in a pack. I'd never seen it before and really wanted to from all the comments from my friends saying what an amazing movie it was. They weren't wrong!
The film starts off with officer John Maclaine visiting his wife for a christmas holiday. This was one christmas he was never going to forget. After him and his wife start talking she has to make a speech while John is stuck in a bathroom on his own.
A group of terrorists ... ...Die Hard is an action packed thriller with twists and turns to make you more and more hooked. The story line progresses quickly never making you bored. The action scence are great with about five minutes each of fast-shooting, neck-braking, hard-hitting fighting that makes you feel more and more into the story. The special effects are good for it's time and there are some bits that are very clever. The characters are very life-like which gets you ...

Advantages: A witty, engaging main character, nice (if orthadox) special effects Disadvantages: Pan-european accents of generic 'baddies'
The Die Hard quadrilogy is a rare beast - a series built entirely naturally upon the success of its first installment. John McClane is a New York City Police Dept. Detective, and is the original gravelly detective. In this first installment Willis depicts a character that is enjoyable to watch, with a great potential to get suitably badass on the stereotypical European baddies - a group of well equipped German terrorists with tragically pan-European ... ...ex-wife (Bedelia). Ostensibly this is to ensure the release of like-minded individuals from government institutions around the world, but the alterior motive is the theft of $640 million in bearer-bonds from the building's vault.
Whilst the plot is relativily simplistic - McClane escapes the initial attentions of the terrorists and sets about thwarting their plans, the screenplay is overall witty and well-realised, and the film is very enjoyable ...

...the eighties has to be Die Hard. It is a roller coaster ride of action and excitement form director John McTiernan. Die Hard is the first in a series of films featuring the adventures of detective, John McClane (Bruce Willis), who always manages to find his way into the middle of nightmare situations. Mcclane is a New York police detective on a trip to Los Angeles to try and resolve his differences with his wife Holly (Bonnie Bedelia). He turns up ... ...the Christmas party is taking place. However things take a turn for the worst when the building is taken over by terrorists, led by, Hans Gruber (Alan Rickman), who want to steal money in the vaults of the building. Everyone is taken hostage, apart from McClane who manages to escape capture and starts a one man war against the terrorists. He attempts to defeat the terrorists and save his wife and the rest of the hostages.

In my opinion Die Hard is the one aginst which other action movies are rated. It is also the film that made Bruce Willis and ensured his transformation to the silver screen. Willis is perfectly cast as John McClane a somewhat gung-ho New York City cop with a real attitude against the establishment. Faced with the prospect of spending Christmas alone, without his estranged wife and two children, McClane boards a plane bound for Los Angeles hoping ... ...by Chauffeur driven limousine at his wife's office building, the newly constructed Nakatomi Plaza. While his wife and her fellow co-workers are celebrating the most successful year in the history of the company at a party, our John relaxes and makes the most of the good life. This is quite fortuitous as now enter the villain of the peace Alan Rickman, in the guise of Hans Gruber and his merry men (oh that?s another movie!). Alan Rickman is cleverly ...

Quick review of Die Hard (DVD)
It seems a ridiculous thing for a lad of 26 to say but I have only watched this film for the first time today. Terrorists take over a tower block in L.A. and just by chance Bruce Willis happens to be stripped to the vest in the right place at the right time. Baddie Alan Rickman always does menacing wonderfully well and the pace is incessant. The relationship between John McClane and the hapless cop who picks up his distress call adds a nice human touch to the carnage. The Die Hard trilogy begins in explosive style, and although the plot and script leave a lot to be desired, one cannot help but enjoy what is just mindless action. (Note: this review is of the film only). ...

...going to be appearing in Die Hard i thought, brilliant. Bruce Willis is an amazing actor. The performance he gave was spectacular. He is one f the greatest actors in my opinion, when it comes to action films. The plot was very well thought out. I loved the film and the next 3 films that were produced after, were phenomenal. Also Alan Rickman playing a bad guy was a match made in heaven. His voice was perfect when he was giving Bruce an ultimatum.

Advantages: The best in its genre Disadvantages: Takes a while to get going
It really is difficult for any fan of action films to avoid "Die Hard", partly because of Bruce Willis' unexpected career change and partly because this is the "siege" film par excellence, the original which has spawned so many imitations (including its sequels). Both Willis and bad guy Alan Rickman give superb performances, and although the bullets bounce off Willis he does succeed in lending a certain amount of vulnerability to his character. As ...

Advantages: Great fun, good action, original Disadvantages:
The first in the trilogy, and almost certainly the best, if only because it helped redefine the genre and introduced the idea of using quality actors (the superb, intelligently menacing, authoritative Alan Rickman) in action movies. Has a couple of memorable lines and action sequences, and plenty of thrills and spills and dark humour along the way ("Do I sound like I'm ordering a pizza?!!"). Well worth watching, great fun. Notably superior to the ...

This is just such a great movie. Bruce Willis finds himself caught up in a seige on a building at Christmas time where his wife works and battles to save both himself and all the hostages from the bad guys.
There are some great scenes in this high action packed movie. Bruce Willis stars as Joh Mclane who becomes a one man team against a whole gang of German terrorists lead by the Hans Gruber played by the superb Alan Rickman.

Die Hard, where do I start. If you want to watch an action film this is the film to watch. Out of all of Bruce Willis’s films id have to say this is one of the best. The year of this film is 1988, although this is quite an old movie this is still one of the best films out today. The film is about two hours and ten minutes long.
The age certificate for this film is 18 years and over.
