== DIE HARD 2: DIE HARDER ==
=== FILM ONLY REVIEW ===
This is the second of four Die Hard films.
The main character John McClane, of course, played by Bruce Willis. John McClane is a tough, brave, strong and ready for anything sort of guy - as we saw in the first Die Hard!!
=== His story: ===
John McClane was once a New York City police officer. His wife Holly played by Bonnie Bedelia finds a job in California and decided leave to start a life ... ...the L.A.P.D. Like Die Hard; Die Hard 2 begins on Christmas Eve in an airport, though this is in Dulles airport in Washington D.C. as opposed to L.A. International Airport. === The Story: ===
McClane is waiting for his wife to fly in , but his Christmas does not start off so good, when his car is towed away for parking in a tow away zone. When a group of unauthorized individuals walk into a baggage area which is restricted and usually locked off. ...

Advantages: Big action, big-talking, big.... Bruce Willis Disadvantages: Hammy, cheesy, could still do with a few more explosions
Die Hard 2: Die Harder follows on a few years after the events of the first film, when John McClane managed to get out of the Nakatomi plaza alive, with his wife in tow. This time round, husband and wife are getting along better (surprising what a near-death experience can do for you), and John is feeling carefully optimistic about everything. This Christmas, his wife is coming to him, and he goes to the airport to meet her. And then.. well, another ... ...who can stop it!
Die Hard 2 takes the cheesiness to a whole new level, in part probably because Renny Harlin is directing, a man who is now well known for making big-cheese numbers such as Cliffhanger and Deep Blue Sea. And while the film is still highly enjoyable, there seems to be something missing from the whole enterprise. Bruce Willis returns as McClane, and continues to flesh out his character. He has to deal with a lot in this film, including ...

Advantages: Fast-paced, spectacular, fairly enjoyable if your in the mood Disadvantages: Dodgy acting, weak script, little credibility and zero tension
...to be as good as Die Hard, it didn't have to be. Thanks to the success of the original, Die Hard 2 had a ready made audience that was virtually guaranteed to turn up for a second installment. All Fox had to do was to get the picture made and released before the interest wore off and they would almost certainly have a huge hit on their hands. In the space of under 2 years, Fox had done just that. Walter Wagers novel "58 minutes" was hastily adapted ... ...up. But not for Die Hard 2. Although this was their next film to be released, they first collaborated on "The Adventures of Ford Fairlane" which was a bizarre exercise indeed and starred Andrew Dice Clay (who he?..ed) as a "Rock n Roll Detective". This too was a crap film and on it's eventual release it became clear why there had been a year long delay. Not surprisingly, it sank without trace.
Despite this though, Silver still had confidence in ...

Advantages: Great action piece Disadvantages: Rehack of the first film?
Die Hard 2? Remake of the original. Well that was easy, what's next? What's that - you want more? Grrrrr...well...alright.
Waiting to meet his wife at Washington's Dulles airport, Detective John McClane notices something pretty weird going on. Poking his nose into things that he shouldn't McClane discovers a plot to shut the airport down in the middle of the Christmas holiday rush. Led by disgraced soldier Colonel Stuart, a highly trained team of ... ...winning formula. Does that make Die Hard 2 a bad film? How does that incorrect noise from Family Fortunes go?
That the first film was such a fabulous hit and that the second sticks closely to the style put in place, means that we have certain expectations - and this film meets and exceeds them almost constantly. Bringing McClane and his 'problems' back underpins the whole film. Like we've been let in a delicious secret, we just know that as soon ...

Advantages: Bruce Willis, Bruce Willis, yep, Bruce Willis! Disadvantages: a few plot holes
...standards set by the first Die Hard film. Based on Walter Wager’s novel ’58 minutes’ (something I didn’t know, another book I shall be purchasing soon!) the script isn’t all that bad either, but did you know that it cost $60 million to make – wow! I could have knocked something together with me and Bruce in for a lot less (although it wouldn’t have sold that well ;+) hehehe). The music is Ok (ie. cue corny ... ...so nothing radical happens in Die Hard 2, but it doesn’t stray from the traditions of the action packed genre. And of course once more, McClane seems the only possible man for the job. This movie in analysis, is a worthwhile action film, but it’s not as ‘new’ as the first Die Hard, nevertheless, whoever enjoyed the first will undoubtedly enjoy the second, and whoever enjoys Bruce Willis, will definitely get a kick out of Die ...

=== FILM ONLY REVIEW ===
This is the second in the Die Hard quadrilogy, following on the story of John McLean, a police officer from LA. He has become a bit of a superstar after his work in the first film where he put his own life on the line to sort out a so called "hostage" situation in an office block, and ended up out witting the robbers. This film is - like the first - set at Christmas, John McLean is meeting his wife Holly ... ...If you watched the first Die Hard and loved it, then you'll love this one even more, its an amazing film!! again its got the undertones of humour! And I swear if Bruce Willis had taken off his spacesuit in Armagedden and tackled the meteorite in his vest, all would have ben OK !! ...

Advantages: Entertaining, lots of good action Disadvantages: not as "funny" as the first film
...its compared too much to Die Hard. Die Hard is not any normal film, its probably the best action film ever.
So Die Hard 2: Die Harder had alot to live up to, and the plot is fairly similar, its just an airport in Washington instead of a big building in Los Angeles. Both are set on Christmas Eve, and John McClane (Bruce Willis), wonders aloud exactly the same thing could happen to him twice. Just like a normal Christmas he says, "crawling around ... ...clever ending, where as in Die Hard the terrorists are killed one by one, here they are all taken out at once. It is one of a few differences in a similar film.
Die Hard 2 doesn't have the same battle of wits as there is in the first film between McClane and Hans Gruber, but its still entertaining, and the action is as good as you would expect, as is Willis.
It is put on the shade by Die Hard, but its still got pace and suspense, and is a decent ...

Advantages: Bruce Willis Disadvantages: Same story, different location
I love the Die Hard series and if you were to ask me to rate the three, the first would be on the top of my list, followed by the third and Die Hard 2 would be the last. For me Die Hard 2 is the weakest of the three, but that don't mean that it's a bad film at all. It just means that the other two are a lot stronger than this one. I fell that the missing presence of Die Hard and Die Hard: With a Vengeance director John McTiernan is what makes Die ... ...seems to be true. In Die Hard 2, it's Christmas again and McClane is at the Dulles International Airport waiting to pick up his wife who is coming home from a business trip. Also at the airport are some terrorists who are there waiting to pick up their boss, who is a deposed leader, General Esperanza. Die Hard 2 sets up the story quickly so that it can move into its amazing action sequences.
Along the way we meet our typical stereotypical characters ...

This is Bruces second outing as John McClane the New York cop that is always in the wrong place at the wrong time. This time he is fighting a highly organised group of terrorists in Washington Dc's Dulles International Airport. This leaves the door open for plenty of huge explosions and insane stunts but it is great. There are some particularly good shootouts and there is even agood twist in the plot that comes as a surprise. The acting is once again ...

...to be as good as Die Hard. That was the original, a breakthrough. Die Hard with a Vengence was the last in the trilogy, and was unique because of this. Die Hard 2 seemed to fill in a gap between the two films, with not really that much to say for itself, too much of the same really. So why did I like it so much?
The basic storyline: it’s a snowy Christmas Eve in Washington DC, terrorists have seized the international airport and thousands ... ...doesn't have as much as Die Hard. The darkness actually helps the film in a lot of ways, whereas I personally thought it hindered some of the happenings in Die Hard. Advantages: Same as for the first film Disadvantages: Treads familiar ground
"Die Hard 2" is the usual Hollywood idea that if something made money the first time, it will do it again, so all the elements that made the original a success are in place, even down to Willis' wife tangling with the same reporter. Unfortunately the producers have changed exactly one element, its setting. In this film the boys use an airport for their adventure playground instead of a high rise office building, and the resulting loss of claustrophobia ... ...fare, and the scriptwriter only made one real mistake, the sheer number of times Willis says "oh no, not again." The fact that exactly the same thing should happen to him exactly one year later is the least convincing part of the film, and it would have been best if they hadn't drawn so much attention to it. ...

More of the same kind of action, this time McLane is in Dulles International Airport fighting to stop hi-tech terrorists as his wife’s plane circles overhead burning what little fuel they have left.
