Due to differences in family stature, Dev's dad doesn't allow him to marry Paro who is finally married to a rich businessman. A heartbroken devdas seeks comfort in alchohol and lands up in a brothel(though it is shown with utmost dignity here) where he goes regularly ...
...of the characters that make Devdas what it is. But the sheer fact that the characters have been seen before on screen does reduce its impact on the audience. All the three characters are played finely by the actors, Madhuri dixit taking the spotlight with a memorable act. It was a lovely film, I watched it with my whole family. My mohter said that it was traditionally a bengali story, thats why is has references to funny bengali phrases. It was a colourful film, and has a lot about history included. I liked all the different dances, and Ashwaria Rai looked amazing. It's a sad love story! Ashwaria marries a man who has dozens of kids, likes to gamble, drinks excessive amounts of alcohol and does not stick to one ...
