~ DEFIANCE ~ Since the adverts for this film came out on T.V I wanted to see it. It had catchy music, fast action and it looked like my type of film. So Monday having a day off work I spent a lovely day with my boyfriend and took a trip down to the Cinema in Bath to see it. The cast: I have to admit that when I saw the trailers for this back in December I was quite keen to see it just because Daniel Craig was in it! Defiance, released in 2009, tells the story of the three Bielski brothers fighting for freedom for the Jewish, in German occupied Poland. After the brutal murder of the Jewish population in their town, the three brothers escape to the forest where they are joined by many other Jewish people who have also fled the persecution. The eldest of the brothers, Tuvye (Daniel Craig), makes the decision to try to save and hide as many Jewish people as possible ...

With the German SS and finally the German Army seeking them out, their lives are never safe, but as Tuvye argues at least they are free. I can't even begin to tell you how good this film was, absolutely fantastic ! This is one of those films that really touches you and makes you realise what people used to go through during the war and the way the Jews were treat was disgusting I personally didn't know the half of what they went through. There are a lot of familiar faces in the film least of all the gorgeous Daniel Craig and even Spider from Coronation Street pops up in this film. ...

I rated it 4/5 stars but if I could I'd give it a 3.6 because it wan't that good but it was better than satisfactory. It would get a 4 for the action scenes and the relatively well-conveyed sense of emotion. However, it would get a 3 for the lack of thrilling scenes and its lack of originality - a Polish Second World War refugee trying to escape the grasp of the ever oppressive Nazi scum, yeah so what, give me something new.
