Deep Rising is full of action almost from the moment the film starts. Deep rising is nothing more than a bit of fun - a sci-fi, horror cross over which has no pretensions of greatness but rather has a singular purpose to make its audience has a good time watching it. Set your brin in first gear, sit back and you will do just that - its great fun. A group of mercenaries are heading out to a luxury ocean liner on Finegann's(Treat Williams) boat. He has no clue that they actually intend to hijack the huge pleasure ship ...

Comes a film with little to praise. This little known film is very bad. When a group of armed mercaneries intend to rob a cruise ship, they arrive on board a deserted ghost ship to find that things have gone horribly wrong. An ugly sea monster has taken over the ship, and the unlikly bunch of survivers and pirates must race to get themselves off the boat. Fast paced action big guns, poor acting, an un-original plot and lines like 'I've got a bad ...
...The hired 'witty' sea dog and his 'grease monkey' work together with the pirates, after overcoming the 'trust no-one idea'. The plot is obvious, people picked off one by one and eaten alive, only the good guys survive. Once on the ship, they find only 3 survivors. The captain, a jewel thief and another crew member. Starring the very delicious Famke Janssen (Xenia of Goldeneye fame) and Treat Williams (lots of films but never the lead), this is a fun-filled rollercoaster of a ride. There are also a number of even less famous people you have seen before although I do know Wes Studi (Last of the Mohicans - the one with the hatchet and the bad haircut) and the annoying one from The Mummy (quaintly enough, he is annoying in this one too). I'd never heard of this movie until I came across the DVD on the shelf at Woolworths, which as I could get it for a tenner, I decided to give it a try. The film is a sort of sci-fi/horror movie which while suffering from a pretty poor plot, does what it's supposed to. Entertain. The action sequences coupled with some good special effects, allow the film to rise above the storyline, and most of the cast play it firmly in cheek. So what's it about? ...
...across a rain-swept ocean to an as yet unknown destination. Cut to a scene showing a huge ocean liner, which is a floating casino full of rich people and you know where the torpedo boat and it's cargo are bound. Deep Rising is an action/horror film directed by Stephen Sommers, who would later go on to direct "The Mummy" and "Van Helsing". It stars B-movie legend Treat Williams and Famke Janssen and Djimon Hounsou, who are both a lot more well known now. Finnegan (Williams) is the leader of a group of mercenaries who takes on some very dangerous clients. ...dead and that someone, or something, has trashed the ship. Well, it certainly doesn't seem as though they did. The plot reminds me of some kids cartoon action movie. It really does, mostly due to the totally stupid and unbelievable escapes from the 'monster', and the "Oh look, a big monster's trying to kill us all, run away!" sort of plot. Well, lets start with the plot shall we.......I can't seem to think of anything to write about it apart from poor, stupid, unrealistic and very childish. Doesn't rate ...

So, this leaves the survivors to try and stay alive. The story basically is about a luxury crusier who sets of on its maiden voyage in the China Sea. The owner, who is on board the ship, got his figures wrong when he built the ship so decides to hire some people to come and rob the ship, and then sink it so he can claim in the insurance. ...watch it, some interesting facts in the movie). When the hijackers get there they find nothing but blood, and nothing else. Everyone is missing, except for a handful of people who are hiding on certain parts of the ship. Once in there, the monster attacks again, and its all about getting out of the ship alive.
