...back with a review of Deep Blue Sea.
Well I suppose it was inevitable doing a review on a film that has sharks in it. Although I have to say that this isn't your average.....
"Oh look there's a shark.....it's gonna eat me!!!!!!"
....sort of movie!! Deep Blue Sea does actually have a story behind it although it could have been improved upon!
Quotes, quotes, quotes, that's my style and I wouldn't want to disappoint anyone so here's a comment ...

...be a decent film. Well Deep Blue Sea is one of those films. Probably part of the reason I ended up watching it was the fact Samuel L Jackson takes a staring role, and being a fan of most of his films, cause he has done some that are awful, I sat down to watch this.
So what’s it all about, well a team of scientists lead by Dr. Susan McCallister (Saffron Burrows) are conduction studies on Sharks on an observation platform in the middle of the ...

...clip of the preview of Deep Blue Sea as seen in cinemas, and information on how they made the sharks so life like (yes they are mechanical!). There is also some good other stuff, several links to good websites for sharks and the film and its makers, a stills gallery which has some great shots and audio commentaries from star Samuel L Jackson and director Renny Harlin.
Overall this is a great film, it is not scary but there is plenty of action, ...

Deeps Hitting Review ofDeep Blue Sea (Wide Screen)by

Advantages: Great effect, fun film Disadvantages: None too many
...is the evoking feeling that Deep Blue Sea presents you with. I am older and wiser now, and I can laugh at the scenes of razor sharp teeth biting into flesh. But that feeling, that horrific feeling of being hunted, for food, by really big creatures – now, that is there. Memories are stirred… and for the fact it made me just a little bit scared and uneasy Deep Blue Sea is damn good.
So to the plot…
Made in 1999 and directed by ...

Advantages: Enjoyable nonsense, ably constructed and pretty effective at times Disadvantages: Gaping plot holes, "only-in-the-movies" stupidity from the stereotypical characters, some poor continuity with the sharks' size, not exactly logical
...in box-office terms.
So to Deep Blue Sea, another - altogether different - aquatic adventure. Structurally, it's similar to the Alien template - while the story is a novel take on the usual "man-messes-with-nature-and-it-all-goes-wrong" concept.
Deep Blue Sea is not Jaws, despite the opening scene. Subsequent exposition reveals a plot which, bizarre though it surely is, at least adds an extra layer to the standard "killer sharks after human ...

...you think about (apart from deep blue sea by the way…) I bet some form of creature popped up in your thoughts didn’t it? And I bet it had teeth didn’t it? Well, if you were one of the many who thought up creatures with teeth you’re already much the way to knowing the general gist of this movie. If I mentioned Sharks I’m sure you’d all say “so its like Jaws then?” wouldn’t you? It’s a natural ...

There's something in the water!
I have recently watched "Deep Blue Sea" on Sky Movies, and highly recommend this to anyone who is interested in suspense/action movies.
Based along the lines of the long standing "Jaws" theme (i.e. great big psycotic sharks!), "Deep Blue Sea" tells the story of an aquatic laboratory studying the behaviour and pattern of sharks. The twist lies in the fact that the sharks are not just being studied, but also being ...

Deep Blue Sea was a film that I had heard some bad reviews and some good. I had never watched it and I can’t remember whether it came out at the cinema or not. All I knew was that it was about sharks and I had heard it was a bit like Jaws and being quite a big fan of jaws I was quite interested but never quite got round to renting it.
While on a shopping trip with my girlfriend she said she wanted to buy me something. Once I had been dragged ...

...of action and not much deep thought required. It manages to avoid descending into the cheese of say Armageddon. It also avoids stealing too many scenes from Jaws apart from the sharks deaths and the big middle speech. A recommended disc is turned into a highly recommended disc by the good extra's. It also makes you wonder how good Jaws could have been if made with today's special effects!!! ...

...you have any sense, directs Deep Blue Sea.
The film Deep Blue Sea is based around the story that a group of scientists have breed some Mako sharks in order to extract some of their brain material, as a cure for Alzheimer’s. No doubt a worthy cause by the research base is an old World War2 submarine base in the middle of the Ocean.
As a result of man dabbling with Gods creation the sharks grow up to 45feet in length, and their brain mass ...

Advantages: Entertaining, amusing scenes amid the terror, good action Disadvantages: Over the top in places, lacks what makes a really good film, lack of character development
Who has never, at the very least, heard of "Jaws"? Well, 'Deep Blue Sea' is the modern equivalent I suppose you could say.
The story is about a team of reseachers who are based in the middle of the ocean on a floating laboratory called Aquatica. The team are genetically re-engineering the DNA of sharks in the search of a cure for Alzheimers. But as they proceed in their search they also increase the intelligence of the sharks. As you can imagine, ...

What A Farce Review ofDeep Blue Sea (Wide Screen)by
aljones
Advantages: More realistic sharks than in Jaws Disadvantages: Bad acting, and completely unrealistic
...and indeed they were right. Deep Blue Sea returns to the man easting shark theme, and while the animatronics on the sharks themselves have improved, the story line and plot have become so much of a farce that no matter how realistic the sharks look, the film will never appear real.
The plot of the film revolves around a research facility out in the Pacific ocean. The facility itself is (in the film, anyway) a decommissioned US Navy submarine refuelling ...

From this point on it is humans versus, the sharks and the water! Two of things you would probably least likely be up against! Along with many brave rescue ...

Big high jump Review ofDeep Blue Sea (Wide Screen)by
MichelleScott
Advantages: Realistic, action-packed, suspenseful, good music, great acting Disadvantages: Could make you a bit jumpy next time you're stranded on an oceanic research station
To compare Deep Blue Sea to Jaws doesn’t do it justice. Jaws was a phenomenon largely because it was so innovative at the time. When you hear that Deep Blue Sea is about sharks, and that it is subtitled “Jaws with attitude”, you can easily think that this is just another shark-attack film. It isn’t. This film is different. I never jump during films. When I watched this I must have looked like I was on a trampoline.
Jaws got a lot of stick for ...

Advantages: good action, shocks, effects, extras Disadvantages: poor script, no alternate ending
The film brings sharks back to the big screen with better special effects. The film is bascically set in a research base out at sea where a group of scientists are experimenting on Mako sharks to cure cancer. Naturally some accidents occur that make the base begin to sink and flood allowing the sharks to get in nad make themselves the dominant species in the base. Carnage ensues as the humans try to escape before they are fish food. Naturally not ...
