Dante's peak. Nice little town. Nice little people. Amazing volcano. We watched this in Geography as part of our study of volcanoes. Can't say that about many films, but my teacher was incredibly quick to point out: 'You would never find a volcano like that in real life.' Hmmph. Volcanoes have many features - ash rain, lava, pyroclastic flows, acid lakes, bombs, hot springs - but never all at once. Evidently volcanoes that spew runny lava like on ...

Dantes Peak is about a small town in America that lives in the shadows of a volcano. Pierce Brosnan is a geologist sent to the town to investigate whether the volcano is about to blow. As far as most disaster or action movies go I can honestly say that this is a complete and utter waste of time to watch! Many films have been made on volcanoes with a similar storyline, and the plot in this is hardly original. To give credit to the actors, they do play the parts of their characters well, but this hardly makes up for the overall poor standard of the film. Even the effects are not worth watching, as they are pretty mediocre for this ...

There once was a credible little film called Twister. It had some excellent effects, an awful story, and an awful cast, but it was great entertainment. Skip forward a couple of years and Hollywood has jumped in the band wagon - How else can Mother Nature cause problems for us poor people? That's it! A volcano... Ok, the idea is stretching reality a bit but for the sake of a good story I can take that. What I can't take are some of the most 2 dimensional ...

The creators have obviously poked their noses inside a library and noted down what happens when a volcano erupts, and they've tried to incorporate a lot of fact into the script - it's just a shame that it was so badly realised and wrapped up. Brosnan makes a great James Bond and Hamilton was good in The Terminator but outside of these roles they're struggling and this is the same case ...

Pierce is the volcano guy who's at this quaint little village situated nicely at the bottom of a volcano to check it out, and Linda is the mayor of this place. Very clever to put a village in the direct reach of a volcano's flow. Harry Dalton (Pierce) after getting minor clues believes that Dante's Peak is going to erupt and wants the village to be put on alert. However ...
...The granny gets into the lake and pulls them ashore, obviously having her legs dissolved. She eventually dies. They get stuck in all awkward situations right the way through the film but is definitely a good action film for the book case. It's not bleak at Dante's Peak. ...

I first watched this movie with my mam and dad and loved it totally. Its basically about these people who are in this village when a volcano strikes and theres nothing that any body can do about this. The whole of the village is going to be toast so they have to all get out of here. But its not as easy as it first may seem! They have to go and get their grandmother and there is other stops on the way to this brilliant adventure that they will never ...
...together to get safely away from this disasterous volcano before their is nothing left of them. So they work through this and mostly all of them get away. As the grandmother takes her life just to safe her childrens life's. Aw i was nearly crying when she did this it proved just how much she loved her children. Even though there are some canny sick parts in this movie (and i mean sick!) its really adventurous and thrilling to see what is going ...
