Advantages: A great film with a really good storyline Disadvantages: none whatso ever
...capability to move me like Dances With Wolves did, and that is probably why I think this is amazing.
This epic film stars Kevin Costner who plays the part of Lieutenant John J Dunbar. It's about the story of a young American soldier who mans his post in the strange new lamd, the American frontier. He is rewarded for herosim in the Civil War battlefield by being able to choose what post he wants to man in the army (not much of a reward I thought). ... ...little list of the awards Dances with wolves won:

Advantages: interesting story Disadvantages: the love story part
WHAT IS IT ABOUT: Kevin Costner stars as Lt John Dunbar, a hero of the American Civil War who travels to his new post on the Western frontier. At first an emotionless, up tight soldier, things soon change as he begins to interact with a tribe of Sioux Indians, causing him to re-evaluate his loyalties.
WAS IT ANY GOOD:
I just re-watched this last night, and have to say I still enjoyed it just as much as I did when it came out in 1990. Costner plays ... ...all play into his strengths and he does a good job. Ironically, Dunbar in the first hour is a very unlikable guy - a nerd, a workaholic, a goody goody who can't relax or have fun, and although this is used to show the extent of his later changes, it's funny to quite dislike the hero of a film for the first half.
The movie was trying to be profound and I don't think it quite reached that - Costner's soundbite narration over the top is often naïve ...

Advantages: A refreshing portrayal of the American west Disadvantages: a long film
...to be given Kevin Costners Dances With Wolves. The story is straight forward, Costner plays John Dunbar, a lieutenant in the Cival War who is rewarded for an act of heroism with the posting of his choice. Jaded of the decadance of the officer elite of the army and desperate to see the fast disappearing frontier he takes a position in an isolated frontier fort. When he gets there it is desserted, but true to his orders he repairs the place and waits ... ...glorify the white hero. In Dances with Wolves, they are as filled out and have as much depth as any of the other parts, their ways, lives, loves and fears are played with reality and humour, with honest and insight and for the first time we see the other side of the coin. The interactions between Dunbar and the Sioux are well thought out, these are meant to be two races that have no experience of each other, and as such are cautious and curious of ...
