...don’t get me wrong. But Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon is much more than that.
It stars Chow Yun-Fat as Li, a rather disillusioned warrior, honour bound to avenge the murder of his Master and stave off the affections of his friend, Yu (Michelle Yeoh), a skilled fighter in her own right.
When a thief enters their lives, one equipped with the ability of defying gravity (cue amazing special effects!) Li offers to hone Yu’s impetuousness. ...

Advantages: Original, beautiful... Disadvantages: Dubbed, but you wont notice once you get into it...
How do you start with a film like this. It's either superflously cheesey, or superbly sublime. It's a cross between The Matrix, Enter the Dragon and any Jackie Chan Movie... no i do it discredit. I shall stop and start again...
It was really good. I liked it. Now i've secured a 'fairly good' rating i'll take it to pieces...
First mistake: Went into the video shop and picked up the video pictured above. Handed over my hard earned cash, and wandered ...

Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon (Wo hu zang long) is a film of great artistic and cultural significance, as for most people in the west it will be the first non westernised chinese movie to hit the cinemas, at least in my film watching lifetime. Die-hard Martial Arts nuts have had to get this on video, importing them themselves, no less.
It will be very interesting to see what is made of this film by the movie going public.

Advantages: Great fight scenes Disadvantages: subtitles
Ok so not many crouching tigers and the dragon sure was well hidden but what an epic! The film is directed by Ang Lee and co-written by James Schamus and is a truly epic film of great proportions.
Crouching Tiger Hidden Dragon is so good and on so many levels as it serves as:
1) An historical epic
2) An martial-arts flick
3) A tale with fantastic fight scenes(choreographed by Yuen Wo Ping of Matrix fame)
4) A story of magic
5) A story of ...

Advantages: Fantastic fight scenes; intoxicating blend of adventure and romance Disadvantages: Subtitles; too much flying at times
As a self-professed Asian film addict (or enthusiast as I prefer to be called), I've seen more than my share of Chinese cinema. Ang Lee's latest and critically acclaimed "Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon" is a splendid film.
Chow Yun Fat and Michelle Yeoh star as two ageing warriors who can't seem to retire. Their stiff, traditional romance is juxtaposed against Zhang Zi-Yi's (playing an aristocrat's daughter, awaiting marriage) and a desert pirate's ...

Advantages: Superb, appeals to all - A masterpiece Disadvantages: None
Before I begin the necessary praise of this film, which I warn you will be unforgivably full of such words as classic, excellent, genius, and superb, I want to put give my major concerns about this film.
These concerns do not relate to the actors or acting, the storyline, even the direction. They are concerned with the one hundred percent guarantee that this film will not be seen by anywhere near the proportion of the population who would thoroughly ...

...in for before seeing a crouching tiger and a hidden dragon.
The film was recommendended to me by my Religious Studies teacher. For A-level, we have to study Buddhism and my teacher himself is Buddhist. All he said was:
'The martial arts were fantastical, yet the message was supreme'.
I sat down with popcorn in hand and was welcomed to China. The desert and the cities.
The film displayed how focused and emotional fighting can be. In contrast ...

This counts in my all-time top 5 films. It is simply divine.
Directed by Ang Lee, of such previous outings as Sense and Sensibility and The Ice Storm, CTHD (Crouching Tiger Hidden Dragon, Chinese title of Wo hu zang long) is a magnificent martial arts film with a good dose of sentimentality and characterisation thrown in for good measure. The film is in the Hong Kong style of Martial arts (but utilises a gentler form of Kung Fu than the films of ...

Advantages: Is Lee Ang's production. Disadvantages: None.
I think most of us should know the director, Lee Ang who made the film "Sense and Sensibility". He has made a latest movie, called "Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon", which is a foreign language movie. The language used in the movie is Mandarin. There are few well-known Chinese actors and actresses such as Chow Yuen Fatt (Anna and The King etc.) and Michelle Yeoh (Tomorrow Never Dies etc.). What I felt impressed about this movie is it is the Columbia ...

Advantages: Fantastic, wonderful, nothing you'd expect Disadvantages: It finishes
Crouching Tiger Hidden Dragon is NOT a kung fu movie!
It is an epic comprised of three delicious Chinese myths. It has two deeply involving romance storylines. It addresses the peak of human spirit attainable through lifelong devotion, honour and discipline. It looks at the highest and darkest potential in all of us. It offers the viewer dreamlike fantasy, humour and bittersweet tragedy.
At the same time, this is one of the most peacefully beautiful ...

Advantages: Great scenery. (Hey, what else must I say?) Disadvantages: Toe-pointing, flying and no tigers to be found.
I wouldn’t say that I have not at one time been inspired by martial arts films…I have a particular liking for Mr. Lee (He of the Bruce) and so when this film appeared on the scene, I viewed it with mild interest, although never getting around to seeing it until my sister (in a moment of madness, I don’t know…) decided to BUY it on DVD, and insisted that I watch it.
The first thing that flashed across my mind like a blinding ...

Advantages: NONE - Very poor Disadvantages: Bad effects, Poor storyline
I was very interested in the movie because firstly it had something to do with Martial arts.I am a fan of martial arts and right from school I always enjoyed, Jackie Chan, Bruce Lee, Ninja movies, etc.
Moreover I had seen the rushes of this movie and was interested to watch it in the big screen. Well I must say that I felt like hitting myself as I had to undergo more than two hours of Chinese torture !!!
This proves that just because a movie ...

Anyway, i'm not kidding. About the title of my opinion, that is. There really is a lot of flying that is done in this movie, though how the director expects the audience to swallow that is beyond me. Even the ancient, most powerful kung fu or marshall arts experts could only hang around in the air for a few seconds or so...I think, but do correct me if i'm wrong. But I digress.
