...take your eyes off it. Con Air is one hell of a bad movie...it is also going to get a five star rating from me. If you were making a list of directors who like to make action movies which go way overboard in terms of...well just about everything really, then Jerry Bruckheimer would surely be quite high up on that list. Conair is a film which is based in an aoeroplane but no ordinary plane and starring Nicholas Cage. The film starts with a guy played by Nicholas Cage called John Cameron at a pub with his wife. With an extremely exciting line-up of actors - Nic Cage, Steve Buscemi, John Malkovich and John Cusack (all incredible) - and an excellent script, this film is brilliant. Nic Cage plays Cameron Po, a pretty innocent man who gets attacked when he stands up to a guy poking fun at him and his girlfriend and accidentally kills him in self defence. Con Air is a very cool film staring the excellent Nicholas Cage and John Cusack. The plot is based around a prison transport aircraft which is hijacked by the prisioners themselfs, with Cage is caught in the middle of it, just wanting to go home to see his wife (who he was sent to prison defending in a brawl) and daughter. Con-Air’ is an action packed film, with a touch of emotion at the end. It’s perfect film for the action thriller fan. Basically, its about a group of high-risk prisoners who are being transported by aeroplane and they manage to hi-jack the aeroplanes. Con Air is basically Rambo & Die Hard having lots of fun up in the skies! Nicolas Cage takes on the parts of both Sly Stallone & Bruce Willis (along with trademark White Vest) with equal numbness but ends up acting like Homer Simpson and gives us the impression he'd rather be somewhere else. I watched Con Air again recently and had almost forgotten how good it is. The film is not only blessed with one of the finest casts of any action film in recent memory but is also features some stunning action sequences all of which are gloriously over-the-top. This is quite simply one of the best Saturday night films around. The cast has Nic Cage as the ex-ranger convict hero who is flying home with in a plane load of the worst criminals in America ... Con Air offers a very useful cast including the multitalented John Malkovitch, and is a different slant on all the airplane disaster movies that are knocking around and have been for a few decades. The movie starts by setting up some audience sympathy with Nicholas Cage, a soldier who uses his knowledge of deadly martial arts in the wrong scenario (a bar brawl which he had no part in starting) to such effect that one of the perpetrators dies.
