Advantages: Big names, big budget ? Disadvantages: How many do you want?
Take a look, if you will, at Ciao's Top Five Favourite action films.
Number one is, of course, Die Hard.
Bravo people, so it bloody well should be. Anyone who tries telling me otherwise shall be instantly and unceremoniously evicted from the Howie C.O.T. (As if that's gonna bother you!)
Number two is 'Leon'. Good choice, fellow Ciao-ers - I salute you.
Some might question it's status as an all-out action-adventure but it's definately a great ...

Advantages: An excellent action film that combines a great story good direction and fantastic acting performance Disadvantages: Its certainly not a film for kids
...to be a decent film. Con Air certainly has all the ingredients of a decent film and once you add Jerry Bruckheimer as a producer its becoming glaringly obvious that this is going to be a very enjoyable film.
The combination of some of the worst criminals in the American prison system all being put onto one flight to be transferred to a new prison, sounds like a recipe for disaster. For US Marshall Vince Larkin (John Cusack) it's the days work ahead ...

...take your eyes off it. Con Air is one hell of a bad movie...it is also going to get a five star rating from me.
If you were making a list of directors who like to make action movies which go way overboard in terms of...well just about everything really, then Jerry Bruckheimer would surely be quite high up on that list. Bruckheimer is just about as excessive as they come, and each movie he makes tries very hard to outdo his previous one in terms ...

Welcome, and thank you for flying with Con-Air!
When the psychotic John Malkovich utters the above line, you know its time to buckle up your seat.
"Con Air" is a rollercoaster of a movie, with special effects galore and action throughout. It begins with our hero Cameron Poe (played with usual vigour by Nicholas Cage). Returning home from a stint in the old Special Services, he enjoys a quiet drink with his wife and gets into a spot of bother ...

Advantages: action packed, good effects, star studded cast Disadvantages: none
Con Air is one of those timeless action flicks that remains enjoyable no matter how many times you've watched it. Showing on station WGN this evening, I couldn't resist watching it for the seventh or eighth time since its release ten years ago.
Starring Nicholas Cage in the lead role as Cameron Poe, Con Air tells the story of an ex-soldier (Cage), released from prison following an eight year sentence for involuntary manslaughter. When he began ...

Advantages: Great Stunts and Acting. Disadvantages: Poor story line.
A group of ten of America’s most dangerous prisoners are being transferred on a special aircraft flight. Also on this flight is the prisoner Cameron Poe (played by Nicholas Cage.) Poe has spent eight years in prison after killing a man when defending his wife, but today is his first day of freedom and he has hitched a ride on this flight to get back to his wife and daughter as quickly as possible.
The prisoners take over the plane and Poe ...

Awesome actors Review ofCon Air (Wide Screen)by
mattmorrison
Advantages: Disadvantages:
...not many come better than Con Air. With an extremely exciting line-up of actors - Nic Cage, Steve Buscemi, John Malkovich and John Cusack (all incredible) - and an excellent script, this film is brilliant. Nic Cage plays Cameron Po, a pretty innocent man who gets attacked when he stands up to a guy poking fun at him and his girlfriend and accidentally kills him in self defence. He's the model inmate, and despite lots of teasing, remains well behaved ...

Advantages: action, leads Disadvantages: none really for an action movie
Con Air is a very cool film staring the excellent Nicholas Cage and John Cusack. The plot is based around a prison transport aircraft which is hijacked by the prisioners themselfs, with Cage is caught in the middle of it, just wanting to go home to see his wife (who he was sent to prison defending in a brawl) and daughter. The operation is masterminded by Cirus "the virus" (John Malkovich). Malkovich is outstanding as the crazed mastermind, and is ...

Con-Air’ is an action packed film, with a touch of emotion at the end. It’s perfect film for the action thriller fan.
Basically, its about a group of high-risk prisoners who are being transported by aeroplane and they manage to hi-jack the aeroplanes. The prisoners are psychos, one eats people, another is a paedophile. Some are locked up in cages and others strapped with chains.
It has a top cast not only the good guy Nicholas Cage ...

Advantages: Good action film, wonderful sound fx, Malkovich is always a treat to watch Disadvantages: excessive violence, bad language, violence & even more violence
Con Air is basically Rambo & Die Hard having lots of fun up in the skies!
Nicolas Cage takes on the parts of both Sly Stallone & Bruce Willis (along with trademark White Vest) with equal numbness but ends up acting like Homer Simpson and gives us the impression he'd rather be somewhere else. ("Doh, put..duh..Put..the..bunny..duh..back!")
Con Air is your typical crash, bang, wallop Jerry Bruckheimer kind of movie. Loud & blatant pyrotechniques, ...

Advantages: Great acting, wonderful plot Disadvantages: None
We’ve heard it all before. Military soldier comes back from battle to his loving wife, gets attacked in a barroom brawl, kills a man in defence, and gets his life wrecked by being sent to prison. Where the plot takes a turn for the better is the part of the film when our man, Cameron Poe (Nicholas Cage), gets parole. However, he gets a lift home on a new aircraft for transporting the world’s worst to a new high security prison. The inevitable happens ...

Classic Cage Review ofCon Air (Wide Screen)by
Mercury
Advantages: Stunning over-the-top action Disadvantages: Well it's not exactly thought-provoking
I watched Con Air again recently and had almost forgotten how good it is. The film is not only blessed with one of the finest casts of any action film in recent memory but is also features some stunning action sequences all of which are gloriously over-the-top. This is quite simply one of the best Saturday night films around.
The cast has Nic Cage as the ex-ranger convict hero who is flying home with in a plane load of the worst criminals in America ...

Advantages: Great cast list and some really good individual performances Disadvantages: Can be a little sickening in places given some of the characters' profiles
Con Air offers a very useful cast including the multitalented John Malkovitch, and is a different slant on all the airplane disaster movies that are knocking around and have been for a few decades. The movie starts by setting up some audience sympathy with Nicholas Cage, a soldier who uses his knowledge of deadly martial arts in the wrong scenario (a bar brawl which he had no part in starting) to such effect that one of the perpetrators dies. He is ...
