...films, having said that, A Clockwork Orange is a film you'd least expect to be part of that group. I'll come back to this later...
A Clockwork Orange adapted by the novel of the same title is about the things in society that are wrong, so wrong that they are tried to change by using contoversial and politically incorrect solutions.
The film follows the story of Alex De Large (a groudbreaking performance from Malcolm McDowell) a teenage young man ... ...imperfections.
BOTTOM LINE
A Clockwork Orange is the best of the best in Brit cult films, standing proudly aside or even surpassing the likes of other Brit classics like "The Itallian Job" and "Get Carter". A deffinate must see film that you will definately remember for one reason or another. Stanley Kubrick has interwoven his actors' performances, his cinematograpghy and his soundtrack into a finely edited picture (nominated for four Academy Awards ...

Advantages: Pertinent message, engrossing visuals and sound, fantastic dialogue. Disadvantages: Not too accessible, occasionally shocking violence.
...The notoriety of “A Clockwork Orange” is probably more than enough to reel potential viewers anyway, and while Stanley Kubrick’s film interpretation is not quite as fulfilling as the original Anthony Burgess novel it is not disappointing. Far from it - this is a gripping, shockingly magnificent film. Therefore Alex’s characters becomes the single most vital role in the film, and McDowell is brilliant in it. The film’s second stumbling block has to be the loss of the density of Alex’s language. The “Nadsac” he converses in, in which most of the book is written, is lost when the text is transformed to script dialogue. There’s ...

...the question raised in A Clockwork Orange, Stanely Kubrick's surreal look into a violent future. This controversial 1971 movie is based on the novel by Anthony Burgess, and is certainly a contrast to Kubrick's previous 2001:A Space Odyssey. Well, this film is certainly bizarre. Hands up those that have never heard of it? I think A Clockwork Orange, while not being the best thing since sliced bread, is certainly one of the most well known, if only due to it's infamous nature.
It was originally X rated, and due to it's strong nature, Kubrick saw fit to withdraw it from the shelves about ...

...made for the movie A Clockwork Orange, made by the renowned Stanley Kubrick in 1971 from the novel by Anthony Burgess. It had three controversial years out in the light of day and was then withdrawn from release by Kubrick himself. Advantages: Fantastic acting, superb direction and unimagineable creative writing. an excellent film all round Disadvantages: Can be a little distasteful with all the in and out, and ultra violence
This film is destined to change your entire perspective, Beethoven may not sound quite so bad, codpieces will induce fear and milk will never really compare. The warped nature of the film is it's most defining and enduring feature. Banned for over 20 years on these shores, it has been summoned to entice a new generation. The story is centred on a teenager called Alex with a bizarre language, social life and music taste. Him and his gang see fit to commit violent acts on seemingly inconsequential bystanders. During the day he leads a life of a normal teenager, attending school etc. But at night the promiscuous Alex with his mob commit monstrous illegal acts, ...

..."The Shining", Stanley Kubrick's A Clockwork Orange is one you do not want to miss.
Back in 1971 this was a big hit and is not praised enough nowadays for it's awesome plot and acting. For those of you who watch Britain's Got Talent, the main character in this movie can be seen singing "Singin' in the rain" numourous times during the movie, which i love!

Oh no, I hear you groan, not another one of Kano’s artistic DVD opinions. Yes, I’m afraid so, and since you’ve clicked through, you might as well finishing reading it!!!!
I will start by saying that this film is produced and directed by Stanley Kubrick at the height of his directing career, and as such I would have to say it is his BEST film. The film earned four academy award nominations, including best picture.
Produced in 1971, ... ...Kubrick decided it was more than the British public could handle, and removed it from distribution here. This followed several ‘incidents’ involving people dressing similar to the characters, and committing violent acts similar to those depicted in the film. After more than 20 years absence, the film was only re-released after Kubrick’s death last year.
I will not lie to you, this film IS graphically violent, not the bloodshed ...

Advantages: Great story, well told Disadvantages: Violence may shock
I first saw A Clockwork Orange on a pirate video of surprisingly good quality a few years ago, but still decided that it was worth a viewing at the cinema when released, I have to say that it really is a masterpiece! It tells the tale of Alex and his droogs, young men that like nothing better than rape and lashings of ultraviolence. The first section of the film is mostly about what they get up to, driving people of the roads, beating up a rival ... ...the lady of the house. In prison Alex opts for a revolutionary new treatment, that will mean that he will be physicallty unable to commit another crime.

On first sitting down to watch this film I was not prepared for what I was about to encounter. From the very offset it becomes evident that this is a very unusual and deeply phsychologically moving work.
Kubrick has gone down as a legend in film circles and I have yet to encounter a director with vision so far reaching as his. For to watch a Stanley Kubrick film is to be transported into feelings and emotions we are not prepared for.
The opening ... ...camera slowly backs away to reveal more and more of the room, we gather that we are going to be seeing a mould breaking film.
Very soon the word ultra-violence can be applied, and it is not simply this violence which disturbs, but the indiffernce in the attitudes of those who commit it upon the weak and defenceless.
As we progress through the film we are amused by the witty one liners, delivered by the main character Alex, who is soon to become ...

Advantages: Powerful, Kubrik brings Burgess's messages to life Disadvantages: Not always the easiest of films
Kubrik originally dramatized the distopian novel by Anthony Burgess in 1971, however due to it's violent content it was banned from release for almost thirty years. It has recently been made available on video and is definitley worth a watch.

Kubrik captures the key themes of Burgesses novel, those of the loss of free-speech, the rights of the individual and of society. These themes have in many ways become more poignent, while the allegories with communist societies have become dated in recent years, ever increasing levels of violence and social tension means the film looses none of it's magic.
