Advantages: Very well directed and acted. Hardly dated at all. Disadvantages: Hard to get your hands on!
...dolls home Andy complains of Chucky the doll speaking to him, and after the murders start they realize Chucky is alive and is getting revenge on his enemies, including Andy and his mom!
The storyline may appear trashy but is surprisingly well executed, managing to ditch any remnants of a poor B movie or a trashy horror; instead it comes across as a classy horror, something you wouldn’t laugh out loud at. The production values on this film are quite ... ...and the special effects on Chucky the doll are great. The film is filmed well and by today’s standards is very quality on DVD. The actors and actress for this film are for the main part good. The child who plays Andy (Alex Vincent) is very convincing especially considering he was only about 8 or 9 during the shooting of this film. He delivers all his lines convincingly and with plenty of emotions, especially during one scene where he is locked in ...

Advantages: Hilarious Disadvantages: It's not really meant to be, and is in reality just a terrible film.
...by the cops.
What's more, chucky needs to perform the very same soul transferral spell on poor little andy so that he doesn't stay a doll forever, and so of course much mayhem ensues.
Perhaps the funniest thing about this film (apart from the really dodgy special effects and expressions which chucky makes and the bad acting and ..never mind) is the fact that the main threat to the main characters all through the film is this doll, which is about ... ...jumping on them and roaring.
The brave victims defend themselves by not beating it to a pulp or kicking it really hard, but throwing it on the floor, at which point it gets up and attacks them again. The whole film is full of thousands of little mistakes and illogicalities, as well as containing some truly appaling special effects.
While this isn't really a guru's film, childs play is certainly a good laugh, meaningless but fun- as long as you're ...

...him (yes you've guessed it) Chucky the doll, unaware that the soul of Charles Ray is part of the package.
There are plenty of scares, deaths and witty one liners to follow, and I liked the way everyone blamed the kid for the killings, dismissing his revelations that his doll was alive and very evil.
The film was one scare after another, you never really know who will survive as much of the plot was unpredictable with unexpected twists and turns.
... ...range of expressions, and could turn from cute and adorable to psycho killer in a heartbeat. The camera angles made the film creepier, as did the music, and seeing the little doll sneaking around in the background with his knife ready to strike was terrifying.
I've never seen a film before or since that scared me so much, and I'll never look at dolls in the same way again.
There have been a few movies that use the doll theme such as dolly dearest, ...

Advantages: Really good imagination and treat for the horror fan. Disadvantages: None really because this was the best of the three.
Childs play is a must for any true horror fan. The whole idea of a doll being the killer and being smart makes this film very creative. It is not too gory and although it is not very realistic it does have a very good story line. I personally think that if black magic does exist then why is it not possible for that magic to be transferred into a doll? It certainly does in this film. This film however has been banned in my country (england) and i ...
...Soon the fun starts, Chucky doesn't let his size stop him from slicing and dicing. Andy is soon under suspision for the killings, no one beleives him that Chuckys alive. Also Chucky needs Andy, he wants to recite the voodoo spell and take over Andys body. Anyway the film climaxes with Andy, his mum and a cop in a battle with Chucky, (the part where Chuckys body, missing the head, an arm and a leg, still crawling is excellent and reminds me of the ...
