Advantages: Great animation. Disadvantages: Uninvolving characters.
Visually 'Chicken Run' is stunning. The attention to detail of the film is incredable, such as tiny knitting (apparantly made using pins for knitting needles), the machinations of the pie machine and of course the chickens themselves, all with hundreds of indiviual feathers; however the story is strangly uninvolving. When I heard of the film I thought there was no way it could lose because the animation was so good, but the characters aren't really ...

Review of Chicken Run (DVD)
Advantages: Good Animations Disadvantages: Quite Short
Chicken Run.
This is a great film. The film itself is very short, but it is defiantly worth seeing. The film is made by the same people that made Wallace and Gromit, it is quite a funny film and it mocks other films very well. The main character of the film is probably Rocky, who has the voice of Mel Gibson. The film is all about a group of chickens that want to escape from their owners as they are treated badly and are killed if they do not lay ...

Advantages: Very Funny Disadvantages: There aren't any
This was a great film and good fun to watch. I've always liked Wallace and Gromit and finally the makers made a film. I loved it. I could not stop laughing. Mel Gibson was one of the main characters and he did very well and made it very funny. If you heard, 'It's about Chickens Escaping from there farm' you would not think it was very interesting but you would be wrong. It has the funniest charaters and the speakers make it really funny. As soon ...

Review of Chicken Run (DVD)
Advantages: Hilarious Disadvantages: You might die of laughing
The golden Aardman touch made this film made this film a sure-fire success with children of all ages. The creators of ‘Wallace and Gromit’ have taken their animated genre to new and previously unexplored heights. With a wider reaching comic appeal than ‘The Simpsons’, ‘Chicken Run’ had everyone, grandparents, eight year olds and even sulky teenagers, rolling in the aisles. The plot is simple, the characters two dimensional and the conclusion ludicrous, ...
Advantages: Hilariously funny and a dry british wit Disadvantages: Mel was a bit of a let down really
Now you may call me biased as I have been following Aardman Animationssince I was about 12 and have liked everything they have done. And this is no exeption. All the characteristics that made the Wallace and Gromit Series and Creature Comforts great are here.
The film (although short) is a fantastic skit on old war and prison movies (predominantly the Great Escape) with the dry british wit that we love, along with a tip of the hat to other great ... ...the Blues Brothers.
Don't however go and see it for Mel's Rooster as he isn't as impressive as he was made out to be, but some of the chickens and the two rats really do steal the show.. suitable for children, but not a kids film by any means. ...

Review of Chicken Run (DVD)
...world. Needless to say Chicken Run is terrific entertainment for the whole family. The Aardman connoisseurs will marvel at the facial expressions of all the characters while the children will giggle over the slapstick antics of the mothering hens. As with many animated movies it is usually the voices that attract many moviegoers and perhaps the Hollywood influence could have produced a few more, easily recognizeable chickens however Mel and his female ...

Review of Chicken Run (DVD)
...going to see the over-rated chicken run then? don't bother! I felt that it was the worst pile of rubbish I have ever seen. I don't think that it even compares to the brilliance of wallace and gromit. The story line to this film was very poor indeed. There was a bit of humour but not a great deal. It was more of a childrens film than something that an average teenager would go and watch. If ur into violence, death and destruction then I would seriously ...

Review of Chicken Run (DVD)
Advantages: Colourful and the children understand the plot Disadvantages: No character depth
As far as animated films go, this isn't one of the best. But its OK!
A variation on the style of Wallace & Gromit these chickens are every bit as well animated, but they lack character. The plot as everyone probably now knows, is these chickens are determined to get out of their 'run', with the film loosely based on the old war film 'The Great Escape', (which is are far better film).
The storyline is a bit simple but understandable enough for any ... ...comic. The best being the two rats who are the dodgy goods traders. As a film it has a beginning, middle and end but unfortunately they are just all a bit predictable. In comparison to the Wallace & Gromit short films the American influence on the brilliant skills of Nick Park and his collegues, has brought down the subtle English humour of these types of film. ...

Review of Chicken Run (DVD)
Advantages: All round brilliant Disadvantages: So much detail I feel sure I've missed half of it.
Chicken Run is just excellent - if you like Wallace and Gromit you'll love this film. The gestures, mannerisms, ideas and characterisations are pure Wallace and Gromit. Although I wasn't sure if this type of format could be sustained for a full-length feature before I saw the film, having seen it I can safely Nick Parks has once again proved what a genius he is.
The characters are brilliant and I'm sure you will recognise "types" of people you know ... ...on chickens - chicks, hen, chicken and egg etc. are excellent. The attention to detail is just stunning.
I would be more than happy to see this film at least once more as I'm sure there is loads of stuff I missed having seen it only once.
Despite the film mainly being about chickens it was the rats that I liked the best - they were just excellent. ...
Advantages: A pleasant 90 minutes Disadvantages: Just didn't quite do it for me...I even found myself looking at my watch
I was expecting this much-hyped film to be fuunier. It made me smile in places but I had been led to believe that it was a real belly-laugh, especially for us adults.
The thing I found most disappointing was the lack of personality of the main heroine. Ginger, the lead female hen was unmemorable, both in terms of her characterisation and also her voice. Who could forget Wallace's voice...not so with any of the hens or roosters in this film. Mel ...

i took 2 children 4 & 5 to see this animated to be classic last week-end at our local cinema and we all thougholy enjoyed the flim , there was enough humour for both children and adults to enjoy the film and the animation was fantastic even down to the smallest details i give this film a huge family thumbs up ONE VERY IMPORTANT POINT HERE make sure that you stay in your seat through-out the credits (they lasy for approxamtely 3-4 minutes ) as most ...

Advantages: Fantastic film, story, characters, everythying really Disadvantages: Too short
...with Chickens trapped in a chicken run. They have a limited time to escape before they are turned into Chicken pies. They've tried every way to escape before but never managed - all that is left is trying to go over the fence. Can they bounce out? Can they learn to fly? Can they build a flying machine? You'll have to watch the film to find out!
I'd wholeheartedly recommend this. Its in the same vein as Wallace and Grommit but with more mainstream ...

Review of Chicken Run (DVD)
Advantages: Funny, clever, appealing to all ages Disadvantages: Predictable ending
...would imagine a fat plastercine chicken to be. The storyline has a certain inevitability but the script is fantastic, funny, quirky, emotional, empathetic and mature. The characters are strong and appealing, although perhaps not automatically as asthetically pleasing as Gromit and Sean, each shines within its own originality. The celebrity voices are an added somewhat unnecessary bonus, but it is kinda comforting to know Mel Gibson is as convincing ... ...gun ho one!
I highly reccommend this film as a light-hearted relaxation number, it will keep your attention to the last despite the slight lack of plot. It is less likely to appeal to the hard core action junkies, but if its a laugh you are after, its a must see. ...

Review of Chicken Run (DVD)
Advantages: The humour which continued throughout the whole film Disadvantages: The length maybe? This is the first feature length film Aardman have done
I don't know how they do it but the Aardman team really know how to make their animations as entertianing for adults as for children. Maybe its the "In" jokes, the small details which only older viewers might spot or maybe just the characters who, despite being made mostly from modelling clay, have appeal and charm.
Being a huge fan of the Wallace and Gromit trilogy (if that's what it can be called) it seemed odd to hear no mention of Wensleydale ... ...adventure but surprisingly,to me it was a pleasant change.
A whole different scenario, the Great Escape plot became apparent immediately as the opening scene showed Ginger (the female lead) planning another escape. There was a short lull about half way through while the but the jokes were still there. The action soon picked up again though towards the escape scenes at the end. The ending was nice, finished the film off well, but I won't spoil it ...

Advantages: Good jokes for young and old Disadvantages: None really
Nick Park treats us to his first feature film to feature in the cinema over the summer months with his masterpiece "Chicken Run".This has to be one of the films of the year. The slick animation and dialogue result in a fascanating spectacle for both adults and children alike. The jokes I felt were often aimed at older people and not all that appealling to the younger genaration. But in saying this there were the usual cartoon elements to make this a ...
