Advantages: Artistic Brilliance Disadvantages: Too short
This film is a work of shere genius. The skills, time, effort and LOVE that have been invested deserve every bit of success that it receives.
The story line is reasonably funny although copied very obviuosly from other areas, but when you look it for the artistic qualities, it cannot be faulted.
I see awards galore for the production team and Aaardman animations if not before surely are now up there with Disney and Warners as one of the worlds ...

...my local cinema to see chicken run with my 3 year old daughter and wasnt sure if she would like it or not, being a bit young. However, much to my surprise she thought it was a brilliant film and laughed so much she was nearly crying. Sometimes she only laughed because other boys and girls did, but some parts she really understood. She fell in love with the characters so as Rocky, voiced over by Mel Gibson, which was strange but very impressive. I ...

Advantages: Great animation, funny, good characters. Disadvantages: Poor ending.
Chicken Run is a masterpiece of animation - they have obviously spent huge amounts of money and time getting it just right. The characters are well acted and animated - the goodies are obviously good and the baddies are horribly bad. The moments of humour are truly memorable, and the attention to detail painstaking.
Although the plot wasn't on a par with Wallace and Gromit, it was quite believable up until the ending, which i felt let the film down. ... ...even by the standards of animated films, it was completely unbelievable. It was as if the men at the brainstorming session before the film had got carried away and forgot to take out some of their more zany ideas during production. I may just be overcritical and boring, but to me it didn't fit in with the context of the film - everything else had been reasonably possible and believable, but the ending was just too much. A good family film that the ...

...more engrossing.
Having said that, chicken run is good, its just not good enough. The animation is superb, its fun picking out the voices but they aren't strong enough, the jokes are funny, the little asides are interesting (recreating scenes from the great escape and indiana jones) and the gravy nozzle looks mildly rude to my warped mind but put all of it together and it just isn't as funny as a penguin with a rubber glove on its head. ...during this review. Honestly.
Chicken Run was one of those films I couldn't decide whether I wanted to see it or not. I dithered outside the cinema for a while, and it was close, but Chicken Run got my £4.50 admittance. I settled down apprehensively, expecting some poor claymation and a weak script better suited to half an hour on Christmas Day, not 90 mins in full cinematic viewing.
I was wrong.
Chicken Run is a riot! You'll fall in love with ... ...chicken, is brilliantly voiced by the competent Julia Sawalha of Absolutely Fabulous fame, and she charges the story down a path taking in love, hate, fear, communism, escapes and treachery. The script is top-notch. Claymation is superb, and almost all the film will have you laughing or worrying about the chickens. The scenes inside the oven are fantastically done, giving the audience a true sense of danger...despite the fact they are ONLY CHICKENS!

...DVD insert but then a chicken is a chicken for all that). Some of the jokes are funny because they are so obvious. (“What is this machine?” “It’s a chicken pie maker … chickens go in; pies come out?”. “What type of pies?”) There are also some sublime examples (blink and you’ll miss them) of typical British humour. There is a snatch of the theme tune to “The Archers” (for the uninitiated, a long running radio soap about life down on the farm in middle ... ...the threat of the abovementioned chicken pie machine. Rocky is the all American turkey - who turns out to be just that (a 'turkey') - but who comes through in the end. The picture is suitable for all except perhaps the most timid of the ‘tinies’ amongst us (close your eyes when the silhouette of the axe comes down across the stretched neck on the block). The overt violence is directed at the ‘humans’ which is both expected and funny (a la ‘Punch ...

Advantages: Funny, entertaining, kept my attention the entire way through. Disadvantages: None!
I went to see Chicken Run at my local cinema, expecting to be entertained, and I was, although far more than I had hoped! The characters themselves were fantastic, and it contained aspects that all ages could enjoy - humour, drama, romance. All of my family have gone to see it and all loved it. The reason I decided to go view Chicken Run was because I had become a fan of Nick Park after Wallace and Gromit, and Chicken Run has convinced me even more ...

...been to see the film Chicken run with my son and we both thoroughly enjoyed this animated film. The film is a take off of the "Great Escape" with the hens plotting several ways to escape from the chicken compound. Advantages: Excellent entertainment. Disadvantages: Not quite value for money in its length.
This was an excellent film - I've seen it twice and will definitely buy it when it's out on video. I especially like the scenes that echoed ones from other films - including The Great Escape, Star Trek and Indiana Jones. What was particularly good was the attention to little details, many of which I didn't spot the first time round. I suppose the only criticism I could have is that for the cost of a cinema seat these days you really want to be entertained ...

Chicken Run, a version of The Great Escape with Ginger (Julia Sawalha) taking over the part of Steve McQueen, tells the story of a farm full of chickens at the Audubon-Auschwitz of the Tweedy egg farm. At the Tweedy egg farm, things are fairly routine... try to escape when you can and lay your eggs, or it's off to the chopping block for you. Ginger doesn't like this life, and dreams of living anywhere outside of the farm. Baba (Jane Horrocks) is ... ...believes that whenever Ginger is put in solitary confinement (the trash can) she is on holiday. Fowler (Benjamin Whitrow), a former RAF rooster, reminisces about the good old days of fighting Jerry.
Meanwhile, inside of the farm, Mrs. Tweedy (Miranda Richardson) focuses herself on transforming the slave labor camp into a full-blown death camp (by use of a pie machine) while Mr. Tweedy (Tony Haygarth) tries (and fails) to outsmart the chickens. Everything ...

I loved watching chicken run and found it very amusing to watch a bit like wallace and gromit. my favourite characters were Rocky, Babs and Ginger played by Mel Gibson, Jane Horrocks and Julia Sawalha. I loved trying to guess which star did what voice. The whole film ended up taking 4 and a half years to make. With the whole thing costing 240 million. I'm giving Chicken Run a mild recommendation. I loved the use of animation that was not computer generated or traditional. It is nice to see more variety from Disney and Dreamworks as animation seems to be booming once again. The fact that they had to film this movie one frame at a time while moving clay objects amazes me. I can almost forgive some of the other problems with this movie. The problems center around the screenplay, by Karey Kirkpatrick, ... ...would not recognize. The Great Escape and Indiana Jones and the Temple of Doom are not films that six years old children will be familiar with. I personally enjoyed the allusions, but I did not think they were necessary. The writing also lacks the wit of the Toy Story movies or the charm of Babe, which was an obvious inspiration to the filmmakers. The jokes were much too British for its target audience. I laughed occasionally, but there were times ...
