Advantages: Excellent Animation Disadvantages: Not for younger children
Aardman animations have done an excellent job of the animation, this is flawless and well worth spending your money to see, however the plot is a little on the limp side. The film has been marketed for an audience both young and old,I would dispute this, the cinema that I was in,was about 50/50 split between adults and children, whilst teenagers seemed to enjoy it,the more junior members of the audience became rapidly bored,a young child sat behind me ...
Advantages: Good animation and good comedy Disadvantages: A little bit repetitive
...chickens who live in tweede's chicken farm laying eggs daily with the threat of "the chop" for no eggs. The chickens are all a bit stupid except one called "Ginger" who is constantly trying to get her and all the other chickens out. There many failed escape plans take up most of the first half of the film which makes it a bit dull but if you haven't alredy seen it go and see it now. ...

Review of Chicken Run (DVD)
Advantages: Humour, action, good clean family fun Disadvantages:
I'm a big Wallace and Grommit fan so going to see this film was an absolute no-brainer for me.
Nick Park and Peter Lord have painstakingly crafted a film bursting with ingenuity, humour and character. I don't think even the most hardened of cynics will walk away without a chuckle. There are sight gags, puns, action and even a touch of sadness
I went to see this film with a young cousin and the simple delight and joy on his face as he watched the ... ...And I don't think even the most hardened of cynics will walk away without a chuckle.
Think of The Great Escape. But with chickens. And a farm instead of a POW camp. And instead of tunneling out, they rely on an American rooster to teach them how to fly. It's a fantasy that wouldn't be out of place in a Roald Dahl book. ...

...episode but i was wrong. Chicken run was fun! Especially having Mel Gibson as the leading voice. There was no part in this movie that dragged on which is a big bonus if you are taking kids to the cinema. It was so good i didnt have to leave my seat to take the kids to the toilet! This animated great escape movie is for the adults and the kids to watch, this film provided entertainment which many childrens movies lack! ...

Advantages: V.good animation Disadvantages: poor story
...That is my opinion on Chicken Run. I went to the cinema expecting to be entertained in the same way that Toy Story (1&2) did. I chuckled in places, even laughed in a few, but it just was not really funny. The story did not really work on any level other tha the most simple, and you got the feeling that it was strictlyt a kids film with little to offer to adults than the occasional reference to the great escape etc.
It would be difficult to fault ...

Review of Chicken Run (DVD)
A startlingly fresh, fun and innovative adventure film that still manages to keep an old fashioned perhaps even quaint sense of thoroughbred Englishness. The plot is entertaining and full of incident and the characters are funny and endearing, helped immeasurably by the expert animation. While it may lack the sharp wit of Toy Story 2, the script at least allows character development and the gags are there in a subtle background way. Constantly entertaining ...

Review of Chicken Run (DVD)
Advantages: Very funny Disadvantages: Not long enough
...as Babe did before it, Chicken Run will stop people from wanting to eat members of the cast afterwards. I saw the film with my father-in-law ,my wife and our 6 year old son; so by any stretch of the imagination we were a marketing man's dream of a family watching a family film.
All four of us thoroughly enjoyed the film, and left the cinema wanting to see it again. The animation was as superb as we have come to expect of Aardman and the script and ... ...enjoying the film as much as the adults. In it's unique way this film is as good as Toy Story 2, it's a must see.
Whatever you do afterwards, I bet you won't go and buy a bucket 'o chicken at the KFC, somehow it just wouldn't seem right. ...

Advantages: funny in a chickeny sorta way Disadvantages: storyline could be better
...and that, but it's a chicken what do you expect? And I loved the voices. Especially Mel Gibson's that worked very well. The storyline was predictable but it can get away with that because it had the humour and the suspense funnily enough to carry it off. The acting was fabulous of course. there's much more than meets the eye to that plasticine there is ...

Review of Chicken Run (DVD)
...the younger viewers will like Chicken Run purely for its slapstick humour, although there are plenty of more subtle jokes for those for whom so called ‘obvious jokes’ is not so enjoyable. One of the most entertaining aspects of these types of films is trying to identify the voices of the chickens. If you are anything like me though, you may miss parts of the film trying hard to recall the actress’s name who was in Ab Fab and so on. This takes nothing ...

Review of Chicken Run (DVD)
Advantages: Entertaining, British Disadvantages: Drawn out, not as good as Wallace and Grommit
This was good, but not great. My 6 year old daughter enjoyed it, but nothing like Disney. In fact, it probably wasn't as good as Wallace and Grommit as the jokes became a little stretched out. It's all very clever though, and there are some lovely little touches - witness the farmer being convinvced that his visions of performing chickens are all in the mind. If you hadn't already been told, the story is incredibly unoriginal, a mix of the Great ...

Review of Chicken Run (DVD)
Advantages: Funny, great animation, great characters, Disadvantages: Not as memorable asWallace and Grommit, too 'American'
...most of the hype regarding Chicken Run. I knew it was coming iout, and after seeing a trailer at the cinema I knew it was based on (in the loosest sense of the word) the Great Escape but I didn't know the plot, or even that Mel Gibson was in it!
The story line is fairly obvious, with the chickens coming up with a number of ploys to try and escape from their farm. However, it's the characters that really make the film from Rocky the Rhode Isand red ... ...all the birds to make chicken pie.
Some of the jokes are fairly obvious. For instance, I would have been offended if the intelligent Scottish hen who makes all their plans didn't say "The engines cannae take it" at least once during the film! I wasn't dissappointed and was rearded with a much funnier, completely unexpected Star Trek joke about two minutes later. ...

Review of Chicken Run (DVD)
Advantages: witty, intelligent, suitable for both adults and children Disadvantages: The U certificate means the obvious ending doesn't come to the chicken farmer.
Let's get this clear. Chicken Run is a *very* funny film.
Do not let its rating put you off, it may be a U, but the humour is none the less very adult, and I mean that in the 'appeals to those over 12' sense, not the euphemistic sense. It's a great film for parents to take their kids to, because the parents will probably end up getting more out of it than the children, although they will of course enjoy it.
The plot revolves around The Great Escape ... ...saved until the last ten minutes, I won't spoil it, but surfice it to say, a sudden injection of the blindingly obvious creates a joke that had the entire cinema in stitches. There is also a nice play on the chicken and the egg problem at the very end. ...
...How anyone can make a chicken look cute and funny at one time is beyond me! Nick Park has yet again recreated Wallace and Gromit as Chickens! This film is for anyone who likes animation and/or loves a quick gag! The voices of Mel Gibson and others create the better part of the film. However it is a bit short, but the length is made up with the great storyline and animation ...
A good film, enjoyable but somewhat dissapointing. After all the hype in the media I was expecting a lot more, and I like Wallace and Grommitt. Sorry to all those who liked it but I felt it was not sure wether it was a children`s film or not. Come to think of it I am still not sure which it is after watching it. The filmwork is clever, possibly one of the best of it`s type but I was not impressed with the storyline. I spent much of my time trying ...
