Chicken Run is based on chickens living in a chicken farm, wanting to escape. They live in fear of their lives everyday, producing as many eggs as they can so that they will not end up on the owner’s table. Because Chicken Run is very british it's only right that we should get a better treatment when it comes to the dvd as we get a few more extras than our american cousins. The film is a very amusing and extremely well animated. Like Toy Story the plot and characters come first over the the look and it works. The film is presented in 1.85:1 anamorphic widescreen. After watching Chicken Run at £1 per view at my Students Union film showing, I told myself, Wow! I'm gonna get the DVD! And frankly, I'm not disappointed at all once I got hold of one. Advantages: SOme funny moments, action towards the end, a lot of effort has gone into making it, films before this one were all good, good animation
Disadvantages: Far too many of the same kind of ideas, not eccentric enough, doesn't come up to quality of Wallace and Gromit, too dark, not enough comedy

Whilst most people are familiar with, and love the 'Wallace and Gromit' animated series created by Aardman animations, very few people who I have talked to about this movie (which was created by the same team of engineers and animators) actually enjoyed it anywhere near as much. Babs the chicken is by far the best chicken, when she fears she is about to go for the chop she faints and then comes out with "my whole life flashed before my eyes-it was very boring !" film is nothing without it's script and like Toy Story this works because it focuses on a decent story. This is a film anybody of any age can enjoy and watch over and over again. Sadly it's a bit too short and just leaves you wanting to see more. ... Read review

Disadvantages: Obviously, don't expect it to be the most amazing, original plot, as it is an animation.

...Basically, there is a chicken farm and they want to escape. When Rocky, the flying rooster arrives on the scene, they see this as their big break and comedy follows on watching all the chickens getting fit, and learning to fly. It is an astounding film, extremely well-rounded, it looks fantastic, the story is great, the characters are funny - in an eggshell this really is a fab film.
