I remember seeing this film at the cinema for the first time and I was astounded. It's an amazing film with great songs and its no wonder that its the longest running show on Broadway, it so captivating and the songs are simply amazing. The cast of the film also add to it with Catherine Zeta-Jones playing a sassy Velma Kelly and Renee Zellwegger playing the naive Roxie Hart. I thoroughly enjoyed this film for many reasons. It encorporates a number of emotions jealousy, rage, tragedy, scandal and yet still manages to get your toe tapping along to the tunes but without making a farce of the film overall. Wow, i can't belive this film has only been reviewed 7 times! This is the best musical to come along since Moulin Rouge! ...of the jazz scene of Chicago back in the day. Especially clever are the 'dream' sequences which see different characters performing their thoughts on stage. This movie builds and builds to an awesome finale seeing Velma and Roxy join forces and deliver an amazing jazz performance.
