You obviously know what's going to happen next and the scene is directed so well, it manages to frighten you. ...it telling cinemas goers that Cherry Falls would be hitting a cinema near you this fall. Well it never arrived in the states but did get a release in the UK. There is a story behind this film. Those who have watch it may find it a tad disjointed and the deaths scenes very fleeting. Well there is a reason for this. I always tend to head my reviews with quotes from the movie if I can, and even the most Z-grade slasher has a few lines that are hilarious...intentionally or otherwise. 'Cherry Falls' is no exception, and that's why I've picked my favourite line from this slack teen horror, that appeared in the resurrected sub-genre almost as an afterthought. The rest of the script seems to be made up of lines randomly snipped out of a copy of Smash Hits magazine. ...

...you liked scream, then you most certainly are going to enjoy this, if you don't like gore, then don't bother. Expect to see a lot more of the gorgeous Brittany Murphy as well. Despite watching the previews and hearing the adverts on the radio, I went to go and watch 'cherry Falls' (partly because 'Scary Movie' was sold out). From what I had already seen and heard, I had established that 'Cherry Falls' was another teen-horror flick so I went into the cinema expecting the worst- or was I? The title itself was enough to put anyone else off, it doesnt actually shout 'horror' does it? But I soon found that the name was perfectly ...
...a bit of blood and gore- but not enough to make it scary. I'm sure there is more gruelling things to be seen on 'Casualty', and that is not saying much. Admittedly I jumped once or twice (I'm ashamed to admit to this!)but in moments of the film where the audience should be quaking in their boots, there wasnt a person in the cinema who wasnt sniggering. A good, simple way of judging how well a film held your attention is to count the number of times you look at your watch - in this case I spent more time looking at that than I did the screen. Cherry falls is a hark back to the time when they used to churn out formulaic slasher flicks in the 80's. Brittany Murphy and Biehn are watchable and somehow the director managed pummel a performance out of the wimpy Jay Mohr. Theres a teen virgin killer around - what better talisman against him/her than a massive shagfest? theres the usual 'i am not ready yet' cliches, theres they usual hardassed disbelieving authority figure, and yes theres flashbacks ...
...this film stand out above some of the slasher flicks in the stable is its enjoyable tongue in cheek tone. One notable scene is the pyscho killer swearing as he can't remove the axe quick enough from a guys head to chase after the girl.
