...project on E.B White's book, Charlotte's Web. We made clay animals and the teacher read a chapter each day. As a child it was one of my favourite books and I was shocked and disappointed when my partner refused to go and watch it with me. The other day however he came back from the shop with the DVD and I finally got round to watching it…what a film!

Advantages: Fantastic real life and animated animals, success of small things Disadvantages: Over sweet story, too identifiable voice talents, realistic rat, flat characters
This film is based on the classic children’s book by E.B.White. I cannot say how closely this adaptation is to the original book, as, though it is stated as a classic, it seems to have completely passed me by during my life so far. I had absolutely no recollection of the story at all so I approached this film with completely fresh eyes and no preconceived ideas as to the story.
The introduction to the story shows how a pig is saved from early slaughter ... ...litter, the farmer was going to kill it until his daughter, Fern, wakes up in time to say she will look after it instead. The whole film from then on is structured around the story of the trying to save this pig, named Wilbur, from slaughter. The girl, Fern, made me think of my own daughter who is of a similar age. She has a great love of animals and would love to have such a pet to look after. This is more likely to end up as a dog rather than a ...

Charlotte’s Web
Charlotte’s Web was firstly a book written by E. B. White and this is one book I can remember reading and re-reading over and over again when I was younger. I enjoyed it so much as the characters were brought to life by the author and I was ecstatic when the cartoon film came out for me to enjoy as well.
Now many years later they have made it in to a motion picture and it has been recently released out on to DVD this week. Seeing ... ...my boyfriend to pick this DVD up while he spent the day at a friends so I could watch it uninterrupted on my own.
Watching the DVD certainly did bring back lots of good memories for me, as this film is an exact remake of the cartoon version and so much like the book that I read repeatedly. The main human character is Fern a young farmers daughter played by the amazing actress Dakota Fanning. The story starts with Fern seeing the spring pigs born ...

Advantages: A fun family film for under-tens. Disadvantages: It's somewhat predictable.
After young Fern saves runt piglet Wilbur from the chopping block, he learns that friendship is the most important thing in the world. The other animals in the barn think he’s naïve, but Charlotte, the spider who lives in the rafters sees tremendous potential in him. The other creatures let him know his days are numbered and it appears only a miracle can save him from becoming someone’s lunch. But Charlotte determines to help him by spinning words ... ...special the little pig is.
“Charlotte’s Web” is as much a part of American childhood as learning to ride a bike. Its themes are universal; friendship, tolerance and respect for others. It is one of those stories that can easily tip over the edge into syrupy sentiment. But director Gary Winick just about keeps the movie on an even keel and out of the danger zone. This is partly because he mainly uses real animals, which are far more difficult to ...

I bought this movie because it looked similar to Babe ; a movie which I have always loved. This movie is indeed similar to Babe , with talking animals and so on although the storylines are completely different. I liked both this film and Babe , and therefore I cannot decided which one I prefer best , although I'm sure that if you liked Babe then you'll like this.
For a while I couldn't work out ...
