When I found out Tim Burton (Beetle Juice, Edward Scissorhands) was directing this, I had very high expectations, and he is a brilliant director. But I have to admit, I think he could have done a better job, especially with his past experiences/films. The film is closely based on the actual 1964 book more so than Gene's Wilder's 1971 film version. ...
...to top it off, when Charlie found the note that bought him the winning chocolate bar it was an American note!!! Argh!! I just feel like it's a downright stupid mistake to make!!
