...this was the case for Cats and Dogs. I kept seeing really funny trailers, and as a lover of both cats and dogs, this film held great appeal for me. So was the finished product worth the wait? Read on and find out…..

The leading cats and dogs have some great lines – it must be an inherent part of my nature, but the evil pussy cats were much more amusing to me than the dumb doggies! The film portrays a whole new world, with secret canine societies and a deep rooted war between the cats and the dogs that runs much deeper than the cartoon tradition.
The film is a clever blend of live action, computer animation, and puppetry – apparently ...

Advantages: Fun, good effects and sequences Disadvantages: Damn humans
Cats and Dogs is a talking animal flick like Babe or Doctor Dolittle except it's a lot more violent. It takes the simple premise that Cats and Dogs are raging war against each other using secret agents and Bondesque gadgets. Dogs get the nod as the good guys in the film whilst the cats are the evil dodgy accented bad guys looking to take over the world. The films main star is Lou, a beagle (voiced by Toby Maguire) who is accidentally picked to be ... ...allergic to dogs and the cats want to stop him. Lou also has to contend with cute kid who needs a friend as his Dad spends all day and night in the basement. The cats are lead by Mr Tinkles, a deranged Persian who makes every Bond baddie look sane and reasonable. Despite surrounding himself with incompetent cats (including John Lovitz), he plots an plans while being dressed up and bathed by his elderly owners maid.
Lou is recruited in the agency ...

...battle has been raging – cats and dogs across the globe are locked into a fight for world domination. In the Brody household, Professor Brody (Jeff Goldblum) is on the verge on inventing a cure which will stop any human being allergic to dogs, something which the cats, lead by the fantastically named Mr Tinkles (voiced by Sean Hayes), must stop. The Acting
As far as all the voice actors go I couldn’t really find anything to fault them on. Tobey Maguire (Pleasantville, The Cider House Rules) plays Lou with a youthful enthusiasm I spent the whole film trying to figure out who was doing the voice of Butch (it turned out to be Alec Baldwin, one of the few Baldwin brothers ...

...standard and as i like cats and dogs anyway i though it would be the puuuurfect combination....i wasn't far wrong. Let's be honest here, this film ain't going to win any oscars (although the animation of the cats and dogs' mouths do deserve to win one alone) but it is great fun aimed at a family but i tend to think that some of the jokes in the film are a little too clever for kiddies to understand. The storyline is quite solid. Cats and dogs have ... ...Lou to ensure the pussy cats don't come anywhere near the formula and this makes for great viewing. The scene with the ninja cats and Lou is absolutly fantastic and so realistic that you actually have to remind yourself that you're watching animation NOT the real thing. There is also another scene with a russion cat which is also both very funny and very clever.
The boss-cat is a fluffy white persian named....Tinkles, whose owner likes to give him ...

...it was me! Cats and Dogs is the second film this week that I've been dragged along to that features talking animals. Maybe dragged isn't the word as there's just something about animals in movies that makes them worth a look no matter what age you are. Let us not forget that this is movie fot the kids so it has to be judged as one somewhat. I saw the stroke beard arty types on Late Night Review last friday reviewing this, lets face it why are they ... ...all have the idea that Cats and Dogs don't seem to have the greatest of affections for each other. We've seen their rivalry highlighted in countless movies and cartoons like Tom and Jerry many times. In this movie the rivalry is intense, in fact the dogs have a secret agency of agents all over the world to protect the humans against the threat of cats. One such doggy agent belongs to the Brody family but gets catnapped. The reason for this is that ...

Advantages: All round family entertainment Disadvantages: A little violent at times for younger children.
Cats are evil cunning creatures driven by bloodlust. Dogs are noble, faithful and dim-witted. On this assumption the movie ‘Cats and Dogs’ was born. Between feline and canine factions a bitter war, unseen by human eyes, apparently rages in our homes, gardens and on our streets. The film tells the story of a struggle for supremacy and focuses on beagle puppy-cum-rookie secret agent Lou (voiced by Toby Maguire) who, following the decommissioning ... ...will the Dogs or the Cats rise victorious?
And will professor Brody (Jeff Goldblum), the brains behind the vaccine, actually get a sniff of what’s happening right under his nose? The feline villain is an evil joy as he cackles and whoops with unashamed glee as his underpaw plans appear to come together. Ninja cats in matrix-style fight sequences and soppy lump-in-the-throat moments between Lou and his young owner (Alexander Pollock) interspersed ...

...have been so much better. Cats & Dogs is one of those movies which falls into the trap of making itself appeal to one section of society and one alone - kids. Advantages: doesn't tax the brain Disadvantages: none really
I will never see my cats in the same light, as they sit on top of the wardrobe watching me as I sleep! If you don't have pets you would probably enjoy this film, if you do then you will be laughing from start to finish. Absolutely hilarious antics all the way through - except for the usual sloppy bits that just have to invade a good comedy.
The acting is superb, from the animals that is, the effects very well done.
The main plot of the film is: ... ...most wanted pets. The cats want to get hold of the formula and destroy it so they can take over the world. In an attempt to foil the cats a dog is 'placed' in the scientists house to protect the formula until it is complete. What follows is just so funny with few places where you can catch your breath and compose yourself. There ...

Advantages: Good kid's movie Disadvantages: Not Toy Story
Cats and Dogs is an enjoyable family movie, whether you’re a dog person or a cat person. The plot, for what it’s worth, is that Jeff Goldblum – who plays a slightly deranged inventor – is perfecting a vaccine which will prevent allergic reactions to dogs. This will make dogs much more popular and increase their chances of becoming the pet of choice throughout the world. This would clearly have a detrimental effect on the feline ... ...formula.
Of course, the cats and dogs can talk and have access to a range of highly sophisticated gadgetry of a type more normally found in James Bond movies. The dogs are the good guys, the cats are the bad guys – after a series of adventures and special effects the good guys win and the bad guys, or Mr. Tinkles at least, get their comeuppance.
Adults may find the special effects just a little disappointing but they're good enough to please ...

...all know this film has cats and dogs, i thought that would be it but to my surprise, yes you did see humans, now personally i feel that it would have been better without humans, as most films cause as well all know cats and dogs going at it (in the arguing sense) with words!!!!!!! is far funnier than seeing 2 humans going at it (in the arguing sense) with words!!!!!
The basic plot of the film goes: cats want to take over the pet world of things ... ...in other words), so the cats feel that if they get hold of this they can reverse it and make everyone allergic to dogs so they can be loved more and have more power (cool i know).
The first scene of the film is dogs being trained by a military dog, this is so they can beat the cats when they get picked to go to their new home (they're puppies and are gonna be bought), so this happens and finally when the parents come to pick up the dog they pick ...

...and family entertainment, and so Cats & Dogs would seem to be a pretty strong favourite for decent Yuletide viewing. It has most of the requisite qualities you need to succeed with both kids and families - it's undemanding, shallow, and unambitious. However, you'd have to be pretty undemanding yourself to see much to entertain you from this insipid little piece of dross.
It was thrown up in a huge amount of hype and advertising to be the latest ... ...can't hide the fact that Cats and Dogs is one hugely dull and childish offering which has nothing of any substance about it.
The powers that be (whoever they may be) must have thought they were onto a pretty good thing when they came up with the smart idea of partnering animatronics and special effects with human vocalising to produce an appealing mix of cats, dogs and slapstick humour, but how wrong they were. There's an old adage that goes, "Never ...
