Picture a dirty naked man who has not shaved in ages, walking around a desert island. Imagine sitting in a cinema and watching him for two and a half hours as he searches for something, without even realising that God was there on the island with him and waiting to save him!
This film stars Tom Hanks, who gained notoriety a few years ago for playing a prison guard in "The Green Mile." The film starts off with Hanks in an aeroplane on Christmas Eve. ... ...they don't believe in Father Christmas. In his anger, he seizes control of the plane and crashes it into the sea, killing everyone except for himself. Hanks spends three days floating on a seat cushion, blaming God and cursing Jesus for something that demons inside him had caused.

I recently went to the cinema to see Cast Away starring Tom Hanks and Helen Hunt. I thought it would be quite boring with most of the film focusing on a desert island with only one character, I was wrong! The film has really good effects and is even quite funnny in parts I think. Cast Away
I saw the adverts and decided that it looked ok my mum told me to watch it so I did and I will never forget it a man stuck on a far away island his only friend bieng a football caled Wilson I loved it.With a mixture of drama and comedy its everything you can possibly ask for.
The story starts with a man that sells products he has to leave home and catch a airplane the last thing he says before he leaves is "I will be back for christmas"BUT ... ...4 YEARS!!!.After a plane crash he ends up on a island with only some of his products scatterd over the beach.In one of the box's was a football which he picked up with his bloody hand and threw away.But when he picked it up where he had thrown it there was a blood stain in the shape of a face so he marked in some eyes a mouth and a nose and called it Wilson.
And so the story is set a man stranded on a island with a football as a friend I recommend ...

Chuck Noland a FedEx executive is flying over the Pacific on one his planes when he crashes in a storm. His is left stranded and alone on a desert island to survive without the love of his life, Kelly. He has to learn to surivive on coconuts and whichever fedex packages are washed up. He must learn to fish in order to survive and alongside his "friend" (a basketball called wilson!) he surivives on the island for four years before building the ultimate ... ...some washed up materials abnd he manages to sail it into the pacific, where an oil tanker picks him up. He returns to everyday life but finds out that his girfriend beleived he was dead and was married with a child. This is a very good film, differnet from most films that you see. ...

Advantages: There's a whole lotta Tom, so if ya like him, you'll love the film! Disadvantages: It was too long and ecame corny!!
Okay, to be fair to Tom, he's still a good actor, but the plot was awful! The corniness of the film brought tears to my eyes alone! When i realised there was still an hour left, I nearly stood up and shouted "NO MORE PLEASE, WHAT KINDA MONTERS ARE YOU?!!", but i stayed until the end, after all I did pay! Okay, now to level out my opinion, it was good once he got to the island, but after that the film kinda dragged on and the plot thinned!! So much ... ...else. Okay, so I think we established that this really was NOT my type of film, but if you love Tom, and weepy films, you'll like most of the film! The end was corny, but I won't spoil it for anyone!! Happy viewing everyone, hope your not as cynical as me! ...

Well, it has to be good doesn't ut - I mean Tom Hanks re teaming with Forest Gump Director, remember the heart ache when Forest finds out he's going to be a father, how you felt as proud as Forest did siting waiting for the school bus, and yes how every git in the world quoted Life is like a box of choc's...
Do not exspect any really quotable moments hear - with most conversations taking place beteen Hanks and a ball you know the script is going ... ...film is - for the most part one of the best films you will see this year, it is only when he comes back to the real world that it sucks, so enjoy the reality of the island while it lasts, the rest is not worth waiting for.
Overall - well worth you hard earned Fiver
Oh, any you will love the Ice Skate scene - I won't spoil it for you - but ouch!!!!!!!! ...

Tom Hanks!!! well wow! from start to finish his acting as in all of the films he stars in was amazing! You spend over an hour just watching him and thinking, what can he do next? The dedication this man has to his acting career is amazing, they had to stop filming for 6months so Tom Hanks could loose weight to make the film even more realistic. Ok, just the title is enough to make you cringe! I don't mind admitting that Tom Hanks is a good actor, but the whole concept of the story is pathetic! You have to be very lucky to survive that plane crash, and just as films go, he did! Ok, maybe theres a possibility that he would survive the crash, but once he got on the island, NO WAY would he survive for 4 years there! All he ate was raw fish and all he drank was a few drops of coconut milk each ... ...for 4 years! Its silly, and it got so boring cos he did the same stuff everyday. Another thing to completely put me off the film was that there was this girl sitting in front of me sobbing her heart out-I mean, for gods sake, get a life!Its not even a real story like the Titanic (don't even get me started on that!)
I have to say that the only good point about this film was that I had my boyfriend sitting next to me, and just knowing he is there ...

My husband and I went to see this movie because we thoroughly enjoy Tom Hanks and we were amazed yet again by his unbelievable ability to mesmerize the audience with his unbelievable skill. ...out of entertaining ideas for one man and a beach, because they allowed him to attempt some very stupid enterprises.
Often films end the story too soon, but Castaway answered my "Well, what happened next?" questions rather well.

I had bought a box set of videos that all had tom hanks in them. the film is about a man who's plane crashes and he is the only survivor and he ends up living on an island for months untill he is rescued and how he goes almost insane.
This isnt a good film as it is very slow moving and there isnt much action in it. the middle of the film would have to be the only part that isnt quite as boring as the rest of the film. I would not recomend this film ...

Well I suppose on balance it was ok. But I was expecting ... well I dont know what I was expecting really. Not what I got.
Story is... well the story is quite brief really - Fed Ex man gets stranded on an island entirely alone after a plane crash. That's it. Oh, and he might get off again, he might not - I won't tell you. Watch the film and find out :+)
It IS worth watching, and Tom Hanks probably should have won awards aplenty for it, but I still ...

Before i even saw this film, i knew it would be good, simply because Tom Hanks is in it.
