Advantages: Heart-stopping action and a Bond that can really act. Disadvantages: That dreadful theme song and poor opening credits.
Bond is back (to basics)! We see the young spy achieve double 0 status before causing an international incident with his first mission in Madagascar. But instead of giving him his marching orders, M needs him to enter a high stakes poker game in Montenegro where he has to take on the mysterious Le Chiffre, banker to the world's arms dealers. Born To Be Bond Review ofCasino Royale (DVD)by

Advantages: Pulsating, action-packed, riveting adventure movie. Disadvantages: Not a lot!
...long line of Bond movies, Casino Royale.
Many other Bond aficionados obviously shared my trepidation. Craig was roundly criticised both online and in the mainstream media for his lack of good looks, (his ears stick out) the wrong hair colour, (he’s blond) and for lacking the required acting credentials to replace a long line of good Bond actors such as Sean Connery, Pierce Brosnan, and Timothy Dalton.
The only other movie of note that I could personally ...

FILM REVIEW
The plot of Casino Royale is a bit weak really. James Bond is fighting terrorism – the scourge of the 2000s! He has to win a poker game worth millions, to stop the bad guy Le Chiffre from winning the cash and using it to fund international terrorism. The poker game is to be held at the Casino Royale in Montenegro.
That’s about all you need to know really. I spent quite a bit of the film not particularly following the ...

...brilliant, as Bond. Knowing that Casino Royale is the first episode in Bond's varied adventures, it seemed right that he looked younger and fitter than Roger Moore, Sean Connery or Pierce Brosnan. However, I was expecting to find out a bit more about the man who is Bond, and from that point of view we are given nothing. He begins his career as 007 with no history behind him whatsoever. There is some character development during the film and we see ...

Advantages: Star Studded Cast Disadvantages: Loses plot towards end
Casino Royale was the first book by Ian Fleming featuring Commander Bond.It has to be said, this is not an official Bond film, with such a star studded cast it is hard to believe, although the rumour is the next Bond film will be based on this novel.
Background
-----------------
Director's licence has taken over a bit I feel, but it does not detract from the film. It is slapstick and comedic and should not be compared with the regular Bond films. ...

...right man for the part. Casino Royale is the first film he has played the part of Bond and after saying to myself I would go see the film I never got round to it but the other night I finally watched the film and have to say I was surprisingly impressed and it wasn't as torturing an experience as I'd expected it would have been.
The film goes on with the plot of 007 going to Madagascar on a mission he is there to get an international bomb maker ...

...to be a remake of Casino Royale? I, for one, couldn't wait. Then, the announcement of Daniel Craig as James Bond was made. The potential was there, sure, but I remember thinking they would have to make a really mind-blasting film to kick off Craig's stint as the suave 007.
And what a film!! Following a brief black and white explanation of Bond's elevation to 'Double 0' status, it starts as it means to go on, with an intense free-running chase. ...

Advantages: New Bond is fantastic, action packed and exciting Disadvantages: It's a while before the new one is out
With Casino Royale, the Bond series had fresh new life breathed into it with the new replacement Bond, Daniel Craig. Craig was fresh and exciting, and brought a much more modern feel to the classic Bond that many of us love and enjoy. Since this movie was released as a box office success, another one has already been released, Quantum Of Solace, in which Craig also played Bond's role incredibly well.
A very large portion of this story is based on ...

Advantages: Action packed movie, Mindboggling story Disadvantages: None
Well I'm a great fan of James bonds movies. And i must admit, choosing Daniel Craig as the 007 agent was a very good decision. He acts very maturely and no doubt suits the role very properly.
Well the story starts with Agent 007 in a mission turned into havoc. His ego is the main problem what causes James to make miscalculated actions. His actions lead to embarrassment to the whole British government. He is on the pursuit of a global terrorist network. ...

Advantages: Good Action Scenes Disadvantages: Gaping Plot Holes
This movie starts with Bond needing two kills to qualify and become a 00; thus granting him a licence to kill. This all happens in the opening sequence were he is sent on a mission to Prague to make those kills. Amongst these are the MI6 section chief, Dryden, who has sold British secrets, and his contact, Fisher.
The basis of the story unfolds when he sent on his first mission as a double-0 to Madagascar in pursuit of international bomb-maker ...

...years of experience. Craig in Casino Royale' starts off by having to earn his Double-0 status, he is later represented as vulnerable, which although we have had insights to the characters emotional side in the series; in Tomorrow Never Dies' (1997, Roger Spottiswoode) one close up angle of Brosnan sitting on the beach thinking demonstrates that he cannot control his feelings and thoughts the way we as the audience thought he could, Casino Royale' ...

...his other films prior to Casino Royale, I had nothing to judge this on.
However the dark look into the life of bond is what this film needed and executed well. Similar to way Batman Begins and Superman Returns went, this was very successful in the new Bond film.
It was really interesting to see how events happened and how his habits occured through Eva Green's character. Such as his drink, the tuxedo and even the gun he uses.

A word of warning - the second half of the movie is pretty much based around a game of high-stakes Texas Hold'Em poker. If those words mean nothing to you, a lot of the tension generated by the nuances of the game will be lost for you. I'm not saying ...

...and their grip on the Casino Royale... I think. There are also other characters called James Bond including one played by Peter Sellars and one by Woody Allen.
You can probably tell from the brief and fairly confused synopsis that this is a fairly confused film that unfortunately is not mercifully brief. With a star-studded cast such as the one assembled here (add to these Orson Welles, William Holden, Ursula Andress, Deborah Kerr and Ronnie Corbett ...

Advantages: Tense, fast paced, engaging action Disadvantages: Poker scenes may bore some
Casino Royale marks Daniel Craig's first outing as 007, James Bond. In it he must stop Le Chiffre, a banker to the world's terrorist organizations, from winning a high-stakes poker tournament at Casino Royale in Montenegro.
I was one of those people who was originally skeptical about Craig's casting. I grew up with Pierce Brosnan as Bond and I didn't know if I could accept someone else in that role. Sufficed to say, I needn't have worried.
Craig ...
