Advantages: The most innovative, entertaining, thought-provoking show on television, all in the same box. Like having a novel playing before you... Disadvantages: Not as good as Buffy gets, but a vital introduction...
...From the word go, Buffy herself, is an outsider, and she's not used to it. At her previous school she herself was the centre of attention, the spoilt and precious teen-bitch. That was before the responsibility of being the Slayer was handed to her. A beautiful counter-point to the fantasy adventure of the Slayer's activities is the notion of Buffy being a reluctant heroine, who wants only to have a normal life, and be a normal girl. Were it not for ... ...captured this nebulous period. Buffy and her friends are neither little adults nor big children - they're genuine teens.
As regards romance, Buffy sees little of it, again because of her great responsibility - parallel with real young people who have to grow up too early (perhaps because of ailing parents, personal illness, bereavement and more). Where she does make an effort to date a boy, it goes almost tragically wrong. What does begin to grow ...

Advantages: Pure escapism! Disadvantages: Some facts are truer than you may think.
...along a skeleton idea that Buffy is the Chosen One, she would rid the world of all the evil things, and who is blessed with Superhuman powers in order to do so. The hook of having a Slayer fall in love with a vampire (as never the twain should meet) is powerful enough to get you pretty much involved in wondering how the story turns out. While this is being played out, there are any number of seemingly unconnected sub-plots and episodes that take ... ...scenes…if the cult status of Buffy the Vampire Slayer is anything to go by, it is likely to appeal to anyone, no matter what age, that loves a little bit of gothic fantasy brought into our immediate lives.
The series is now currently available in box set up to Season Five. The first season is a mere three tapes, comprising of three to four episodes per tape, the last tape usually only having three episodes because the grand finale is usually ...

...of mine bought me the Buffy season six box set for my birthday recently. Well actually it was the first half of season six. And if you want an quick idea of what I thought then you should know that I HAD to go out and buy the second half less than a week later. I found it utterly compelling.
I'm trying not to think about the fact that season six has just started on BBC2. But then if you can't afford the box set I suppose it is a godsend.
The season ... ...Buffy is dead. The scoobies are trying to keep up with Sunnydales increasingly odd demon community. And the only thing standing between Buffy's little sis Dawn from going into care is BuffyBot, an exact robot double of Buffy only half as smart. Things are not looking good.
Well thats all the plot you are going to get from me. Im certainly not going to be the one to spoil it for those who haven't seen it yet. But that won't stop me from filling you ...

Advantages: It's Buffy! Good strong stories and a few nice extras Disadvantages: Not really enough on the extras front
...properly explain the idea behind Buffy would take a long time, needless to say it's about a girl (Buffy Summers) who finds out she has a destiny to slay vampires and other nasty demons and generally keep the world safe. Unfortunately, she is at first reluctant to take up the mantle of The Slayer, but is talked into it by her 'watcher' (and school librarian) Rupert Giles. Just as well, because she finds out that her new town, Sunnydale, is at the ... ...the defining moments in the Buffy Saga too, Angel's background is particularly interesting.
The sound is perfect with a nice audio set up and will even make you jump from time to time when someone creeps up behind Buffy or another character, picture is also of a very high quality, as you would expect from a series this new. Extras form some interesting (but brief) interviews and the Hepburn video to 'I Quit' featuring the girls dressed up as vampires. ...

...show I love then it's Buffy The Vampire Slayer. The show has everything, ass kicking action, monsters, romance, humour and great characters. Whats not to like ? Advantages: Adventure, great story line that follows on through out all the series, is very funny in majority of parts (especially when spike arrives) and also has tragedy and romance for all you hopeless lovers out there :-) Disadvantages: Only that Angel leaves and makes his own series which i dont really like :-(
...The basic jist of the Buffy story is,
'In every life time there is a chosen one. A girl who will stand up against the Vampires, the Demons and the forces of darkness; she is the slayer...' thats the legend anyways, and basically Buffy Summers (Sarah Michelle Gheller) is the chosen one. ...i'm new to all this Buffy lark. Six seasons on and i hadn't seen 1 episode. Browsing my favourite DVD website i see that the first season was released in R1 land (USA) at a rather tasty price so i took the plunge. So what do we get then?? Well this first season comes in a rather swanky three disc set which is pretty identical to the R2 release. The set is a nice gatefold type package with a booklet which to be honest doesn't tell you much, other ... ...So being a Buffy virgin what did i make of it??, to tell you the truth it's actually rather good. I had no reason not to like it as i enjoy most American TV productions. The 1st season deals mainly with the setting up of characters: Buffy and her mates Xander, Willow, Angel, Giles and to some extent the snobby Cordelia. The whole season revolves around this motley bunch and the scrapes they get into. There are two types of Buffy episodes i can work ...

Advantages: released as box set rather than individual videos Disadvantages: none that I know of
Buffy season 5 Box set 1 contains the first 5 episodes from the 5th season. Duting this season the show takes on a darker persona. Buffy and pals have to deal with some agonising moments.
A new addition to the cast is Michelle Trachtenberg, playing Buffy's sister Dawn. 'I didn't know she had a sister', I hear you cry, but don't woory all is explained. And actually the sibling rivalry between the two of them is very fuinny at times, especially when ... ...'Dracula', characterises this beautifully as Buffy does battle with Dracula and Xander becomes Dracula's, bug eating minion. (Very funny).
If you liked the previous seasond of Buffy you are going to love this one, the characters have grown and matured and the overall, season long story is very traumatic.
This box set is a must for any Buffy fan.
The second half of season 5 is due for release later in 2001, with the devastating climax the the story. ...

Advantages: Good storylines and value for money Disadvantages: Often gory, ratings too high
There aren't many shows that I watch as much as this one. This show, although only been watchd by me for a short time, has had my avid attention and I haven't missed an episode since I first found out about it's quality.
The boxsets are just as good, and excellent value. There are 12 episodes per set, working out at about £3.50 per hours viewing, which is very good value. Not only that, but the fully uncut version of each show is seen so there are ... ...the videos too.
I bought the first boxset because I loved the show. At first I wasn't sure whether to buy it or not at such an expensive price, but my mind was soon put at ease and I soon bought all the others to add to my collection.
This show s given a rating of 12+ or 15+ and so is suitable for anyone above that age, but the weak humour and often intriguing storyline, not to mention the good-looking actresses (and actors for the ladies) keep ...

...seems like a long wait, Buffy is here on DVD. It seems as though Joss Whedon (creator) has made sure that the boxset is special. I hope to review all aspects of the release in this opinion.

'The ... ...Boy On The First Date', Buffy realises that The Slayer cannot hold a normal relationship. 'The Pack' sees Xander become the leader of a pack of possessed hyenas. 'Angel' gives us our first real look at the elusive vampire Angel. 'I Robot, You Jane' sees the first real appearance of teacher Jenny Calendar, when a demon becomes trapped on the Internet, causing worldwide havoc. ...certain. Being a newly discovered Buffy fanatic I have not seen many of the old episodes and this one picked up where the tv left it at Buffy running away after being expelled from school and losing Angel.
The boxset contains 11 episodes which unravel what happens after Buffy runs away. She lives under a false identity "Anne" and works ina diner. She encounters demons again when she reluctantly helps out a girl and realises she has to go back home. ... ...usual adventures in the typical Buffy style, it is full of vampire teasing, Xander's wise cracks and Willow's soft, caring nature. It really is a great programme and the charcterisation and acting is as good as you are ever likely to see. ...by the tragic relationship between buffy and angel but this is eclipsed by the superb series 2 in which angel turns evil and throws the whole storyline on its head! i personally think this is one of the better series as joss whedon is able to make the audience feel the whole range of emotions-sadness,betrayal,happiness,shock,and laughter.
