In this one-off musical packed into a single episode of Buffy the Vampire Slayer, Joss Whedon gave us the funniest, cleverest show ever produced. It was packed with song and dance - a complete shocker in a series that had neither - and yet it followed the plot on from previous episodes without missing a beat. Willow ...

...this you say??? A Buffy musical???
This dvd is one episode from season six of Joss Whedon’s Buffy the Vampire Slayer. It is at the time when Buffy has been raised from the dead (you need to watch the rest of the show to get a full understanding of some of this) and is none to pleased about it, her little sister, Dawn, is stealing anything in sight to get a bit of attention, Willow’s use of magic is starting to become an addiction, and Xander and ... ...You wouldn’t think that a Buffy musical would work, but incredibly it does. There are some extremely talented singers in the cast such as Anthony Stewart Head (Giles), Amber Benson (Tara), and James Marsters (Spike), with Whedon’s writing skills and Hinton Battle’s superb performance as demon Sweet, it makes for a Great musical. It even made it into the top 20 of Channel Four’s 100 Greatest Musicals recently (I know that it only got this high because ...

I don't think I'd ever seen an episode of any kind quite like this, but as soon as it was aired, I loved it! So I just had to buy the DVD. And I was not disappointed.

The next morning the gang convene in the Magic Shop and Buffy asks them if anyone else had burst into song.

Now hold on - I don't hate the episode but I hate the idea of having a dvd that was as much as a film for just one episode of a great series. The special feautres on this dvd are not at all special as they are available on the Season 6 edition of Buffy. This episode is by far the best episode of Season 6 and it was groundbreaking. Its a good job that it was in Season 6 as it is a bit of a poor season with several dark undertones (well darker than usual) and this was a welcome shaft of fun into the evilness of Buffy. It was also great to have Anthony Stewart Head coming back for a couple of episodes to join in with the singing. ...
