Advantages: Very funny, great dialogue, leopards... Disadvantages: ... perhaps you won't enjoy it unless you're in a light-hearted mood?
...of Howard Hawks' classic comedy Bringing Up Baby, I was reminded yet again of exactly why I love this film so much. Starring Cary Grant as bumbling palaeontologist Dr David Huxley and Katherine Hepburn as Susan Vance, who he bumps into one day and then ruins… er, changes, his life forever, it also has the massive advantage of starring a leopard. (Actually the humans are just there to make up the numbers, the leopard - "Baby" - is the real star of ... ...as you won't find it; Bringing Up Baby is pure escapist entertainment. Dr Huxley is about to get married - he may be relatively happy about that or he may not, it's purely a marriage of convenience with his work the main priority. His work for the last 4 years has been compiling a skeleton of a brontosaurus, and just one bone is missing - the intercostals clavicle. (When this is found the excitement almost causes him to forget all about his wedding ...

Advantages: HILARIOUS IN MANY PARTS YOU CAN WATCH IT MANY TIMES OVER. Disadvantages: none.
BRINGING UP BABY is a great film, exremely funny, witty, and the acting is good as well.
The stars of the film are CARY GRANT AND KATHERINE HEPBURN,he(cary grant)works in a museum putting to-gether dinosaurs skeletons,(he is always working on one.)
She is a scatterbrained millionairess, CARY GRANT is quite poor and is always looking for money to fund the museum,he has been promised quite a lot of money from KATHRINE HEPBURNS aunt, in the meantime ... ......namely a leopard called BABY...
there are so many twists and turns in this story thats its hard to put it all down or I would be writing a script lol..
but the gist of it is that CARY GRANT has been sent a very important bone from a skeleton of a dinosaur, he has waited years for this bone and now it has arrived some how KATHRINE HEPBURNS dog got hold of it and has buried it in her aunts garden.
They have to find it, without the aunt finding ...

Advantages: Excellent cast, script and plot. Disadvantages: None that really matter in the grand scheme of things.
...If you've never seen Bringing Up Baby it's likely I've just confused you no end. And possibly scared you. But those who have seen this inimitable 1938 gem and treasure it know that it is literally full of quotable lines and pricelessly hilarious scenes, and will presumably forgive me the indulgence of utilising a couple of favourites for the purposes of this review.
Quite simply this is a timeless screwball classic which zips along merrily and never ... ...Both leads give excellent performaces. Cary Grant plays the put-upon bewildered professor with just the right balance between stoicism and exasperation. Katharine Hepburn is the fast-talking, cheerfully eccentric society girl who collides into all his carefully laid plans.
Personally I find enjoyment in the knowledge that Cary Grant was reputedly petrified of the leopard- watch for the expression of speculative worry in his eyes whenever it comes ...

Advantages: Grant and Hepburn perform majestically Disadvantages: Bit too much slapstick
Katharine Hepburn and Cary Grant star in this comedy. David Huxley (Grant) is a paleontologist who needs to finish an exhibit on dinosaurs and thus land a $1 million grant for his museum. On the golf course where trying to persuade a possible benefactor he bumps into Susan Vance (Hepburn) and a series of crazy events ensue as she tries to make him hers including baby leopards, rampant dogs, a dinosaur bone, cross dressing, jail.. the list goes on. ... ...was directed superbly by Howard Hawks. it is fast paced and quirky throughout never letting up or offering a breather. Some of the set pieces are frankly hysterical. Grant and Hepburn are sensational. Both are perfectly pitched with the physical comedy elements (of which there are many) and the dialogue between the two sizzles. Special mention must go to the leopard who performs wonderfully throughout. The only downside and what may alienate some ...
