Advantages: Amusing comic escapism
Disadvantages: If you're picky, not the best adaptation of the book possible. My 4 star rating is because I like my films to be perfect (I'm fussy like that)!

Disadvantages: Quite short in length (95 minutes)

...roughly knows the outline. Bridget Jones is 32, single with a dead end job in publishing. Her diary takes us through the day to day life of a single, very average thirty-something. ...Maguire, behind the scenes featurette, Bridget Jones Articles featurette, Deleted scenes and two music videos. All of which are pretty good in my opinion. Now for those who don't know anything about this film, it stars Renee Zellweger an American actress who had to put on weight to star in this film. ...everyone should have heard of Bridget Jones, if you didn’t read the first or second book and haven’t seen the movie then you must be male or an alien species that has just arrived on the planet. Yes Bridget Jones's Diary is a success, and I don’t just mean financial wise either, its clocked up a £7m total here in the UK already making it the ninth highest grossing opener ever. ...to cynical for all that, Bridget is completely naive, but also desperate to have a life, that deep down inside, she doesn’t believe she can have. All these imperfections make for a very endearing heroine. The fact that Bridget has imperfections, (unlike any role Meg Ryan has played, although I love her as an actress) makes her more human and likable basically. Bridget Jones Diary was a film that everyone was talking about a few years ago. I couldn't wait to see it. I first went to see it at the cinema when it first came out and laughed almost all the way through, it was very funny.
