When I first watched Breakdown I really, really enjoyed it, and thought it was a much better film then some of the negative newspaper reviews gave it credit for. Starring Kurt Russell, Breakdown hurls us into a horrible and frightening scenario right from the off, and cranks up the pressure as the film progresses. The entire film is set in the unforgiving Arizona desert, a lonely and barren place, and a great location for the drama to unfold. Jeff ... ...small diner to call a breakdown service for help. When Amy doesn't return, Jeff gets worried, and, after managing to fix the 'fault' in his car, goes back to the diner to look for his wife. When no one in the diner says they have seen Amy, and the truck driver who gave her the lift swears he has never seen her, Jeff becomes embroiled in a very clever and sophisticated kidnapping plot. It is left up to him Jeff to save his wife.
For me the opening ...

Breakdown isn't as bad as a lot of people make it, out to be it takes while for the plot to pick up, but when it does it makes for a fantastic movie. Kurt Russell stars as Jeff, who is driving with his wife Amy (Kathleen Quinlan) into San Diego, when their car breaks down. After many long hours in the mid-day heat, help comes in the form of a man in his 18 wheeler truck. He offers to take Amy to the neareast phone, while Jeff stays with the car. ...

After seeing Volcano and Warriors of Virtue in back to back visits to the movies, I needed a good flick. This movie did not disappoint. After the first typical five slow minutes, this movie really picked up. This movie had action, suspense, and drama. Even though you know who is behind this whole plot, the suspense throughout makes up for it. The best thing about this movie is that it was realistic. As I was sitting there deciding what I would do, ... ...much more realistic can you get! The fact that Kurt did his own stunts in this movie also made it much more believable. The people in the theatre along with myself where so into this movie that we cheered out loud when each of the bad guys got beat. What a feeling. Overall I recommend this movie highly to anyone. It will definitely be worth the trip ...

Advantages: Great acting, understated Disadvantages: The last bit of the ending is too far fetched
A little like "The Vanishing", this film is very thrilling. There are times that I jumped, was sitting on the edge of my seat or wondering what was going to happen next. There were no times that I was bored! This was not a film I wanted to get out at the time, so uninspiring was the blurb on the back. The acting is good, there are some famous faces that, if you don't recognise immediately, you will be srtaining your brain trying to remember where ...

Advantages: Not too bad Action film Disadvantages: Won't appeal to everyone
You'd be forgiven for thinking oh no Kurt Russel again in a dodgy movie. But, this isn't that bad really. It's a tad slow at first, but once it gets going you are drawn into it. There are a few twists and turns en-route and by the end you feel that you have seen a film that didn't completely waste your time.... Don't expect too much though, it is just a run of the mill action kind of thing. Once seen you probably won't want to see it again and again, ...
