When I first watched Breakdown I really, really enjoyed it, and thought it was a much better film then some of the negative newspaper reviews gave it credit for. Breakdown isn't as bad as a lot of people make it, out to be it takes while for the plot to pick up, but when it does it makes for a fantastic movie. Kurt Russell stars as Jeff, who is driving with his wife Amy (Kathleen Quinlan) into San Diego, when their car breaks down. After seeing Volcano and Warriors of Virtue in back to back visits to the movies, I needed a good flick. This movie did not disappoint. After the first typical five slow minutes, this movie really picked up. This movie had action, suspense, and drama. Even though you know who is behind this whole plot, the suspense throughout makes up for it. The best thing about this movie is that it was realistic. ...much more realistic can you get! The fact that Kurt did his own stunts in this movie also made it much more believable. A little like "The Vanishing", this film is very thrilling. There are times that I jumped, was sitting on the edge of my seat or wondering what was going to happen next. You'd be forgiven for thinking oh no Kurt Russel again in a dodgy movie. But, this isn't that bad really. It's a tad slow at first, but once it gets going you are drawn into it. There are a few twists and turns en-route and by the end you feel that you have seen a film that didn't completely waste your time....
