Advantages: It has loads of familar faces Disadvantages: Not Funny!
...few hours of to waste, Bowfinger is it. If you are actually looking for a good movie though, you could do better than this. If you are a Martin fan then try some of earlier stuff like Lonely Guy or even Father of the bride. I'd heard that some people liked it and may too! ...

Advantages: The end credits Disadvantages: Steve Martins lost it
...have they all gone mad. Bowfinger has to be one of the worst comedies ever made.Steve Martin is no longer funny, since The Jerk he has been on a downward spiral culminating in the diabolical Bowfinger and as for Eddie Murphy he never has been funny. Do not go and see this film, do not rent it and certainly do not buy it. Watch Austin Powers 1 and 2 to see how a comedy film should be made. Yeah baby ...

Advantages: a fun filled, action packed comedy Disadvantages: hhhhhmmmmm
After seeing the poster of the film in the cinema absolutely ages ago, i decided there and then that i was going to see this film at the first opportunity. The critics' reviews were quite positive, which made me get even more excited when i first got it on region 1 DVD just after christmas this year. My god was it good. I loved it from the beginning to the end with a laugh a minute(well almost). The acting by Martin and Murphy was superb. Still i ...

just about every film steve martin makes these days is hailed as the greatest thing he's done in ages, the reason being for this, is everything he has starred in for ages has been utterly rubbish, and he has struggled to find anything like the comedy form he had in the man with two brains or the superb the jerk. Murphy on the other hand has had a rollercoaster movie career, with seems to suffer more highs than lows. So what about bowfinger? well ... ...the problem is though, that the film is just not funny. there are a few moments such as where murphy has to make it across busy lines of traffic, the look on murphys scared face is priceless but thats about it. I used to be a big steve martin film, but now i just wish he could make a movie half as good as his old ones. Poor in the extreme, lacking originality and ideas, a great waste of two very talented men. ...

Advantages: Hu hu hu hu Eddie Disadvantages: Boring in places
I didnt know what to expect from this film to be honest. I thought the last few films of Steve Martin hadn't really been that funny, and Eddie Murphy had sort of drifted out of the lime-light really. But, I was pleasantly surprised. Ok, so Mr Martin's character isn't the best in the world, but he manages to make something of it. But, Eddie Murphy, who plays not one, but two characters, pulls off superb performances as a film star, and the film stars ... ...big Hollywood film star, and you can't help but chuckle whenever he's on-screen.
It all centres about Steve Martin's character making a film, staring Eddie Murphy, but without his knowledge. So him and his crew creep around, following him and setting him up at various locations, while the camera is there to capture every moment. The look on Eddie's face in some of the scenes as he's pestered by "aliens" is hillarious.
Terrance Stamp (i think!) ...

Advantages: good cast..... Disadvantages: awful film
I have to admit, I read the reviews and was really looking forward to settling down and watching this film. Unfortunately I was to be left very disappointed. I’ve been a big fan of both Steve Martin and Eddie Murphy for years, but watching this just made me wonder why they bothered. The script is terrible, it has the occasional chuckle in there, but on the whole there was just nothing really funny about it. I got the feeling that Eddie Murphy was ... ...and Steve Martin came across as though he just didn’t have what it takes any more. The extras contained on the disc are OK, but I found that I just couldn’t bear to go through all the deleted scenes as I felt my time could have been better spent pulling my teeth out with pliers! If you feel you must see this, then rent it first, but please don’t buy it, you could be making a mistake. ...

Advantages: Smart, Hilarious, Great Acting Disadvantages:
...and out 'movie producer' Bobby Bowfinger (played by Steve Martin), who's basically a con artist covering up with his smooth-talking. He reads a script called 'Chubby Rain' and decides that it MUST be a movie. So he cons his way into getting a deal. The only catch? He has to get Kit to star in it. But when Kit refuses, and Bobby tells his other stars that Kit is going to be in it, the only other solution is filming the movie with Kit, except he doesn't ... ...results! And the way it makes fun of all things Hollywood (Heather Grahmn stars as Daisy, a girl who'll sleep with anyone to become a star and then becomes a lesbian, which is making fun of Anne Heche who slept with Steve to become famous and then went out with Ellen DeGeneres) makes you want to laugh as much as the story does. Overall this is a smart, hilarious comedy that is a MUST see! Go and rent it, buy it, whatever, just see it! ...
