Advantages: original plot Disadvantages: not exactly oscar winning stuff
I had read lots of bad or lukewarm reviews of this film when I went to see it so was not expecting anything great. However its an o.k film. It's about a guy (Ben Affleck) who swaps airplane seats with a married man who wants to get home to be with his family. The plane crashes and Buddy (Affleck) has to deal with the guilt of survivng. He seeks out the victim's wife (Gwyneth Paltrow) and they start a relationship, with her having no idea of who he ... ...although I found it hard to imagine Paltrow as a mother of an 8 year old boy however dowdy they attempted to make her. It is probably more watchable because of the quality of the two lead roles and if they were less well known i don't think I would have enjoyed it as much because it isn't a great film. But it's quite light and sweet and it has a feelgood factor and a happy ending.
i went to see it with a few of my friends (all girls) and i think ...

Advantages: Lovely sweet story Disadvantages: Sometimes slow
I wasn't expecting this film to be any good, although I am a big fan of romantic comedies. I didn't see that Ben Afleck and Gwyneth Paltrow to work well together because of their on-off relationship - I was wrong! Afleck plays commitment phobic Buddy, who gives away his plane ticket to a stranger. Sadly, the plane crashes and Buddy blames himself, guilt ridden he searches for the strangers widow Abby (Gwyneth.) Buddy falls for Abby, but how can he ... ...death of her husband? This film is original, sweet and sentimental. The only flaw as far as I'm concerned is it takes a while to get into it. I love it and will watch it again and again. But for people who don't like romantic comedies, I would advise them to stear clear. ...

Advantages: heartwarming, nice music Disadvantages: ordinary and predictable
The story goes like this: Ben Affleck is Buddy, who meets Greg (Tony Goldwyn) at the airport when their flights are delayed. After meeting a woman in the bar, Buddy gives Greg his plane ticket so he can get home to his wife and kids. The plane crashes and Buddy feels responsible for Greg's death. He looks up Greg's widow Abby (Gwyneth Paltrow) to make sure she's okay, and ends up falling in love with her. But of course he doesn't let on who he is, ... ...inevitably finds out.
The film is mostly about the Ben Affleck character's maturing and learning to be responsible. Both the lead characters lie through their teeth for most of the film so by the time you get to the end, the fact that Buddy lied about who he was doesn't matter that much anymore and it's difficult to feel sorry for anyone except the kids.
The story is very predictable but the film is okay. There are some nice characters. The two ...
