This is one of the best and funniest book adaptations the BBC has ever produced. In fact, it's even better than the book: the cast is well-nigh perfectly chosen to create characters that are even funnier than you imagine them to be from reading the novel. The dialogue is sharp and witty and, unless you are listening very carefully, a lot of it will pass you by on a first viewing. This means that you can watch it time after time and still notice some subtle hilarious detail that you haven't fully appreciated before. It's a real pity that the BBC doesn't produce stuff of this calibre any more.
