Definately one of the best DVD's available to date. It contains a near perfect transfer, with breathtaking sound. The features round off, what is a new perfect disc. The film? This film has a blood party at the start intended to scare the viewer. WRONG! It is quite amusing to watch Weslpe Snipes and a pile of vampires (more than you'd think) run around a city killing each other. It isn't that horrific and of course it mostly funny. Yet another great comic book hero converted into a film. ...vampire slayer fanatic like me, Blade is the movie for you. I watch Buffy and Angel religeously and am a big fan of the genre, therefore, when I saw a preview of Blade, I was hooked. The opening sequence is the pinicle of COOL, although the story line is too transparent, the special effects are awesome and the acting by Wesley Snipes is up to his usual unflawed standard. There is even a cameo appearance of Tracy Lords (better know for her porn movies). ...
...on DVD through my computer. I have Cambridge Works FPS1000 speakers and a Creative live 5.1 Player card so the sound and picture quality were above average anyway. When the night club scene comes on with the soundtrack "Blade by Public Domain", make sure you turn your speakers up to the MAX !!! To sum up, if this is the genre you enjoy, don't hesitate, buy it today. If the shops are shut, go and que up outside your local Woolworths now and wait ...

Based on the popular comic book, this film shows the "hard as nails" Wesley Snipes as a half human half Vamp, spending his life taking on and destroying the Vampires. It was interesting to see how the vampires, living longer than humans, actually had tonnes of cash and owned everything from large blood banks to the police, making Blade`s job quite hard! The film is brilliant with lots of action and bodies turning to dust with some nice effects. ...
...nice to see an R2 DVD with almost if not all the same extras as the R1. I have seen this film going cheap in a lot of places (from DVDstreet to HMV) which I find curious since it was such a hit. Maybe they all over ordered - anyway it means that you can normally get quite a good deal on it price wise, so instead of paying 3.50 to rent it at Blockbuster, buy it for a bit more and keep it forever... ...
