...favourite, in the form of Bedknobs and Broomsticks!
I would spend hours in front of the TV when I was younger, happily playing away with a good Disney on in the background. Indeed, one of these was Bedknobs and Broomsticks. I think we had taped it from the TV one time as I don't actually remember seeing the front cover to this edition. So I took quite a while examining the wonders of the DVD case. The main background to it was a sky blue shade with ... ...straight on with Play.
Bedknobs and Broomsticks is a film set on the outskirts of London, and revolves around the life of Eglantine Price and the three war evacuee children she looks after: Charlie, Carrie and Paul. Eglantine is taking a course in witchcraft which she tries to keep silent from the children, but when they discover her secret, she loosens her strict ways slightly and is forced to open up. The children are introduced to new adventures, ...

Yes, yes, I like you have been watching all the movies that have been on over the festive season. This may be a strange choice of film to review out of all the ones that were shown over the Christmas period, but in my opinion it is probably one of the best films that was shown, oh and I also have a brilliant title (love it!) - you will have to watch the movie to find out what I am going on about!
For a film that is nearly 40 years old, it is pure ... ..."family" films that are out there today. For any of you that saw this many moons ago, I urge you to revisit the magic, and for any of you who have not seen it, give it a go!
I had never actually seen this film until boxing day this year, it had never interested me as a child, I had seen bits of Mary Poppins and not enjoyed it, so I lumped this film into the same category, it was a Mary Poppins esque film....I was all about the Snow White, Little ...

Bed Knobs and Broomsticks, 1971, Walt Disney Films, 117 mins, Rating U
Bed Knobs and Broom Sticks was one of my favourite film musicals when I was a child, in fact I still love it today. The Story:
This film is set in the Second World War and follows the adventure of 3 children Charlie, Carrie and Paul Rawlins. The children like many at that time have been evacuated from London to the country, this in it's self is a big adventure, but when they ... ...adventure just gets bigger. Eglantine is at first not expecting the children and worries that her practices of witchcraft will be exposed, in attempt to conceal them she casts a travelling spell on the bed and they are all sent on a magical journey. Along the way they pick up Emelius Browne, Head of the Witchcraft course that Eglantine has been corresponding with. My Opinion:
This film is delightful, it is full of colour and excitement, and it cleverly ...

Bedknobs and broomsticks is for me, a classic Disney film, although its not one of the most popular with the public, it definitely is for me! I don't actually own the DVD, but I've seen it so many times on the TV, I know it really well by now and definitely well enough to do a review on it. The plot is original, unlike many Disney films taking their plots from old fairytales (Cinderella, etc.) it is also unique because it is a mixture of animation ... ...under the sea or when they meet some cartoon animals. This was very good for the time as it was released over thirty five years ago, in 1971. You can tell the film is British as it starts off with some history, and you get a real feeling of the war and what was happening at the war. In a little village somewhere in Dorset, there is a witch called Eglantine Price (played by Angela Lansbury) who somehow believes that her learning to be a witch will ...

There is something about classic movies like 'Bed Knobs and Broomsticks' that take you back to thoes long ago years when all of the family use to sit around a TV and watch a film together, and yes that really did happen once!
Ofcourse these were the times before every kid owned a playstation or Nintendo and before every house was garenteed to have a computer inside it somewhere.
Old classics on a sunday afternoon after the roast dinner, it just ... ...and to me still have that bit of magic that once lit up my life, even after all these years. This particular Disney classic had all the magic, the drama, the characters and a great storyline. The marvelous Angela Lansbury, who somehow never seems to age, literally added the magic to this film. As a trainee witch she and Mr. Emelius Browne (David Tomlinson) take three war evacuated children on an adventure off a lifetime on a magical flying bed, i ...

David Tomlinson- Mr. Emelius Browne. He is a bit of a fraudster and can not be trusted.

Advantages: Funny and has a touch of live action Disadvantages: Could have been better actors
This film is about three children who evacuated to the country during world war one. They go to live with Eglantine Price who they dislike at first until finding out that she is a witch. She leads them on a magical adventure which leads them to London and eventually a magical world where everything but them is animated. They travel around on a bed which is magical enough to make any child check whether their own bed is magical! The children also ... ...oldest and the youngest but the way they take it is quite funny!
I though this film was good as the magical part really interested me. It is suitable for young children and for slightly older children because there is live and animation combined, this makes the story more believable, more realistic and allows children's imagination to flow more. The switch from animation to reality is done really well and is believable. The animated animals are ...
