...alot of disrespect passes the Battle Royale Act. What is the Battle Royale Act I hear you say. Well isn't it obvious? What would you do with rebelling teenagers? Put them on an island and tell them to kill each other of course. The action centres around Nanahara - a school boy who everyone seems to love - and his attempt to escape bthis blood fest and protect his girlfriend Noriko. The idea is that the kids go off on the island and kill each other ...
...as long as everyone else is dead. Anyone who tries to escape has their head blown off by an irremovable necklace. This film doesn't take itself seriously, as you can probably tell, it's an entertaining story with plenty of violence. The teacher charcter is extremely obscure (especially at the end). The performances are quite good but it does get annoying how much the writer as chosen to use the love motif. Everyone in it seems to love someone else ...

...has and what they think of it! Battle Royale is simply another wholly original, soon to be cult classic (bad thing or good thing??) amongst many other Japanese films-such as Ring, Audition and Dark Water. I definitely reccommend any of these, although if you're scared easily maybe not! ...

...this the governement enforce the Battle Royale Act where a class every year is taken away to a desserted island to fight and kill eachother until one person remains. I guess just giving the pupils after-school detention didn't sor tthem out. This DVD is worth it as it is an amazing film for a few reasons. 1. it shows how insane some governments can be, going so far as to force students to kill each other in fear of them rebelling. 2. It is surprisingly funny to watch people reluctantly kill each other (i dont know why, but it just is). 3. it is interesting (and slightly disturbing) to find out how many different ways there are to kill someone.
